I was reading the thread on having a Large Stomach and realised I had similar feelings…

I saw the doc who did blood tests and booked a scan (late next week) but tonight she phoned and said the CA125 result is back at >1000 (normal level

Sorry, you haven’t had any replies. I have no experience of your situation, but I have my fingers crossed for you. Waiting for results is The Pits Flowers

Cheers, AF. It is an absolute bastard.

Have you heard anything further about an earlier scan, MrsW ?

Cloudyzebra · 24/11/2021 19:12

I just Googled, (I know you should never do that but hey,) and it seemed to suggest exactly what you were hoping for, that it can be a sign of other more benign conditions. Keeping everything crossed for you!

MrsWooster · 25/11/2021 07:40

Thanks, both of you. Got an emergency consultation this morning as they ā€œhad an extra clinicā€ so that’s simultaneously brilliant and even more terrifying since it seems very… convenient. I’ve pinned my hopes that they’ll send me next door for a quicky scan since it’s right next door (small local hospital).

Fingers crossed for you

Endometriosis can cause raised levels (not typically this high, but there's a lot of possible variation), as can fibroids, PID and liver disease.

There is such a thing as a chocolate cyst (less appetising than it sounds) where a benign cyst has endometriosis

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 25/11/2021 07:52

And remember, they want to see you quickly because it's very much in your interests that you are seen quickly. This is good. We all know they need to establish first off if there is the possibility of a malignancy, because the earlier detected the better the treatment options.

And yes, the waiting is awful Flowers

Do you have anyone to go in with you?

SergeiL · 25/11/2021 07:56

Wishing you all the very best for this morning. Whatever it is, you are in the system now and will hopefully soon know what you are dealing with. As scary as it is, it is better than the waiting and the googling I think.

Almostwelsh · 25/11/2021 07:57

I had this. It was a large ovarian cyst. They removed it and all was fine.

Braveheart35 · 25/11/2021 08:00

Sleeplessem · 25/11/2021 08:49

Yes I had this, ca125 wasn’t as high as yours but was well into the hundreds, turns out it was pregnancy, specifically the first trimester.

How old are you OP? I crapped myself so went private at the nhs cancer pathway was a 2 week wait and the private gynae I saw was exasperated that this test took place on someone of ā€˜reproductive age’ as apparently it varies hugely due to menstrual cycle, if you’ve had an upset tummy, IBS, pcos, endo and pregnancy.

Good luck OP xx

AnyFucker · 25/11/2021 10:41

All the best x

MrsWooster · 25/11/2021 13:39

Thanks everyone. I saw the doctor this morning, which is reassuring in itself though technically no further forward.

Scan has been scheduled for tomorrow morning so hopefully will know a bit more then.

I am very old, I’m afraid, so no chance this is pregnancy thank god!
