Cervical cancer? What else could it be?

Dollymix123 · 27/02/2019 15:30

I have had a smear- awaiting results but told that the cervix looks healthy.

I have had my bloods taken- this has come back as 'fine' what is the purpose of taking my blood? If it's fine does that mean I do not have anything wrong?

I had an internal and external scan at my gp surgery where they referred me. They said it is not fibroids. But they couldn't see fully.

I have had for the last 12months increase in discharge this has always been clear but appeared to be constant.

I have had cramps throughout my cycle. More common recently.

I began to bleed in December.
I have been flooding at points.
I stop bleeding and start again following any pelvic exam.

I am in pain in my pelvis which radiates, I can have stabbing pro longed pains on one side.
I have stabbing pains in points in my lower back but not always the same places the pains seems to move and is not constant. It seems worse at night and in the morning.
I am exhausted.

I have been referred to a gynocologist. And am awaiting to hear of an appointment. This was on the basis that I begged them too.

My sister was diagnosed last week with cervical cancer she is 1 year younger than me.

I am worried. But would rather know what is wrong with me. So that I can deal with it.

I think I'd be going to A&E tonight. Perhaps wait until the surgery is closed tonight, then go.

Layoverlife · 04/03/2019 16:13

Take you're self to A&E 🚗

Dollymix123 · 04/03/2019 16:38

I phoned my doctors surgery. Got a different doctors. Want through. He said that my bloods and previous scans were all reassuring. So I just need to take the pills they have given me.
I explained how much blood I've lost today but they were not concerned.

OP posts:
Fishwifecalling · 04/03/2019 16:58

The blood loss might be communism but what about the pain and cramps?

Dollymix123 · 04/03/2019 18:07

I've no idea. They have told me is muscle pain. And not related. Which it's not.

The pain is directly at the base of my spine. And is like the feeling of an open wound. The sensation at times has felt like I am sat in wet clothing. Like a little tingly.

The cramps in my pelvis vary. From constant cramps. To stabbings and then it's just hurting. I can feel my cervix when I cough or laugh and it stings or feels scratchy. If that makes sense.

namechanger0110 · 04/03/2019 19:27

@Dollymix123 , the sensation at the bottom of your spine- it's not a pilonidal sinus is it?

Dollymix123 · 04/03/2019 19:48

That's the area but I don't have a wound there.

When did you start taking the Cerrezette?

Why has your GP delayed the gynae referral?

I had fibroids last year and one weekend I was flooding. I rang 111 and they sent me to the hospital out-of-hours GP who gave me Tranexamic Acid to stop the bleeding, and it worked within hours.

I'm so sorry you're going through this, it must be scary.

MollysLips · 04/03/2019 20:05

Could your bleeding be caused by the Cerrezette? A very quick google found loads of other women saying they'd bled every day on it.

I'm on the Mirena Coil and - touch wood - haven't had a period since October.

You must be feeling awful from losing so much blood, you might be getting anaemic soon. Did your blood test check your ferratin and haemoglobin levels?

weekfour · 04/03/2019 20:11

I've had tranexamic acid and mefenamic acid in the past to control bleeding. It works very fast, a few hours as PP has said.

You really should not be losing so much blood. It makes you feel shit and you're possibly anaemic by now. I know it's ridiculous, but have you seen a female doctor yet? I had a (different) issue with bleeding. Fobbed off by a male doctor but it was dealt with sharpish once I'd seen a woman.

Flowers You must feel terrible. Get well soon.

Dollymix123 · 04/03/2019 20:24

I started to bleed In December. Mid Feb i put myself on Cerrezette. I had not been on anything previously
But have used Cerrezette long term before. This worked, or I wasn't sure if it was a coincidence But it seemed to calm down to just spotting.
Following a pelvic exam last week it flared up But worse then previously.
And the weekend just gone it is at its peak.

They gave me the tranexamic acid to help me clot, and I'm now taking this to stop the current flooding.

Im also on naproxen with omeprazole. And a new pill to help stop the bleeding. Norethisterone. I'm taking 16 pills a day!

Still awaiting smear result.

Doctor referred me urgently. But gynacology are not prepared to deal with it urgently. They claim my bloods and scans are reassuring. This doesn't stop me from being in pain and flooding.

OP posts:
MollysLips · 04/03/2019 20:30

Can you take Norethisterone at the same time as Cerrazette? They're both contraceptive pills, aren't they?

I wonder if it's endometriosis?

Unfortunately, you're going to have to keep making a fuss until you're taken seriously. As soon as I saw a gynaecologist, I had loads of options. Until then, it was a matter of coping with torrential 2-week-long periods, coming every 3 weeks, and feeling exhausted from losing so much blood.

And YES to getting better treatment from female doctors! My male GP fobbed me off, but a woman GP got me on iron tablets and referred to the gynae clinic ASAP.

MollysLips · 04/03/2019 20:34

I just googled and Norethisterone is a synthetic progesterone pill, and Cerazette is also a progesterone-only pill.

Dollymix123 · 04/03/2019 20:59

So they are both the same?
I thought that, and asked why she would try me on a different pop pill. As was sure that's what Cerrezette was.
She said if it doesn't work they will fit a merina. So I said if a mirena is going to fix the problem then do that now.
She then back tracked and started telling me that the waiting list for the marina coil is quite long. So I might as well try this pill and see if it works.

I would just like to stop bleeding and go back to normal.

OP posts:
MollysLips · 05/03/2019 09:48

You can get Mirena coils fitted in many different places, like family-planning clinics, etc.

I must say though, if you're already getting cramps and bleeding after pelvic examinations, you might want that to settle or discover the cause before you try to endure a Mirena insertion!

How is it today?

Dollymix123 · 05/03/2019 16:55

Pills work. Bleeding has stopped. Yay!
Pain in lower back. On one side.

OP posts:
Fishwifecalling · 06/03/2019 08:05

Yay indeed.

Dollymix123 · 07/03/2019 06:01

Spoke too soon..

But got through my interview.

OP posts:
Dollymix123 · 11/03/2019 20:48

Still bleeding. But black blood.
Cramps and back pain. Has calmed down But still there.
Still waiting on smear results.

OP posts:
MollysLips · 12/03/2019 01:09

I'm glad you got through the interview. I hope it went well :)

Maybe try to see a female GP?

Dollymix123 · 13/03/2019 20:42

I got the job. Felt a bit better by the time I went for it.

Now the transanemoc acid (cant spell) has been taken for more than 4 days I've had to stop using it.
I'm now back at square one. And bleeding heavily.

Doctor has booked me in for a marina coil. Which I'm not thrilled about. As I'm bleeding heavily and that will make it worse till it settled.

Doctors says it's uterine bleeding and is likely because I have a hormonal imbalance, and it's period blood.

If I knock my cervix i will start bleeding and cramping within an hour. So I believe it's my cervix.. And not my uterus.

Smear results still not back.
As soon as bleeding starts I start feeling tired and hungry.

OP posts:
MollysLips · 13/03/2019 21:57

Congratulations!

The Mirena Coil goes into your cervix, though. Is this a male GP?

Smear results usually take 2-3 weeks, don't they? How long has it been?

You're not guaranteed to bleed non-stop with a Mirena. I've got one and I love it! I didn't think I would but I'm totally sold on it.

MollysLips · 13/03/2019 22:01

How's your sister doing, by the way? I hope she's ok.

Have you seen your gynaecologist yet - was that who booked you in for the coil?

You're probably really low on iron if you're bleeding. That'd make you feel really tired. Have your blood test results come back (sorry if they have; I can't remember).

Dollymix123 · 13/03/2019 22:59

Gynacology has accepted referel but not as urgent. So normal waiting period. Which doctors thinks will be a few months.

Sister is ok. Well as well as can be expected.

I don't think marina coil will solve problem. And I'm not very confident with doctors so far and their disinterest.
I'm unsure how to get a second opinion.
Smear is over 2 weeks ago. So still waiting.

OP posts:
Fishwifecalling · 13/03/2019 23:11

It's awful that it's taking so long. I hope the doctors are right. They've probably seen lots of similar cases. It's very common for heavy bleeding as you get older. Fingers crossed and hoping the smear test results come back soon.
