Hello,

Just wondering how long peoples smear results are taking to come back this time of year?

I've had my repeat one last week after last years found HPV. Hoping it's clear so I can go back to longer between them!

Tia

I'm in the exact same situation
Had mine 15th but no result yet

forfeksake · 29/11/2021 18:32

I had mine a few months ago and they took a month to come back this time!

LivingForPinkGin · 30/11/2021 13:52

This was my situation also. Took exactly nearly 6 weeks to get my ready back. Came back still hpv positive and abnormal cells so been referred for a colposcopy. Fingers crossed yours comes back soon and clear.

fedup078 · 30/11/2021 14:09

@LivingForPinkGin oh no
I'm fully expecting mine to be the same
Will be 2nd time round for me

Informm · 30/11/2021 16:01

hello. I have been having this fleshy like stretchy skin come from my vagina. I went to the doctors and they say they have never seen anything like this before. i have a normal pap and it cause no pain and no odor. has anyone experienced this.

kathryn0812 · 30/11/2021 16:59

@Informm sorry I've never have that. I've had discharge that looks fleshy but never actual skin. Are you in any discomfort?

my apologies not really skin just hard to describe let me see if i can send a pic. I sometimes have real bad spasms like contractions. but that like once every 8 months or so

fedup078 · 01/12/2021 13:42

Just had a backlog of post and still no result
I was told they were taking up to 2 weeks
Was nearly 2 month last year

Whataboutye88 · 01/12/2021 13:44

Nearly seven weeks later and I’m still waiting. I had HPV and CIN1 in September last year and this is the follow up - seriously anxious now.

fedup078 · 01/12/2021 13:58

@Whataboutye88 yeah I'm pretty stressed about it
In fact I put the test off for 2 months because I couldn't stand this wait for the results

Whataboutye88 · 01/12/2021 14:29

It’s so stressful waiting and I just keep catastrophizing that the cell changes will have developed further or into cancer. It doesn’t help that my friend (who lives in a different part of the UK) had a smear (showing hpv and cell changes), colposcopy and follow up, all in a six month period. I had my first smear at the same time as her with the same result, five month wait for colposcopy and then 13 month wait for follow up smear which I’m still awaiting the results of. Sucks.

fedup078 · 01/12/2021 14:55

@yeah I've read that they don't treat cin1 these days
If I hadn't thrown my h out I might have been wanting to try for another dc around now so I'm not how that would have panned out. Actually it makes me wonder if you end up waiting for years and years for either treatment or it to go away then what do you do about having children ?

Flowerflumps · 01/12/2021 15:07

I had a smear a few weeks ago and was told it's around an 8 week wait for results at the minute.

Whataboutye88 · 01/12/2021 15:42

@fedup078 we’ve been TTC this year and had complications, and none of the doctors have advised for us to stop trying despite the hpv and cell changes. I don’t think it’s ideal but don’t want to wait any longer. I’ve always had HPV at every smear since I was 25 so for some reason my body just can’t shift it. It really is a worry.

fedup078 · 01/12/2021 15:48

@Whataboutye88 I had cells removed in 2009 and had no issues since
Had negative results since they started specifically testing for hpv until last year when it came back
I think pregnancy lowered my immune system

Whataboutye88 · 01/12/2021 15:53

@fedup078 I’ve read that that can happen. It’s interesting too that once you have cells removed often the HPV will disappear (at least for a while) too - wonder if the healing process triggers the immune system to fight it.

StEval · 03/12/2021 19:54

Do any of you waiting have the NHS app linked to your GP surgery.
My results appeared after 8 days!
Not had a letter yet but surgery has also put a follow up for 3 years and results normal in my records.

kathryn0812 · 04/12/2021 12:28

@StEval can I ask when you had yours done? I do have the app and have been checking it but nothing yet. With it being a weekend I don't expect anything yet anyway!
Good news on your results 😊

Nothing yet for me
Mail seems to be coming only every 3rd day now

It was 22nd Nov.
I really didnt expect it to come back that soon.
Bit fed up as Im having a colposcopy anyway as gp said cervix looked "abnormal"
I have a feeling they wouldnt have bothered if they did cytology but its only HPV test now.
I think colposcopy refs must have soared as a result.

christmaspavlova · 05/12/2021 07:18

I'm waiting for mine too. My doctors receptionist says at least a 12 week wait for results atm.

fedup078 · 05/12/2021 07:23

@christmaspavlova ShockI thought the nurse was being a bit optimistic saying 2 weeks
No doubt I'll get the bad news on Xmas eve

popcorndiva · 05/12/2021 07:33

I was the same as @stEval had smear on 22/11. Received a letter in post yesterday to give me all clear, so may depend on region and if the cells are normal or not

The nurse also told me to contact them after two weeks but then the receptionist told me at least 12 weeks . Maybe all nurses are saying 2 weeks to patients, like a memo GrinI say this half jokingly.

freesolo · 05/12/2021 08:02

I had my results back yesterday after only 2 and a half weeks. I can't believe some of these waits!
