Referred to breast clinic- anxiety high!

Have just been referred to breast clinic for further tests. Am so anxious, it was a routine mammogram. I rang reception at the clinic and a slightly brusque lady told me it was because “ something is there”.
Just need a handhold. Anyone had this and it turned out ok?

Yes the appointments are coming thick and fast now.

Pre- op on 19th July, sentinel node radioactive injection on the 9th Aug.

I know I've got to go for a Magnese to be inserted.

Hard to keep up.

@BG2015

I had my biopsy results this week.Stage 2 lobular breast cancer triple positive,

I'm having a lumpectomy on the 10th Aug and then chemotherapy and Herceptin injections. I will put have radiotherapy too as well.

It's been a roller coaster few weeks. I only discovered the lump on the 7th June.

Everyone I've met has been amazing

BG2015 I'm having my operation on August 10th too! I had a lymph node biopsy 2 weeks ago and the lymph nodes are clear, so for my cancer I don't need radiotherapy.
I'm having a single mastectomy and immediate diep reconstruction..the operation is 6/8 hours long 😬Trying not to over think everything. I'm 53 married, with 2 teenage DD's. They have been amazing!
I've found a FB group with women having the diep and I personally know someone too. I'm feeling much more positive, but do have my teary moments.
BG2015 · 18/07/2021 19:54

@SS67 I hope your operation goes well! It's certainly a roller coaster.

I have 2 boys aged 21 & 18! They've also been amazing.

I go for my pre-op tomorrow.

speedyhedgehog · 21/07/2021 09:15

Ss67 and bg2015 hope both of your operations go smoothly and are successful.

BG2015 · 21/07/2021 09:33

@SS67 have you watched and listened to all of the stuff Victoria Derbyshire has put out?

She had a mastectomy too!

SS67 · 21/07/2021 21:54

No I haven't. I knew she had breast cancer but not about her mastectomy. She's a strong, inspirational woman, I'll have to look it up.
I had a seroma last week, like lump of fluid under the op scar, it arrived 2 weeks after the SLNB, really painful, worse than the operation! I'm still leaking fluid and on antibiotics, but does look a lot better.
Currently ordering firm hold granny pants for the tummy tuck part of my op and trying to find a zip up sports bra that I can actually get my boobs in and do the zip up! 😂

BG2015 · 22/07/2021 08:01

@SS67
I've ordered a turban off Etsy and researching wig companies as my chemo will start in mid September.

Decided not to do the cold cap!

Banbury Postiche

These are a few hairdressers recommend. But also Macmillan can do quite nice ones apparently.

BG2015 · 22/07/2021 11:46

I'm going to Trendco in Manchester after my operation

Guiltymumofkids · 22/07/2021 11:59

@BG2015

Sorry to read about this.

I had cancer four years ago, with the full bells and whistles of chemo/rads/lumpectomy.

Chemo is probably scarier in your head than it is, the thought of your hair falling out is worse than it actually is.

The way I try to see it is that it’s going to be a six month snapshot in your life with treatment. I knew exactly when my chemo ended (which was my biggest fear) and I only looked towards that.

Cancer can be a lonely time, as no one except those who’ve done it really understand, so please feel free to PM me if you need to chat x

@SS67

The same comment to you x

BG2015 · 22/07/2021 15:13

@Guiltymumofkids

I keep saying...,it's just a blip, normal life will be resumed shortly.

It's quite amusing as since Covid and 4 holidays being cancelled we've now landscaped our garden, totally revamped our bedroom, hall, stairs and landing has been decorated and carpeted.

Now we are on the living room.

Bit of cancer treatment, enjoy the comforts of home and then next year I'll be ready to travel, mini breaks, holidays, enjoying life!

Guiltymumofkids · 22/07/2021 15:14

The day you finish chemo is a great day. Unfortunately there are other worries afterwards that will be there, but freedom day is amazing!!

BG2015 · 11/08/2021 16:54

I had my lumpectomy 8 days early on the 2/8 because of a cancellation. I had 3 lymph nodes removed.

All went well and I get my results next Friday.

Hoping for clear margins so we can crack on with the chemo

speedyhedgehog · 12/08/2021 07:42

Have been thinking of you and hoping all is going as well as it can. Will keep everything crossed you get the results you are hoping for on Friday xxx
