I'm currently reading Life after Life and The Bee Keeper of Aleppo. Both excellent but heavy. I found out today my youngest daughter will be needing open heart surgery in a few months. I could do with some uplifting funny comforting reads. I've recently re-read all the Austen novels. I like The Rivers of London Series, Enjoyed the Thursday Murder Club recently and also like some funny chick lit. Any ideas?

The debt and the doormat series by Laura Barnard.
the confessions of a shopaholic books by Sophie Kinsella

In addition to all of these excellent choices I'd recommend the Cazalet Chronicles by Elizabeth Jane Howard.
And perhaps Still Life by Sarah Winman.

Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine and the keeper of lost things are both lovely.

I thought Elinor oliphant was really sad in parts!

If you like historical fiction I recommend the Thomas Hawkins books by Antonia Hodgson.

I really enjoyed Catherine Alliott's first book the Old Girl Network. I remember it as being laugh out loud funny in parts. I liked it so much a bought a couple more of hers after that but they didn't live up to the first one so I never read any more - this is years ago though.

Would definitely recommend that first one though.
