Any McIlvanney? Makes a change from the obvious Rankin.

heldinadream · 12/03/2024 05:45

Graeme Macrae Burnet.

Plump82 · 12/03/2024 05:46

Alan Parks series is good. I'm in the middle of Bloody January.

BarrelOfOtters · 12/03/2024 17:05

Ian Rankin, great writing and so very very Edinburgh. Might be obvious but I think he's good.

I’ve never even watched the Shetland series. I wish there was something set in Orkney. Also, Aberdeen and Edinburgh. North East. Read something about ‘bible john.’ Was there a possibility he was Tobin. Worlds end killer? I enjoy reading factual mixed with 10% fiction for drama.

Lin Anderson has a series and 3 of them are set in Orkney. Rhona McLeod books - pretty sure there are 19 of them but can be read out of order without losing the thread.

WeirdPookah · 15/03/2024 10:25

Whisky From Small Glasses by Denzil Mayrick, first in a series that I enjoyed.

Denise Mina

Agree with this, she's actually my favourite crime novelist. Love the characters and the Glasgow setting.

Mylovelygreendress · 15/03/2024 18:11

Marion Todd and Alex Gray . Both brilliant .

Seymour5 · 15/03/2024 18:12

Another vote here for Denise Mina.

Seymour5 · 15/03/2024 18:13

And of course Ann Cleeves Shetland, and almost forgot Stuart MacBride.

Mopsybunnycheesestringsnotcarrots · 15/03/2024 22:22
