I have loved her series and just read the House of breath and sky that came out a couple weeks ago.

I need something to fill the gap!

I have read some of Leigh Bardugo and I like it but don't love it.

I like kick ass female characters, detailed fantasy world's, twists and turns and a bit of love!

Any recommendations?

Jennifer L Armentrout has an adult series like Sarah J Maas, it's called from blood and ash and there's like 4 books so far with a new one coming out next month! Smile

Have you also tried A court of thrones and roses and the throne of glass series by Sarah?

doadeer · 25/02/2022 18:50

It's going to be soooo long till the next book haha.

I've read a court of thorns series but not the other one? I'll defo try that.

And thank you for the other recommendation!

Second the blood and ash series! The 4th is out soon. Ive just started the second in the "kingdom of the wicked" series, enjoying that one. Also have a look at serpent and dove

She is such a porny writer, I've had many a laugh at her dodgy sex scenes.

"Cassian ROARED..." etc

Aisforharlot · 25/02/2022 19:24

You will enjoy Kim Harrison's The Hollows series.

I'm sure she uses a phrase like "velvet gloved steel" at some point. And no-one EVER has mediocre sex, or relaxed sex, or bad sex - it's always described as intense, incredible fucking.

I love Sarah J Maas.

Definitely do Throne of Glass. Well worth reading.

I’ve recently discovered Natalia Jaster with the Dark Fables series. Really enjoyed it.

Also can recommend the bargainer by Laura Thalassa

I would add Fortuna Sworn by KJ Sutton to your list.

I haven't read it myself as its not the kind of thing I like but a booktuber I watch who loves Sarah Mass also loves the Fortuna Sworn books.
The booktuber is called 'Becca and the books' I would recommend her videos and she does quite a lot of Sarah Mass content.

doadeer · 05/05/2022 18:04

I'm bumping this so it's back on my active threads as I finished all of her other series and realised I had missed the latest court of thorn book! Ready for new ones as recommended now!

I love Kathryn Ann Kingsleys Masks Of Under series. I've tried to get into her other ones but I don't think anything will ever beat it. The female is strong and the 'hero' is a villain but I don't think I've ever been more in love with a character 😂 not adult as she has any steamy scenes on her website so as not to put off the folk that don't like them.

turkeyboots · 09/05/2022 13:00

I've just read Three Parts Dead by Max Gladstone which was very good. It's a series and the second one follows different characters but is going well so far.

Oooh great thank you for new recommendations!

The Fever series by Karen Marie Moaning is pretty good. Zodiac Academy by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti is very entertaining and available on Kindle Unlimited.

doadeer · 20/05/2022 18:23

Thank you! I'm enjoying the blood and ash series. I think fantasy smut is my genre 😆

Honnomushi · 20/05/2022 19:01

I really enjoyed ACOTAR and From Blood & Ash too! Kindle Unlimited is worth trying out as it has some fairly good fantasy smut books. Elise Kiva is also worth checking out and all her books are on KU.

Basilthymerosemary · 20/05/2022 19:05

So I love the books of sj Maas. I also love the following:
Patricia Briggs- Mercedes Thompson series.
Ilona andrews- Kate Daniels series
Laurel k Hamilton- merry gentry (quite raunchy 🙈)
Amanda Bouchet- the kingmaker trilogy
Kristen Britain- green rider series (not quite the same but a firm fave)
Jennifer armemntrout- the harbinger series and blood/ash series

Enjoy!!!

doadeer · 20/05/2022 20:11
