When did your period come back after birth if you breastfed?

Gave birth back in may
Been exclusively breastfeeding
Baby now 7 months old

I feel like my period is on it’s way

This seems too soon Sad

EBF

Period back at around 7 months IIRC

Baby hardly ate solids so it wasn't as if I'd dropped a feed

Then they were a bit irregular (missed the odd one out entirely)

JuneFromBethesda · 27/12/2020 18:52

2 and a bit years, for both my kids. Periods only came back when I cut the night feeds. It was lovely 🙂

mistletoeandsigh · 27/12/2020 18:52

Oh yes, mine were both good sleepers. I didn't realise that was the thing. They didn't sleep through the night, but around 3 months ish they both liked to sleep with only one wake up, maybe two. Obviously with some shitter nights than that thrown in there too.

crossstitchingnana · 27/12/2020 18:53

2 years. Both times. But I fed until they were 3.

ichundich · 27/12/2020 18:54

Once after 15 months, the other time after 14 months. Pretty regular, but very heavy from then on.

Oliv5 · 27/12/2020 18:55

5 months despite breastfeeding exclusively.

RandomMess · 27/12/2020 19:01

DC1 until I stopped when she was 5 months
DC2 & 3 straight away despite being whoppers and exclusively breastfeeding AngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

Happygogoat · 27/12/2020 19:15

12 weeks (was gutted), but it was because she was going longer stretches at night. My mum had told me that with me it was 9 months so I was surprised but it's a really wide range of normal.

They were regular for the whole time I breastfed though (a year), maybe every 50 or 60 days.

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 27/12/2020 19:20

Stopped breastfeeding before going back to work - DD was about 9 months old. Within a couple of weeks, AF returned.

Wrennie24 · 27/12/2020 19:22

EBF all four children until at least one year. Period returned exactly 28 days after each birth.

BarbiesWorld · 27/12/2020 19:24

Thank you for asking this OP. DS is 10 (nearly 11) months old and no sign of them starting again any time soon. Can't remember when it was with DD so it's good so see what a wide range of normal looks like

SparkleClaws · 27/12/2020 19:25

Baby one was ebf for 6 months and I got the fecker back at 3 months.
Baby two was mixed feed (but still primarily breastfed so probably one bottle a day form 6 weeks) for 20 months and I got my period back at 2 months ☹.

I felt very short changed.

Ejb86 · 27/12/2020 19:32

DS turned 1 on 21st Dec, AF arrived 26th.

neenabeana · 27/12/2020 23:02

4 months with my first (breastfeed until nearly 3 years old), 7 weeks with my second (still bf at 8 months), literally a week or 2 after my pp bleeding had stopped.
Although I didn't have another period for a good few months after that one.

Felt seriously cheated both times!

Megan2018 · 27/12/2020 23:05

4 months, despite EBF and feeding all bloody night! Robbed!

HavelockVetinari · 28/12/2020 18:41

@Itmaybeus

Both times about 8 weeks after I started weaning.
Wait, what? You gave your babies solids at 8 weeks?? Shock
8MinutesToSunrise · 28/12/2020 18:54

6 weeks, regular as clockwork since. EBF. Think it was because for the first couple of months he actually slept a decent stretch, not to be repeated for more than two years!

PegLegTrev · 28/12/2020 22:10

You realise she meant 8 weeks after weaning. Not when the baby was 8 weeks old.

MTwhyowhy · 28/12/2020 22:15

6 weeks post birth. And I was breast feeding on demand pretty much 24/7. Still peeved about it now 5 years later!

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 28/12/2020 23:56

15 months, when I was only feeding twice a day - I had nightweaned and baby was at nursery.

Onedropbeat · 29/12/2020 10:47

Thanks for all the responses

It varies hugely

Still no flow

It’s been hinting at it for a week now and I’m not getting any cramps feelings anymore

I wish it would either show or not as I’ve no idea whether I need to be wearing super black trousers everywhere I go

For those that it took a while to show, was it heavier than normal?

I’ve got the copper coil too so they can be heavier than normal even pre baby times

@ForeverBubblegum that’s interesting. Mine was 3 months and he was ebf at that point. Weaned himself off when he got his massive teeth at seven months.

Angliski · 12/01/2021 18:53

Oh hadn’t finished. Meant to say he was a super sleeper, so I wonder if that’s what it was

Onedropbeat · 12/01/2021 20:06

Update - it arrived and it was biblical

A few days I couldn’t really leave the house (luckily no where to go anyway)

All done now though so only lasted a week
