Small 0.5mm lump under areola

emmajayn3 · 21/03/2021 15:12

I have been referred to the breast clinic on Thursday 1st April after I found a small hard lump next to nipple under areola which is not painful so that worries me.

I am 37 and not pregnant or feeding. My son is 8.

Two separate drs felt it and both said it was mobile (does not feel mobile to me) and not sinister and gave me option to wait a few weeks see if it goes or be referred. I asked to be referred as I found it after my period.

I had an ultrasound on the very same breast last August for a separate bit of tissue higher up on breast so hoping it is something very new and recent even if it’s bad.

I’m beyond worried and throwing up daily with fear. My husbands auntie died of secondary breast cancer last week so it’s been tough.

Any hand holders?

How are you feeling today @emmajayn3?

@Fawn68 how did you get on?

LadyEloise · 27/03/2021 09:13

@emmajayn3
When are your results expected back ?

Fawn68 · 27/03/2021 15:22

@Fnib all was good, just normal pregnancy breast tissue thankfully. So all the hormones have made my breast lumpy all over, the consultant examined me then I had the ultrasound and that's all that I needed and was discharged. Feel like I can now enjoy my pregnancy!

dottiedaisee · 27/03/2021 15:44

I have three friends who recently had tiny breast lumps biopsied...they all were given the all clear . Good luck with your appointment and really try and keep yourself occupied over the next few days 💐

emmajayn3 · 27/03/2021 18:04

@Fnib I’m not doing too bad today oddly enough just chilling and writing a quiz for friends tonight. I am hoping the next few days fly by

So sorry to hear about your husband's aunty. Be reassured by two doctors feeling the lump and saying it's mobile. I have had 2 experiences now at the breast clinic. The first a few years ago was a fibroadenoma, the second a few weeks ago was unfortunately a diagnosis of breast cancer but I have been treated and all results are good. Both involoved a biopsy, please do not be afraid of this, it is really not as bad as you believe it will be. My recent experience has been a bit of a rollercoaster but I just want to say even if you do get a diagnosis the care and treatment you will receive will be second to none. The fact that you have had a recent ultrasound on the same breast also would indicate that anything there now has only recently developed so would be easily treated. Breast cancer diagnosis and treatment is so advanced these days, please try and remember that. I sincerely hope yours is benign, the waiting is the worst. Once you know, even if it is something that needs treatment, you then have something to focus on. My treatment has been quick, efficient and mostly painless. You are in the best hands. I wish you lots of luck.

steppingcarefully · 29/03/2021 16:34

Should also have added 3 out of 4 women who visit the breast clinic are not diagnosed with cancer.

emmajayn3 · 29/03/2021 18:16

Thank you very much @steppingcarefully how are you doing now? X

I'm fine thank you. I'm waiting for some radiotherapy in a few weeks time. That is being done just as a precautionary measure. I have been very lucky, it was caught early and easily treated and there was no need for chemotherapy.Thank you for asking.

margotleadbeter · 29/03/2021 19:05

I was at the breast clinic last week. No lump but odd symptoms in one side only. Mammogram was fine but Dr did say could be very very early days and to check religiously for lumps and return ASAP.
It's a very worrying time. I was lucky that the people I told did check in with me even my flaky friend who I love but don't rely on for that kind of thing. Sorry your friends aren't so great. Keep us posted if you can

Fnib · 01/04/2021 16:28

Thinking of you today @emmajayn3 I hope it wasn't too traumatic xx

LadyEloise · 01/04/2021 19:12

emmajayn3 · 01/04/2021 19:25

@Fnib and @LadyEloise

I want to say a special personal thank you to you all for hand holding me and a very special thank you to @Fnib for all the care and checking in daily. It will mean more than you ever know

Amazing news! A brush with your own mortality can take it out of you so try and find ways to do things you enjoy over the next few days

emmajayn3 · 02/04/2021 10:51

@margotleadbeter I really feel that way today. I am so thankful and feeling blessed and the sun is shining but I feel incredibly drained today after 3 and a bit weeks of anxiety but a good walk and Easter will be just the ticket. Thank you x x

@Fnib it really is and again I will never forget your kindness x

I so understand that drained feeling after all the anxiety, but also the wonderful feeling of seeing a future. Hope you have a lovely Easter weekend. Flowers @steppingcarefully I hope the radiotherapy goes smoothly and does what it's meant to to. Treatment for cancer is incredible these days. My very best wishes to you too Flowers
