Another vote for JD Kirk!

RitaIncognita · 16/03/2024 00:13

Another vote for Denise Mina.
And Rankin, of course.

Two of my favourite authors @highlandcoo. The Blackhouse trilogy was brilliant, and I love Shetland.

PurpleSealion · 16/03/2024 00:38

Stuart McBride & JD Kirk are my favourites.

Have to watched Val McDermid's Karen Pirie on ITV. Very good.

ZiggyZowie · 16/03/2024 00:57

Anything with Dougie Henshall in it ❤

PurpleSealion · 16/03/2024 01:09

@ZiggyZowie I'd agree with you there. A new Rebus is about to start on BBC1 with Richard Rankin in the lead role. He is worth watching. Gives off the same vibe as Dougie.

I didn't know this. Exciting news!

I’m currently reading the latest Val McDermid, she wrote Wire in the Blood, which was a great TV series.

Ian Rankin, great writing and so very very Edinburgh. Might be obvious but I think he's good.

I'm currently reading Hide and Seek. Best crime author going. Love all the mentions of places in and around Edinburgh.

PurpleSealion · 20/03/2024 20:50

I recently read the Rebus books from the start again. It was a trip down memory lane, when there was no mobile phones and computers were very basic. So enjoyed them.

Dogball · 20/03/2024 20:52

JD Kirk -easy and fun

AllMyExesWearRolexes · 23/03/2024 23:08

Craig Russell, the Lennox series, set in postwar, 40s Glasgow. Also another series, similar setting - can't recall the author but the character is called Douglas Brodie.
Second Alan Parks.

Toadonaroll · 31/03/2024 16:48

Helen Fields DI Callanach series.
Denise Mina Paddy Meehan set in 80s Glasgow.

RubyJack · 31/03/2024 17:17

The logan macrea books by Stuart MacBride.

I second, third and fourth this suggestion. Great stories and only time I ever saw my mum laugh out loud at a book
