Warning TMI, I don’t want to go to A&E

Lovemusic33 · 03/01/2021 20:58

Been having ongoing problems for 2 years, have posted here several times so some may remember. Heavy bleeding, spotting, bleeding during sex and random bleeding as well as a lot of pain. Ended up in A&E a few months ago due to heavy continues bleeding, gp finally referred me for a scan and gynaecology. Had my scan which didn’t show much other than a tiny fibroid which apparently wasn’t big enough to be causing the issues. Am unable to get a gynaecologist appointment, every time I call they tell me there are no appointments and obviously with covid it’s been made ten times worse.

My period isn’t due for another 12 days. Went to the loo earlier, strained a tiny bit and since then I have been bleeding non stop and passing large clots (one the size of the palm of my hand), as soon as I stand it just gushes out/drops out. I’m just so fed up with it. A friend has told me to go to A&E but there’s no point, they won’t do anything. I have taken some pain killers and hopefully the bleeding with slow down a bit. I’m so desperate to hysterectomy but no one will even discuss it with me, I’m bleeding almost all the time and I just want it gone Sad.

Anyone else been through this and eventually got it sorted? I’m not sure how much more I can take.

At least call 111 for some advice. None of this sounds right. I did wonder about endo with your symptoms but the current bleeding does sound excessive and might need assessing.

redfernsydney · 03/01/2021 21:02

Have you tried any mediction yet? tranexamic acid? The pill? mirena ?

propertyhell · 03/01/2021 21:02

Put a pad on so you can assess how much blood you're losing. If it's more than a pad an hour you should go back to A&E really.

Orchidflower1 · 03/01/2021 21:03

Oh sweetie, sorry you’re going through this but I actually think you need to either go to A and E or call 111 as the absolute minimum. 111 could well send you an ambulance. This is not right and needs sorting. Please go. Are you on your own? Do you have someone to drive you in case you haemorrhage?

Lovemusic33 · 03/01/2021 21:04

I know if I call 111 they will send me in due to heavy bleeding but I have been there before and was just checked over (iron levels checked) and then sent home. I was told when I had my scan that it’s probably not endo as there was no thickening to my uterus? But when I read about endo it seems it’s not that simple to diagnose.

I don’t have anyone to take me in, I’m home alone with 2 dc (both have sn’s).

I bled like this 2 months ago and it did eventually stop, it will probably slow down in a hour or so. I have flooded 3 night time pads in a hour. If it doesn’t stop in a hour I will consider calling 111.

That sounds awful 🙁 you must be so fed up. I really think you need to be seen, passing clots that large is crazy.

Lovemusic33 · 03/01/2021 21:07

@redfernsydney

Have you tried any mediction yet? tranexamic acid? The pill? mirena ?
I am on the pill, some months it’s fine and others (like this month) I spot and bleed all month. When I come off it I bleed non stop. I have tranexamic acid here but it doesn’t make any difference and I don’t think I can take it whilst taking the pill?

I feel for you..I have been through very similar.

Looneytune253 · 03/01/2021 21:12

You NEED to go to A&E that's so dangerous. Make the arrangements as soon as you can x

redfernsydney · 03/01/2021 21:12

Yes. ,I think it's meant to work best if you take before you start bleeding..which clearly is sometimes impossible.
mirena did work well for me ( up to a point) ...

HumphreyCobblers · 03/01/2021 21:14

3 pads in an hour is a dangerous blood loss level - if this does not resolve soon you must be checked.

Gunpowder · 03/01/2021 21:15

I think you should call 111 too. I’m worried about you!

Longer term, Mirena sounds like a good shout and worth asking your family planning/sexual health centre about. They might be good to talk to about the bleeding in general too and you could probably get a walk in appointment (if not right now in a couple of months when things aren’t quite so pandemic-y.)

Gogreengoblin · 03/01/2021 21:15

As horrendous as it would be, can you collect what is coming out in a vessel and go to A&E? I really think you should go.

Lovemusic33 · 03/01/2021 21:15

I discussed the coil with my go but decided against it until I actually find out what’s causing the bleeding, it’s not something I really want to get.

OP posts:
harridan50 · 03/01/2021 21:16

Have you considered the Mirena coil, i had this and it stopped it

Lovemusic33 · 03/01/2021 21:18

I have been to sexual health clinic back in the summer, they though i had PID so I was given a load of antibiotics thinking I had caught a STI, turns out I didn’t have it, bleeding continued and got worse which is why I went to A&E last time it was bad. Ended up sitting in A&E all day to be told there was nothing they could do as my iron levels were ok.

Trumplosttheelection · 03/01/2021 21:19

You need medical help. That's not a bit of bleeding, that's major blood loss. You need a haemoglobin check at the very least. If it's too low you are at serious risk of life threatening events.

Denny53 · 03/01/2021 21:22

Is there any chance you could be pregnant and having a miscarriage?

Lovemusic33 · 03/01/2021 21:23

@Denny53

Is there any chance you could be pregnant and having a miscarriage?
Not a chance, haven’t had sex for ages 🤣, I’m single and have been for a long time, have been too scared to have sex as i kept bleeding with my last partner.

The exact same thing is happening to me and I’m going for exploratory surgery next month. I have severe endo, Dr thinks it’s that and will remove but hysterectomy is the plan if the damage is too extensive. I’m only 40.
I got my appointment with him a couple of years ago (closed books too) by hysterically crying to his receptionist.
I feel for you, it’s bloody awful and shouldn’t be so hard to seek help! If you were bleeding from your eyes like this you’d get seen!

Thedarknightsaredrawingin · 03/01/2021 21:24

You need to call for medical assistance. You think you are helping your DC’s by not, however if you pass out they will be so scared and unsure of what to do.

redfernsydney · 03/01/2021 21:31

Long term you may be should reconsider mirena, because even in the best of times getting this sorted would take ages and we are in not in the best of times. I know having been there..And you cannot live like this.

snappyoldfartypants · 03/01/2021 21:34

This sounds like endometriosis or adenomyosis and needs to be investigated ASAP. Have you had any blood tests to check for anything at all? I know women are supposed to bleed but abnormal bleeding like this can't be ignored there is something clearly very wrong.

Do you get stabbing, pulling pains? Cramps or any pain with the bleeding? Any bleeding from your anus or any IBS symptoms?

I'm afraid 111 and a&e even with confirmed endometriosis do sod all, other than give over the morphine for the pain. So your best bet is to get an urgent GP appointment and Insist on full blood tests and keep pushing, see if you can get an urgent referral to a consultant.

picklemewalnuts · 03/01/2021 21:38

Tranexamic acid works regardless of cycle- I took it after a coil was removed. I was bleeding heavily, but the TA stopped it almost like a tap being turned. Please take it. Research the dose online, you may be able to take two, I can't remember.
