Embarrassing smell situation

Help!
This is embarrassing and I am definitely NOT a troll.

Ok so for a while now I have had a very strong fish smelling vagina. So bad that if I sit cross legged it smells incredibly strong. I wash down there regularly with 0% femfresh, and I've also tried plain water and also just leaving it to do its own thing. Nothing works it still smells the same. I've also tried using a canesten thrush pessary and that did precisely bugger all so its not thrush I don't think. Its also sometimes itchy but the main issue is smell.

I've recently been to the doctors who actually checked down there and really wasn't interested and just said to watch what clothes I'm wearing. No advice on if it was BV at all or something different!

What can I do about this? Its incredibly embarrassing. Should I go back to the doctors and push it further?

It's probably BV. Femfresh is known is known to trigger it. Happened to me - stopped using femfresh about -3 years ago and not had it since.

Try sexual health clinic (they're all still open, phone appt first) they may do a swab. Or back to GP and ask for swab (not sure why they didn't do that?) to check for BV and/or STIs.

How old are you ? If a bit older, when oestrogen drops and the vagina becomes drier (despite a discharge) it can smell . You would need to see your doctor again

Definitely sounds like BV - I had swabs which diagnosed mine. I think you can buy BV tests now but you could try your GP or GUM clinic

I found I was allergic to Femfresh. I now use child's farm baby wash without any issues, and would recommend that.

I struggle with this on and off, and I have found it gets worse as I get older. (I'm 41). I find that a few nights using the Balance Activ pessary clears it up. I also use a gel called Multigyn after DTD with DH, and that helps too! I'm prone to thrush also - I think it's just my age!

Sounds like bv. Stop using femfresh! When I had a 6month long thrush the nurse at the sexual health clinic said femfresh and anything like that actually makes thrush n be etc worse ! She advised on just water down there, I then changed my shower gel to sanex 0% which has no perfumes etc. I only wash my underwear in non bio too and did so for 60c until my thrush cleared up.
You can buy bv treatment at any pharmacy ...however if u do go to a sexual health clinic they may prescribe u antibiotics for it

Ok so possibly BV then. I will have a look online I didn't realise you could treat it yourself. If its not BV will it do me any harm to treat it?
I only use the femfresh 0% thats got no soap or perfume in it. Does that make a difference at all?
Also to a PP who asked I am 30, but this has been happening on and off for years. Worse since children though.

Right, off to amazon to see what I can find, thank you!

Definitely stop with the femfresh. I had loads of thrush problems till I went to plain water. I also recommend a warm water wash after using the loo, if you can. Buy a "portable bidet" bottle from amazon and wash yourself down, even after a pee. I then pat dry. It really, really helps me.

I wouldn’t go buying your own products OP. Already go to a GUM clinic for things like this and request a full examination. Clinics tests for thrush and BV and tell you before you leave if it’s that.

Femfresh doesn’t sound like it’s working for you.

The clinic once gave me aqueous cream to wash with.

Definitely sounds like BV gp should prescribe antibiotics Met- something can't remember but definitely go back and make sure they give you the drugs.
I use simple 0% fragrance bars of soap and haven't had a flare up since

Yes you use water to clean yourself but what she means is putting anything inside your vagina including douching and pearls 🙄 is not needed and alters the ph and can cause things like thrush.

There a diagnostic kit you can get that will tell you whether it is thrush or BV based on the PH. I think Canneston make it. But it sound like BV. BV discharge is described as being grey. Seeing a GUM specialist I’d a good idea.

Is it all the time, or could it be linked to after you have eaten fish?
There is a condition where certain types of fish can result in a fish smell down there.
