Ovulation pain?

I have woken up this morning with quite severe cramping and a searing pain in my groin and back. At one point I couldn't sit down because it felt like i was sitting on a knife. The pain was also up my back passage. I can only kind of relate this to the feeling of contractions.

I am ovulating I know that much - has anyone else had this kind of thing caused by ovulation?

I stopped the pill around 6 months ago and my last period was painful which I don't usually have. I'm also approaching 45 and think I can feel a change in my body starting.

Op, did you ever discover what was causing the ovulation pain?

I have had severe ovulation pain for as long as I can remember. I’ve recently been diagnosed with endometriosis and have since found out it is quite a common thing to experience amongst sufferers.
