Warning TMI, I don’t want to go to A&E

Been having ongoing problems for 2 years, have posted here several times so some may remember. Heavy bleeding, spotting, bleeding during sex and random bleeding as well as a lot of pain. Ended up in A&E a few months ago due to heavy continues bleeding, gp finally referred me for a scan and gynaecology. Had my scan which didn’t show much other than a tiny fibroid which apparently wasn’t big enough to be causing the issues. Am unable to get a gynaecologist appointment, every time I call they tell me there are no appointments and obviously with covid it’s been made ten times worse.

My period isn’t due for another 12 days. Went to the loo earlier, strained a tiny bit and since then I have been bleeding non stop and passing large clots (one the size of the palm of my hand), as soon as I stand it just gushes out/drops out. I’m just so fed up with it. A friend has told me to go to A&E but there’s no point, they won’t do anything. I have taken some pain killers and hopefully the bleeding with slow down a bit. I’m so desperate to hysterectomy but no one will even discuss it with me, I’m bleeding almost all the time and I just want it gone Sad.

Anyone else been through this and eventually got it sorted? I’m not sure how much more I can take.

It is Carelle, I was on the higher dose and now on a low dose which seemed to help last month but now obviously not. Though my bleeding was like this on other brands too (not as many clots). I won't take this mornings dose. I'm still passing large clots, no idea where its all coming from, as soon as I move I bleed.

The progesterone only pill has had the same effect (caused bleeding) which is why gp agrees not to try the coil.

It sounds like when I had endometriosis, was like giving birth. The only advice I can give you is demand to be referred to a gynacologist, pay to go private for your initial consultation if you can to get seen quicker. As well, get some gentle Iron supplement because the more anaemic you get, the more you will bleed.

Whydoievencare · 04/01/2021 05:33

111 will send an ambulance for major blood loss. 3 pads in an hour isn’t good. If you’re bleeding approximately a mugful in the last 2 hrs, if it’s gushing, spurting etc it’s a major blood loss. I say this as a 111 health advisor.

@SquarePeggyLeggy

The exact same thing is happening to me and I’m going for exploratory surgery next month. I have severe endo, Dr thinks it’s that and will remove but hysterectomy is the plan if the damage is too extensive. I’m only 40. I got my appointment with him a couple of years ago (closed books too) by hysterically crying to his receptionist. I feel for you, it’s bloody awful and shouldn’t be so hard to seek help! If you were bleeding from your eyes like this you’d get seen!
I got a decent gynae appointment by plaguing my GP, and then contacting PALS about being fobbed off by the three gynaes I then saw one after the other who did fuck all.

Finally saw a gynae consultant surgeon at the same hospital who carried out a laparoscopic hysterectomy.

You poor thing! I was in the same situation needing a referral but Covid scuppering the appointment (different health condition to you though) until I rang the GP and spoke to a female doctor and asked her to write to the hospital to bring forward my referral as it was urgent and she was excellent and wrote the same day. My appointment came through the following week.

Not read every comment as I don't have the time. But I'm the exact same. I lose so much blood, I can't go far as I will bleed through a super plus tampon, 2 night pads and my clothes in 30 minutes. Clots fall out of me with such force, tampons shoot out and the clots literally drop to the floor like a rock. I can bleed up to a month at a time, too. And yes, the gushes...every time I stand/sit or use any muscles in the pelvic area. It's draining.

It's taken me a few years of fighting, but I'm finally awaiting to be called in for an endometrial ablation. If that fails, they have agreed to a hysterectomy. I'm 32, so still young in their eyes but I took pictures to prove to them just how bad it is, as they always say "you may think it's a lot, but it isn't..." erm, it is!

Good luck, don't back down. I have never gone to a&e with it, how I got seen was through my gp and being referred to a gynaecologist and then putting pressure on them.

wherewildthingsare · 04/01/2021 06:51

Nobody actually likes to go to a &e but sometimes it's necessary.

DFWM · 04/01/2021 06:54

Oh, also after a few weeks of bleeding and feeling extremely weak, sleeping for whole days and nights, only waking due to being soaked in blood and having to clean myself etc, the doctor started prescribing me provera to give me a break from the bleeding. Didn't always fully stop it, but it definitely lightened it. She would give me 10 days worth, by the 4th day there was a big difference. But 2 days after finishing them, the bleeding would start again.

Might be worth asking for if to just give you a weeks break.

Lovemusic33 · 04/01/2021 08:21

I survived the night with more bleeding and lots of pain but bleeding has now stopped. Feeling drained this morning, I have to work for a few hours and will then try and call my gp or get a call back in hope to chase up my referral.

I can’t afford to go private, just had my hours cut in half and am already paying for dd to go private for her condition (which I can’t afford to continue with).

I’m not going to take the pill anymore which will likely cause me to bleed again in a couple days.

How are you doing OP?

Lovemusic33 · 05/01/2021 20:09

Thank you for asking.

I spoke to my gp this morning (female gp), she had called the gynaecology department and they said I am due to be seen in March, i then told her in detail what happened Sunday night and she said she will call them back and tell them it urgent so hopefully I will be seen much sooner, she’s passing on details to them and has told me if it happens again I must call the hospital and demand to be seen or go to A&E. she seemed quite concerned.

Yesterday I managed a few hours at work but was then exhausted and dizzy, I’m feeling better today but very bloated (bleeding a little).

I am glad you are following up and doctor is being more assertive. Keep on at them. It's not right to be suffering so much.

Babymamamama · 06/01/2021 17:13

Hope you get it sorted

I've not read every post, but thought I'd post while its in my brain.
For some reason I have a problem with the prog only pill not being strong enough for me. I have the Nexplanon implant AND Cerelle pill and thats the only combo that stops me randomly bleeding! It was recommended by my Gynae who diagnosed and treated my Endometriosis many years ago.
My implant is due for renewal this month (not happening in my area - Cos Covid!) and I had a 10 day period over Christmas. Thankfully, for once is was super light and not too painful, but bloody annoying!

Thank you for your reply, that’s interesting. It is as though the pill isn’t strong enough, in the past I have doubled up (taken 2) to stop the spotting.

Another gp called me today and said they have written to gynaecology to ask that I’m seen soon, they also booked me in for a blood test tomorrow morning to check my iron and my hormone levels.

Em3978 · 06/01/2021 18:36

I think I'm going to have to do just that if I can't get my implant renewed. Its really not fun is it.

Gunpowder · 06/01/2021 20:22

I’m glad your GP is taking it seriously and that you are being referred and having bloods done. Hope you get it sorted as quickly as it can be.
