Called back so fast after ultrasound, so scared

Hi everyone, hope I’m posting I. The right place. I’m new to this.
I’m hoping someone can share a similar experience. I went to my Dr as I have been bleeding between periods, mainly around ovulation and experiencing pain In the pelvic are. My GP refer to guns who I saw on the 16th, he said cervix looked normal but there was a lot of brown blood up there. I had an ultra sound last Thursday and yesterday (only 3 working days after) received a letter sent 1st class asking me to come in this Friday. I already had a pre-arranged appt on the 14th December 2018 so they have cancelled that one and brought it forward quite significantly. I called up and spoke to the secretary who said it was to discuss my results but wouldn’t tell me what they were.
When I was having the ultra sound the tech wouldn’t tell me anything she look worried and then did an transvaginal one so I knew she needed to look at something more closel. I asked did she see anything and she said she saw a uterine polyp but wouldn’t say anything else and asked me who referred me. I feel she saw more.
I’m so scared due to the urgent call back. I will be seen a week after the ultrasound. Has anyone else had this and it’s beem something and nothing.

So sorry for essay xx

I think as others have said, this is down to the 2 week rule. You have been referred as urgent by your GP so they need to see you as soon as possible. The later appointment was probably made because they originally couldn’t see you in time and would have missed target. They have had a cancellation so they have brought it forward. Hopefully it is simple as that. However, by the end of Friday you will probably know what you are dealing with and what the plan is, and that will be easier to deal with than your current limbo. Good luck.

SongforSal · 28/11/2018 16:58

I was in your position exactly 2weeks ago. I get how scary it is, I stupidly used Google and convinced myself of the worse. Turns out one of my overies is slightly enlarged, like you I have been bleeding a lot. One week on, one week of. All they have advised now are pain killers when it gets bad. Good luck, easier said than done, but try not to worry and get in a state like I did x

My DH had an ultrasound for a suspect lump on his ball a few years ago. The sonographer thought it was suspect and she paged 8 members of the urology team until someone said they would see him there and then. Turned out it was a tumour and within two hours of the scan he was booked in for surgery the following week.

Not saying yours is definitely nothing but in his case they acted there and then. So I hope this makes you feel better. Fingers crossed for Friday. Flowers

Sillybilly83 · 28/11/2018 17:10

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences with me and wishing me well.

Songforsal, can I ask if you got recalled quite quickly and was it by letter or phone? X

CoperCabana · 28/11/2018 17:45

Hi Silly. I really wouldn’t obsess about the phone versus post thing. Every hospital department does it differently. I have had phone calls for arranging appointments and letters for recalls and once I just got sent the mammography report. So not even consistent when from the same department. I wouldn’t draw any conclusions by method of contact. I also once got recalled from a mammogram about three weeks after the event, when usually I get the letter within a week. The following year it took four weeks to get an all clear. Hospital admin makes no sense in my experience.

Sillybilly83 · 28/11/2018 17:50

Hi Coper, thanks for sharing your experience. To be honest though I’m more worried about how quickly I have been called back. It had only been 3 days since my ultrasound when they sent the letter re arranging and bringing forward my previous appointment x

It is most likely nothing.

Try not to worry. There is in all honesty very little that can go seriously wrong womb-wise in someone your age. I've got almost another 30 years on you- it's my age group that are at risk.

Sillybilly83 · 28/11/2018 17:51

Wineymummy thank you that does give me some reassurance but so sorry for you other half, hope all is well now x

He is fine thank you Silly (touch wood), he had the surgery and needed no further treatment because it was caught early.

TwitterQueen1 · 28/11/2018 18:20

QueenoftheNights I know you are intending to reassure but your statement that "in all honesty very little that can go seriously wrong womb-wise in someone your age" is incorrect and irresponsible.

You are absolutely right to say that "It is most likely nothing" but anyone experiencing any kind of unease about what might be potential symptoms of something (eg colon, cervix, stomach, ovaries) should always go to the doctor to get it checked out. There are far, far too many cancer patients who dismissed their symptoms because they were too young/fat/thin/whatever ....

Sillybilly83 · 28/11/2018 18:47

You’ve all been such a great help. I know your all trying to reassure me but also not being unrealistic.

I guess I’ll know by Friday one way or another. I will update you all x

TwitterQueen1
Nowhere in my posts have I said a woman should not go to her dr or have tests, have I?

The OP has been, has had tests, and I am trying to reassure her that statistically, the chances of something seriously amiss are pretty low in comparison with older women.

QueenoftheNights · 28/11/2018 19:58

and I take issue with you calling me irresponsible. I've not said anything to suggest women do not seek medical opinions. You are reading things that are not in my posts.

TwitterQueen1 · 28/11/2018 20:27

I repeat. You made a very irresponsible and incorrect statement. Youth is no guarantee of immunity against cancer.

hewhinessoshewines · 28/11/2018 20:30

I hope everything comes back ok op

Strawberrybelly · 28/11/2018 20:35

Good luck for Friday.

CoperCabana · 28/11/2018 21:47

Good luck op.

Sillybilly83 · 28/11/2018 22:27

Thanks for wishing me luck everyone and for all of your stories and advice xx

Youth is no guarantee of immunity against cancer.

Goodness you like to twist things! what's this all about?

I didn't say it was. I said look at the stats.

I come along here trying to reassure the OP that it's most likely ok (as have plenty of other posters) and you start having a go and inventing things I've not said. Start and understand how your own posts read.

@SillyBilly come back and let us know and good luck Flowers

ReggieKrayDoYouKnowMyName · 29/11/2018 08:18

Just wanted to say OP that I’ve always had transvaginal scans for gynae issues. Just means they can get a closer look. Good luck tomorrow.

Sillybilly83 · 29/11/2018 08:24

Thanks so much, will let you all know how I get on x

OP posts:
OddBoots · 29/11/2018 19:17

I don't have time to write much but earlier this year I had much the same, they can't tell what these things are by ultrasound and blood tests don't tell anything clear either, the only way is biopsy hence the quick appointment.

I had the growths removed and sent for biopsy and they were just polyps, large ones but just polyps.

It was a stressful wait but if you are pre-menopausal the statistics are very much in your favour.

Hubblebubbletripletrouble · 29/11/2018 19:20

Sorry I dont have anything useful for say but just wanted to pass on Flowers I hope everything's ok tomorrow.

WipsGlitter · 29/11/2018 19:23

Hopefully it will all be ok. 🤞🏻

Iwantiwantiwant · 29/11/2018 20:30

Just read this thread Silly! Thinking of you, I'm in a somewhat similar situation, and I am worried sick. Please update xxx
