OK, I'm in true escapism mode at the moment but I've read so much fantasy stuff I think I've run out of options. I don't mind YA or adult fantasy but some authors I don't get on with (Terry Pratchett, Terry Brooks).

Below is list of some of the things I've already read -

  • All GoT
  • All LOTR
  • Patrick Rothfuss books
  • Mark Lawrence Red Sister Trilogy and the latest one think it was called 'The Girl and the Stars'
  • All Cassandra Clare books
  • Hollly Black folk of the air trilogy
  • Terry Brooks genesis or Shannara, original Shannara Trilogy and a few more but have got fed up of these as they are always the same plot
  • Neil Gaiman
  • Sarah J Mass - ACOTAR and ToG
  • lots more YA e.g. Rachel Caine Great Library series
  • Pierce Brown - Red Rising series

Please help ... I have loads of books on my Kindle but I don't want to read about serial killers, dystopian universes, family sagas, science fiction, etc etc

Oh and Raymond E Feist if you haven't read any of his stuff. High fantasy. Brilliant world building and characters.

I’ve just remembered another fantasy author I read a lot of years ago - KJ Parker. Pretty dark in places but very well written.

If you like Star Wars/sci fi the Timothy Zahn books are pretty enjoyable. I liked his Conquerers trilogy too.

Katharine Kerr - Deverry Cycle

I've just finished The Dark Tower series by Stephen King for the 2nd time. I couldn't get into it for ages, but once it got going I loved it.

Finished the Throne of Glass books recently by Maas and have been wondering what else to try since. This thread has given me so many ideas and inspiration!

Although not the OP thank you for all the great suggestions. I've just put my request in at the local library!

The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Barnes is a good new YA novel. And I suspect there will be a sequel.
