I know I've been hogging the boards the last few days, but I don't care :P Just been curious on other peoples opinions on things.

I didn't know where to put this, so I apologise if it's in the wrong category.

I was wondering what everyones favourite Urban Legend/Cautionary Tale was. I have been fascinated in them for pretty much forever, due to so many meanings and of course expressing the nations fears.

So what are your favourites? Feel free to share the UL with us! :)

Yes I thought that but then I also thought she's been in the same room as the killer and he's done nothing even though the only other person there is a baby. So what's he doing all that time? Lurking? When she goes back downstairs does he stay put and start cleaning his nails or something? Same as the killer with the jigsaw puzzle IMO. Too much time on his hands.

Ooooh A whole load of slender man pictures Shock

Although to be fair, on some I can't really make out where he is.....

EauRouge · 20/08/2012 09:46

SausageSmuggler · 20/08/2012 12:14

Grin eaurouge

BertieBotts · 20/08/2012 12:58

Looook! My friend made Slenderman nails! This really creeped me out because of this thread...

shrinkingnora · 20/08/2012 16:22

Ok, these make me jump. Well, the first two anyway.

shrinkingnora · 20/08/2012 16:30

these for fuck's sake I'm a bit tired in my defence!

headfairy · 20/08/2012 23:41

I'm loving this thread, although my beauty routine is shot through at the moment. Whenever I'm spooked I can never wash my face properly because in creepy films it's always when our heroine washes her face that she bends upright to look in the mirror that she sees the ghost/mad axe murderer/spooky twins etc. so the eye make up will just have to stay on tonight! Grin

Someone up thread was talking about creepy films. One I always remember is another remake of a Japanese film, I can't remember what it's called but it's about an American guy working in Japan who years before was involved in the death of a Japanese girl who had a crush on him. The girls spirit comes back to haunt him. One particularly freaky scene I remember involves the guy walking around his flat with terrible back ache that he's had for a while. As he walks past a mirror he catches sight of his reflection and for a split second he sees the spirit of the dead girl there, sitting on his shoulders. Freaked me out good and proper and sent me running to the door of chiropractor

headfairy · 20/08/2012 23:51

oops, it was Korean, not Japanese

headfairy · 20/08/2012 23:51

Argh, Thai I meant. Eventually I'll get it right.

EauRouge · 21/08/2012 08:48

I saw that film, it had him from Dawson's Creek in it. Not Dawson, the other one. It was a very creepy film, I was worried it was going to be another cheesy remake but that scene you mentioned scared the pants off me.

Elsqueak · 21/08/2012 09:29

Some Japanese urban legends...the Teke Teke one is creepy!

If I ever go to Japan I'll be sure to use the men's loos.

LordOfThe5Rings · 22/08/2012 00:37

Arf @ Japanese toilet ghosts!

EauRouge · 22/08/2012 09:14

I've been at the creepy pasta again. Can anyone see the picture on this story? It's just black for me, I don't know if it's my computer.

ObviouslyItsTheOlympics · 22/08/2012 09:21

There's no picture at all on my phone.

EauRouge · 22/08/2012 09:30

Well the story did say it was dark, maybe she didn't have a flash on her camera.

Elsqueak · 22/08/2012 09:37

I find Japanese horror the most scary (Ring, The Grudge, Dark Water, Pulse etc) not sure why. The US remakes just didn't scare me. Why? What's more scary about horror films with subtitles?!

Found this link too...only looked at it for about 2 seconds before bailing like a big wuss. See how long you can last...moo ha ha ha!

Ha! I wish I had the luxury of being able to sit and stare at something for 5 minutes without having a small child climb at me saying 'what are you looking at, mummy? Can I see?'

SausageSmuggler · 22/08/2012 10:13

From this thread I had a few days of being slightly addicted to the creepy pasta site, most of it seemed to be written by 13 year olds so I didn't find it scary. Then I read one that did really disturb me so i've stopped going on there now.

SausageSmuggler · 22/08/2012 10:31

Eau there is a face in that pic but I could only see it when I looked at my laptop screen at a certain angle. The face looks like a skinny pokemon character i.e. not scary at all.

EauRouge · 22/08/2012 11:01

I just highlighted it and I could see it then. It's no smile dog, is it?

What was the really disturbing creepy pasta?

SausageSmuggler · 22/08/2012 11:23

Ummm I think it was called the dating game. It's not ghostly but horrible and involves children which, after having my own, I can't handle really.

EauRouge · 22/08/2012 11:50

Oh, I'll give that one a miss then. Thanks for the heads up!
