I've finally managed to get a referral today and being fast tracked via cancer pathway to a specialist. I've had swollen lymph nodes for a few months now and another has appeared in my neck region the size of a ping pong ball over the last few weeks. Other symptoms are pointing to lymphoma but wont know until tests concluded.

I'm just so bloody scared and stressed by it all.
I've not told anyone in RL except for my immediate family and work. (I had to tell work as wasnt coping with workload due to the stress)

Just wondering if anyone has been through similar and can offer advice/experience/positive stories.

TIA

I had a had a small lymph node a couple of years ago on my neck. I went to Gp who said it wasn't a lymph node as it wasn't moving and she referred me as a query cancer to be seen urgently. I was so scared , couldn't think of anything else. Anyway, I had the scan within a couple of days and the lady who scanned told me it was all okay and it was a lymph node, GP then got in touch to tell me. A couple of weeks later it disappears.
I know it's easy to say but try not to worry. Thanks

Doyoumindifislytherin · 14/01/2021 20:07

Thank you both. The worrying thing is I have other symptoms too not just the lumps in my neck. It's been a nightmare few months even trying to get seen by my gp. I've been begging since last year to be seen. My bloods are showing infection/inflammation too and have been for months despite every course of antibiotic going. Trying so hard to be calm and rational about it but Im Just so full of dread atm.

I expect that it won't be as bad as you expect, and it probably won't be lymphoma, but just wanted to drop by and say I am a 25 years plus survivor of lymphoma! In the neck region… So even if it was the worst case scenario it's a really curable disease.

If you have a virus of some kind, antiBs aren't going to do anything.

Good luck Flowers

Hi,

I've never commented on a post before but I read your post and couldn't not comment.

I have been through something exactly the same, twice.

The second time was May 2019 and I was as terrified as you were. I ended up having to have biopsies which took a while to come back because they went to two labs for a second opinion. I was told the likelihood was it was lymphoma which wasn't a surprise because I had all the symptoms and Dr Google had already diagnosed me.

However, when the results came back, it wasn't lymphoma but a rare condition called Kikuchi disease. All the symptoms mirror that of lymphoma. There is no treatment and all my symptoms eventually went away on their own.

Good luck.

My chest x-ray has shown enlarged lymph nodes too. Terrified is an understatement. Somehow managed to lose over a stone in 3 weeks (probably stress and every cloud has a silver lining) I'm booked in for an endoscopy this week and referral to lung specialist.

And thank you to those who have posted similar experiences. It's helping me to feel a little more positive x

I had a swollen lymph node in my neck years ago and convinced myself it was cancer. I became obsessed with googling about it, feeling it etc. i went and saw a doctor who sent me to a specialist and it turned out to be just a swollen lymph node that became more enlarged than the others for some unknown reason but it went down and never really swelled much again.
Try not to worry! I hope you're okay. I know how scary it is, it consumes you with worry.
Sending you a hug!

Doyoumindifislytherin · 01/02/2021 17:50

Well I've been for a CT scan which also is showing lots of enlarged lymph nodes in my chest along with the ones in my neck. The worry is obviously Lymphoma and I'm having a biopsy over the next few days.

On a positive note my endoscopy didn't show anything of real concern.

I've got everything crossed that it's something else causing my lymphatic system to go into over drive. But what will be will be I guess. Feeling a little calmer now I've had time to process things and preparing myself for what ever outcome they give me.

Even if it is the worst, I am a 25 year plus survivor of lymphoma, it's very very treatable. And you will get through it. Please update, and if you need any advice let me know X

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome for you op! My step sister had something similar a few years ago and it turned out to be nothing sinister at all, I can't remember the exact cause but she's fine now.

Doyoumindifislytherin · 05/02/2021 18:48

Doyoumindifislytherin · 18/02/2021 19:06

Sorry ita took me a while to update. It's been a bit of a whirlwind but it has been confirmed as classical hodgkins lymphoma.

I will need more tests to determine subtype and my treatment plan over the next few weeks but I'm kinda relieved that I finally have the answer that I always knew I was going to get.

So here I am about to board the bus that is blood/lymphatic cancer and I'm going to throw every ounce of my being at beating this shit and getting well for my 2 girls and my 2 step children.

I refuse to lay down without a fight....

Bring on the treatment, and fuck you cancer... you cant stay here!
