Loved this book

sweir1 · 22/09/2016 19:38

My boys loved this

GERTA · 24/09/2016 06:56

My kids LOVED it. I felt like a yoga instructor reading the book while sitting on the floor and explaining the kids what to do. A very interesting read and a brilliant way to get the kids to excercise.

beckyinman · 24/09/2016 22:56

Very cute and a great idea

FeelingSmurfy · 26/09/2016 00:28

Nice story, interesting concept of combining it with yoga positions.

We enjoyed but I think it would flow better if it was on a dvd (and I am a strong believer in real books and less screen time!) so that you can watch while doing positions, and it's being read continously rather than reader stopping to join in with the positions or help children with positions. I think we would use it more that way, this way was a bit of the newness encouraging us

We loved it, thank you so much for the free copy. 3 yo DD was very excited when it arrived. We tried it out along with her cousin who is 5 and they got quite competitive about who did the best poses. I have done yoga in the past so could demonstrate and got stuck in myself. I'm definitely going to check out the cosmic kids you tube channel too

My youngest has really enjoyed this book and its one I think we will be coming back to time and time again.

Thank you mumsnet for our copy. My (just-turned) 9 year old daughter was really excited and happy to receive this book as she already knew the programme (from the youtube channel I guess). The very first day we got it, she read it to us before bed and had her Dad, me and her little brother doing all the poses with her! It was a really fun family moment. As well as being good for introducing kids to yoga, the story is engaging and the message about coping with feelings of frustration and anger was well-timed for us as my daughter is struggling with controlling her anger at the moment.

Violet had a great time when we read this!

cathyjam · 02/10/2016 15:29

fab book

mazgoli · 03/10/2016 01:00

This is a lovely introduction to yoga for children. I shall enjoy reading this with my grandchildren and getting the yoga mats out to do the moves as we read the book. There are some lovely positive affirmations at the end of the book too. Children have wonderfully vivid imaginations and this book is all about and acting out a story using basic yoga moves. Love it!

CordeliaScott · 03/10/2016 16:11

Thank you Mumsnet for my copy of this book.

I found it a very enjoyable, interactive story. Although it did make me realise that I'm not quite as balanced and flexible as I used to be. I had never heard of the YouTube videos before and it has certainly made me more likely to search them out. I did find that DD had a slightly short attention span and wasn't able to do much of the book in one go without wanting to run off or create her own poses. I also think that it was a little difficult trying to read and do the poses as it went along and think it would be better on a DVD.

rupert23 · 03/10/2016 16:19

I love this book and my son did too.i do yoga and me and my son did this together and it was fun.it encourages children to keep fit and have fun

Pidgythe2nd · 03/10/2016 19:33

Thanks for the book. My children enjoyed the various poses (2 and 4). It's a good way to get active in a more controlled way inside, and I probably wouldn't have thought of doing yoga with them.
We didn't do the book in one sitting, instead we read half at a time, but then went back to the poses that they liked.
It made it really fun and accessible for all ages I thought.

millionnaireshortbread · 04/10/2016 20:14

Now I can enjoy what I love doing best with my child. So inspirational, all mothers should read this with their children.

peanutmum111 · 05/10/2016 01:33

I loved the book as well as the children. We enjoyed the story, had fun doing the shapes ............. we laughed !!!!! good exercise for me !!!!!!!!
A wonderful idea for a book with activity

stewaris · 05/10/2016 06:36

Mine loved it and it's so funny watching them trying to do yoga. Although my son always did do a mean downward dog and lion pose.

TenaciousOne · 06/10/2016 21:46

We have loved this book, we have been using it in our unwinding session at night getting ready for bed. I would love to have the time to make it a routine in the morning as well as it's lovely to have some calm time with DS in the morning and evening.

sealight123 · 08/10/2016 22:59

When the boom first arrived I got it out and went through it with my daughter (who is 5) and she loved it but lost interest after a little bit.

Interestingly though, when I got it out when my cousin was around too (who is also 5) she was a lot more engaged. It's something that is great to do together as a calming, focused activity.

I've caught my daughter reading it on her own and doing the actions when I've popped out of the room to prepare dinner/tea.

It is a lovely book, colourful and has really great illustrations.
My daughter is bringing it to the childminders with her on Monday so they can do the actions as a group activity too! :)

marinaii · 10/10/2016 13:40

A lovely book for both kids and their parents. Not only is it full of smiles and positivity but it also shows children that Yoga is fun and could teach them lots of important things.
