Ever read any Penny Vincenzi? The queen of chick lit, to me.
Lots of family sagas, glamorous people and all the other wonderful clichés of the genre.
Absolutely, totally absorbing.

GLC789 · 16/09/2024 23:25

Love this!!

I love that there are others like me out there who are not ashamed to admit they love a good romance book (even if it has a purple cover!)

I recently joined a book club and lasted one meeting as I was ridiculed for my taste! Sad really, that people have time to judge a person on there preferences of an activity that is meant to be enjoyed alone!

Most of these names I've not heard of, so excited to add some fresh authors to my collection.

Now here is my suggestion back to you all.

Mary Campisi - A Family Affair Saga. It's on Kindle and it's a series that just keeps on giving! X

Anything by Katie Fforde

TandyhatesAmanda · 17/09/2024 00:19

Mr Maybe by Jane Green is brilliant.

BackToRealitySigh · 17/09/2024 00:32

I've just read yhe latest Marion Keyes & Seven Summers by Paige Toon. Jane Fallon is 99p on amazon quite often too and a good read.
My fave chick lit writers are Louise Bagshawe, Tilly Bagshawe & Tasmina Perry and of course the Queen herself Jilly Cooper!

WayDownThere · 17/09/2024 00:56

Rachel's Holiday by Marian Keyes

I am reading Away with the penguins at the moment. It's rubbish, but enjoyable rubbish iyswim

HolidayNanny · 18/09/2024 12:49

It's got to be Sophie Kinsella! My favourites are 'Wedding Night', 'My Not-so-perfect Life' and 'The Undomestic Goddess'. They tend to be pretty funny and are easy to read without being painfully cheesy.

Bluebellsinthewind · 18/09/2024 22:13

Just thought of another one. Veronica Henry, the Honeycote 3 book series are really good.

Sorry won't let me tag HolidayNanny. You are the only person I've ever found who has read The Undomestic Goddess, it's one of my favourite books.

The only way is up by Carole Matthews is a good book.

Thanks for this thread @GLC789 I have found my people Grin I have over 100 of these types of books, Happy to recommend some more, if anyone would like.

GLC789 · 19/09/2024 07:57

I’m always happy to recommend ‘I wish it could be Christmas everyday’ by Milly Johnson. A great, light Christmas read.

Bobbi730 · 19/09/2024 08:09

You're well out of a group that ridicules anyone's taste.
I love Marion Keyes, My friend, who did literature at Uni and is now an editor, loves a bit of Marion as well as War and Peace or whatever she's reading. Literally never judges anyone. Books are the best

Chasingsquirrels · 19/09/2024 08:09

If you are reading on Kindle, then sign up to the BookBub emails, choose your category and download the free ones which look appealing.
I've got tonnes of this type of book although I've been reading more historical fiction recently.

Anything by Katie Fforde

Agree with this if you mean chick lit... It's not necessarily chic, though!
