That scene at the beginning where they each find a book under their pillow. What book is it? I ask because I have always thought one thing-and I discover my best bookish friend thinks something else….

I had chilblains during our 'in by Xmas' house purchase. 3 winters running.
I credit all that resilient childhood fiction for getting me through that ridiculous buy a wreck, do it up nonsense. It took fucking years aud its still not finished.
Have lit the wood burner and about to drink a glass of Port whilst finishing a Persephone book. So not all bad.

@catinateacup When I was very young and working as a nurse the surgeons used to prescribe antibiotics pre treatment for anyone who had scarlet fever as a child. These people were older and as it was the 1980’s they would have had the disease before antibiotics were available in the 1940’s I’m sure they used to say it was because there was scarring on the heart to the patients.
