Cervical cancer? What else could it be?

Dollymix123 · 27/02/2019 15:30

I have had a smear- awaiting results but told that the cervix looks healthy.

I have had my bloods taken- this has come back as 'fine' what is the purpose of taking my blood? If it's fine does that mean I do not have anything wrong?

I had an internal and external scan at my gp surgery where they referred me. They said it is not fibroids. But they couldn't see fully.

I have had for the last 12months increase in discharge this has always been clear but appeared to be constant.

I have had cramps throughout my cycle. More common recently.

I began to bleed in December.
I have been flooding at points.
I stop bleeding and start again following any pelvic exam.

I am in pain in my pelvis which radiates, I can have stabbing pro longed pains on one side.
I have stabbing pains in points in my lower back but not always the same places the pains seems to move and is not constant. It seems worse at night and in the morning.
I am exhausted.

I have been referred to a gynocologist. And am awaiting to hear of an appointment. This was on the basis that I begged them too.

My sister was diagnosed last week with cervical cancer she is 1 year younger than me.

I am worried. But would rather know what is wrong with me. So that I can deal with it.

Eugh. Feel really rough this morning.
Bled quite a bit last night. Through my clothing. But the pain in my back is awful.
Had a bath and a coffee. Was hoping I would feel a bit better to get dressed for work.

I have no confidence in the doctors.

Firstly they should have booked me in for a smear when I first complained.
Instead they booked me in for an appointment that didn't include a smear but told me it did. Which has delayed any diagnosis by 2 months. Was a complete nightmare to get an appointment in the first place.

It's so difficult to get an appointment, and the receptionists are so patronising. As in is it life or death emergency appointment? Or I'll have to wait 4 weeks.

Also the doctor herself is patronising. She gave no advise on how to stop the bleeding, until 8 weeks into flooding and several emergency appointments later. After i told them my sister has just been diagnosed with cervical cancer.

The blood tests were fine, but were taken in a period where I was just spotting and not flooding.

The doctor has told me that it would be extremely rare for both me and my sister to get the same type of cancer at the same time. And on the grounds of that I was descaled from urgent to non urgent.
Whilst patronising me and talking to me like a child.

In the meantime I've been bleeding constantly since mid december. With constant stomach cramps and severe lower back pain. I've been given a ridiculous amount of drugs, which only worked temporarily. I'm wearing and soaking pads daily.
I've tried phoning emergency doctors, and I've made at least 8 trips to the doctors and 3 calls from them.
I'm at a loss what else I can do.

You could pay for a private consultation with a gynaecologist.

LooseSeal2 · 14/03/2019 08:07

Can you see another GP? Mine is really good at referrals, if I was in your situation I would be trying another GP, if no luck there I’d be looking to go private. Initial consultations are around £150.

I have endometriosis but everyone’s symptoms are different, also my current gynaecologist is crap (IMO) so I’m looking for a private consultation too.

Dollymix123 · 14/03/2019 18:17

I'm bleeding bright red blood from my bum.
I thought I was before. But kept thinking I must have wiped it there or it ran there.
But nope definitely bleeding from both.
Have made an emergency appointment for 9am tomorrow. Doctors were listening to me.

MollysLips · 14/03/2019 20:09

I think I had that a few times, when my periods were at their most torrential. I don't know what caused it, but it eventually stopped. Could it be piles, of your spending a long time on the loo with the periods?

I'm really glad you've got an appointment. Please take as much evidence as you can - dates, the times you've bled through clothes, even a photo of the toilet bowl looking like a murder scene after you've just sat on it for 2 minutes. Shock them, you CANNOT live like this.

RunAndBeeHappy · 14/03/2019 20:23

thinking of you op

im going through gynae issues, its horrific

Dollymix123 · 14/03/2019 21:04

It is horrific.
It's horrid.

Fishwifecalling · 14/03/2019 23:53

Good luck for tomorrow.

InglouriousBasterd · 15/03/2019 00:04

Omg you poor thing. It’s hideous how much women are fobbed off.

I had major gynae issues a few years back and ended up paying for a private consultation. He then put me back into the nhs system but his input (as a professor) made them actually listen.

All in - with a scan - it was £250 and this is London prices. So worth it.

Dollymix123 · 15/03/2019 06:32

£250 is worth it. Not sure how to go about it? Is there anywhere I can speak to about it?

Woke up bursting for a wee, felt like something had exploded. And then it was just pain as I had a wee. Really need to know what is going on. I'm tired of them feeding me rubbish.
My bleeding this morning is constant bright flow..all fresh blood.

Fishwifecalling · 15/03/2019 07:23

All them to refer you privately when you speak to the doctor this morning.

Imacliche · 15/03/2019 07:25

I was on a 2 week cancer referral last year for similar symptoms. Just recovering from a hysterectomy. Turns out it was adenomyosis, potential endo , cervical ectroption and post ablation sterilisation syndrome (failed ablation) it took me a year of tests and numerous appointments, tests, bloods etc to get to the bottom of it. I was prescribed morphine the pain was so severe. One tip i have is to keep on at them and make them get to rhe bottom of it.
Im 30 by the way.

Dollymix123 · 15/03/2019 12:13

Thank you all for sharing your experiences.

I managed to get the letter that the gynacology sent to my doctor.
It states that the ultrasound shows a small cyst on my right ovary, that both ovaries are of normal size. They think that the lining of my womb is too thick for someone of my age and this is the reason why I have been referred to a menstrual clinic.
I also have a water infection. As the doctor took a sample.
I am back in a few hours to have a physical exam.

OP posts:
Fishwifecalling · 15/03/2019 17:23

The water infection would explain the pain then. It's sounding hopeful that it's nothing too serious.

Dollymix123 · 15/03/2019 18:22

Physical exam confirmed I am bleeding from the rectum.
She thinks it's endometriosis, but can't diagnose it as specialists have to do that. And it could still be something else.
But she said it was not hormonal.
So just awaiting gynacology referal

OP posts:
Fishwifecalling · 15/03/2019 19:09

What did she have to say about the palaver of fobbing you off all the time?

MollysLips · 15/03/2019 22:03

Thank you for updating. I've been thinking about you and hoping you're ok. You must be so fed up.

I hope you don't have to wait long for the gynae referral - will they put you in the fast-track now? I'd really like to think they wouldn't leave you to bleed like this for months.

Please ensure you're taking daily Iron supplements. You're losing so much blood that anaemia is a real risk, and that's make you feel awful and (weirdly) it can make your periods even heavier. Please take a decent iron pill. Not the gentle Spatone type and not ones that come in a multivitamin; ask your pharmacist for the strongest ones you can buy.

I'd happily donate to a crowdfund towards a private gynae consultation.

Dollymix123 · 16/03/2019 08:08

Thats so lovely Mollylips x

Thank you all so much x

Ok so have been takin transanemic acid, new contraceptive pills and anti biotics.
Woke up feeling much better.
Then cramps started, and I needed the loo.
Noticed that i havent bled all night and towel is still clean.
When my bowels moved (or the posher way of saying a number 2) when I wiped there was lots of dark red blood from my vagina.
Have just checked again and since going to the loo I've bled quite a bit.

I don't think contraceptive pill will sort this. I think I will just continue to bleed heavily.
I have a stool sample to send tomorrow to check for chronic illness.

OP posts:
MollysLips · 17/03/2019 20:23

I know I keep banging on about this, but how are your iron levels??

Dollymix123 · 18/03/2019 07:50

I'll find out today. I would imagine results will be back.
I'm sick from work now for the first time. I've just had enough.

Redskyandrainbows67 · 18/03/2019 08:01

I hope you get some answers.

It would be extremely rare for both you and your sister to get cancer.

MollysLips · 18/03/2019 10:57

I'm glad you've taken the day off -- please relax and take care of yourself. REST.

Nat6999 · 18/03/2019 11:06

The only way to diagnose endometriosis is through a laparoscopy. Ask your GP to refer you through NHS choices to a Gynaecologist at your nearest private hospital. You get private treatment on the NHS, when you next see your GP quote the Nice guidelines on endometriosis, you can look them up online.
