I know I've been hogging the boards the last few days, but I don't care :P Just been curious on other peoples opinions on things.

I didn't know where to put this, so I apologise if it's in the wrong category.

I was wondering what everyones favourite Urban Legend/Cautionary Tale was. I have been fascinated in them for pretty much forever, due to so many meanings and of course expressing the nations fears.

So what are your favourites? Feel free to share the UL with us! :)

On the 10th March 2012 we took a trek in the Bleaklow area of the Peak Distrct, the weather was cold and misty and we stumbled across what we now know is the remains of a crash site.
DP took some photos of the huge crash site and happy with some of the photos of a piece of history, they were posted in an album on Facebook. A week later a friend commented on one of the photos stating they could see 'something' in the photo.
There has been a fair bit of interest in the photo, some people claiming that they can see a 'Ghost', some people suggesting it was the 'light' and some people claiming the photo is fake.
Where as I don't actually believe in Ghosts but at the same time I cannot explain what was in the photo, there were two of us looking in the direction of the 'unexplained object' when the photo was taken and neither of us spotted what would have been impossible not to see and there was nobody else in the area. So I am not claiming this to be a Ghost but the photo is exactly as it was taken, nothing has been changed and nothing added, so make your own mind up....

Researching after, I have found that in this area of the Peak District, there are frequent supernatural sightings' with walkers and visitors claiming to have seen unexplained 'people' and even 'phantom planes'. The details of the actual crash are:

On 3 November 1948, USAF Boeing RB-29A Superfortress 44-61999, of the 16th Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron, 91st Reconnaissance Group, 311th Air Division, Strategic Air Command; crashed at Higher Shelf Stones, Bleaklow, whilst on route from Scampton to Burtonwood. All 13 crewmembers were killed. A large amount of wreckage is still visible, as a memorial to the crash. Also, a proper memorial was erected at the site in 1988. There is public access to the area.

I just witnessed a terrifying sight at my patio door. I opened the fridge and there in the reflection of the fridge light on the window, stood a hideous gargoyle with sticky up hair, a grubby stained t shirt and baggy knickers shoving a ryvita sideways in her mouth and slurping a carton of milk around it.

Shock

Luckily I slammed the fridge shut and she disappeared.

Grin

I had a similar thing happen to me just before, I went to the kitchen to get a glass of water and a packet of crisps from the cupboard and the most hideous site greeted me in the window.

A pale, barely clothed woman with a saggy belly.

Hideous!

When I was younger me and a group of friends decided to go to a known park in Leeds. It was around 11 at night when wesaw a huge group at the other side of the lake, all wearing white with what looked like sticks on fire.

They were chanting some weird language.Any way been the idiots we were we thought we would get closer.

We got behind a bush and watched them. The were burning what looked like a cat! We shit are selves and ran!

We kept looking back and the people were now facing us and watching us run.

We went back a few days later and in a old fire pit were bones! We think they were devil worshipers. I'd love to go back and see if it happens again.

Google the ebay painting!

My friend knew a woman who had arranged a 2 week holiday for herself and her husband. The couple had a 6 mth old baby who would be looked after in their home by the husbands sister. On the day of their departure, the aunt was late to arrive to look after the baby. If left any longer the couple were anxious they would miss their flight. They phoned the husbands sister, who stated she had gotten caught up in traffic and was literally around the corner. The wife told her she and her husband would leave immediately for the airport and that the child was in her highchair having breakfast. When the couple returned from their holiday, their child was were they left her, in her highchair dead. The husbands sister had been killed in a RTA seconds after hanging up her mobile phone!

Seriously disturbing !!

Seshat · 11/08/2012 10:43

Ebay haunted painting!!

SPsFanjoSponsorsTheOlympics · 11/08/2012 11:53

Isn't there a picture that is known to cause house fires or something?

My nanna had a picture of a girl stood in a corner upset with a lassie type dog sat with her. It used to creep me out!

Cherubim · 11/08/2012 12:17

Bloody hell, I'm pretty hardcore, but those stickmen proper creeped me out last night... I went out to the shed for a cigarette before bed and I was really paranoid

whatkungfuthat · 11/08/2012 13:06

crying boy cursed picture this is the fire one

The ebay painting didn't scare me, unless I haven't seen the right link. Maybe perhaps the artist is still alive.
