I’ve recently finished the child by Fiona Barton which I thought was good and was a definite page turner.
Suggestions please Smile

Long bright river by Liz Moore published this year. A well written drug and prostitute/wrong side of the tracks story based in Philadelphia. The reader can see through the first person account of a police officer looking for her sister. We can see things about her past that she can‘t see.

I am a big fan of American crime/detective fiction and these are my go to authors:
Jeffrey Deaver
Karin Slaughter
John Sandford

I also love Val McDermid.

Have just read the third of J P Delaney's books - they're quite gripping.

The last genuine "whole family raced through them one summer, fighting over who got the next one next" books we read were the Orphan X series.

I second Into the darkest corner, read it within two days

Cara Hunter's Adam Fawley series are so good. Real pageturners. They're set in modern day Oxford ( but not in the world of Inspector Morse).

It's best to read them in order and I think they would make a great TV series

I agree Winnie, there is so much rubbish put there but DI Fawley is good.

TheMemoryLingers · 05/03/2020 16:35

Yes, DI Fawley is one of the few police point-of-view protagonists I have time for.

ChessieFL · 05/03/2020 17:05

I also like Cara Hunter. There’s a fourth one as well, All The Rage.

I agree with a PP, Clare Macintosh is fantastic

All the Karin Slaughter 'Will Trent series' are fab reads (or in my case, listens, as I tend to use audiobooks on the mammoth commute to London!)

Others I've read recently and really enjoyed are:

  • Blood Orange
  • The Silent Patient
  • My Lovely Wife
  • The Woman in the Window
  • Before I Let You In
  • How I Lost You

I've just finished Gone, by Leona Deakin and loved that!
Others I've enjoyed are
John Marrs, anything by this author is great!
Karin Slaughter, again, everything she writes is fantastic (though I wasn't keen on Pieces of her, which has been picked up by netflix, she has other books that would have been far better)
M J Arlidge is also a favourite of mine.
