Looking for a support group...

Hey everyone! Wondering if anyone is interested in another support group? I'm about to return to meetings in a week or so and I'm in desperate need of extra motivation. I've done so well in the past and I've backslidden so much :( I've also got about six stone to lose so it won't be an easy journey.... but I'd love to share top tips and support if anyone else is interested?

I've not got into the swing of things with dinners yet so with it being so hot (aside from today) have being having salads with halloumi, blue cheese or goats cheese.

I used to like the forums for ideas but they seem to have been replaced with connect which I don't like as much. Also the recipe section doesn't seem as good on the app. Will have to check the desktop site.

Blondielongie · 27/06/2017 18:27

Oh I love halloumi!

PippaRose · 27/06/2017 18:46

Yes a little bit makes a salad less diety!

Mummybear1984 · 27/06/2017 22:46

Hi everyone,
Had my first weigh in tonight, I'm 14stone 12lbs. Lots more than I wanted. I get 30 daily points and 42 weekly.

Have started looking at foods and planning for days I can be good. Won't have a huge loss for my first week as I'm at the spa and hen do but will be on track where I can.

How is everyone else doing?

Blondielongie · 28/06/2017 18:21

Well done Mummybear! :)
I've had a lentil curry for dinner with couscous. Also didn't eat many points during the day (fruit and toast for breakfast)so can have a snack later. My little boy liked the curry too. Which was good, thought I might have to make two different dinners.

For those with little ones, how do you fatten out their meals when they eat same as you? I don't want my son doing WW! haha. I've been putting cheese and things on everything and giving larger portions of meat. He's about 18 months old.

sez49 · 28/06/2017 19:53

DS (7) is so fussy, so I often do separate stuff for him. I try to keep some elements the same, so it isn't all completely different. DH is eating the same as me, as he wanted to support me and to lose weight at the same time.

I love Halloumi too. Do you go for the reduced fat version? I also love the reduced fat Brie from M&S.

TheTigerWhoCame2Tea · 28/06/2017 21:32

Well done for going Mummy! It's scary the first time (I'm dreading getting on that scale next week)

I hope you have a fantastic first week.
I stocked up on healthy snacks etc today but I've found this week really hard. I keep putting off being better thinking - well I'm going to join next week so I should wait til then... but I know that's not the right attitude :( I might see if I can make it to a first meeting on Saturday to join instead.

I also need to exercise more - the weather is pretty miserable outside and I know I'm just making excuses. I need to get back in the game.

How is everyone else getting on?

Mummybear1984 · 28/06/2017 22:15

Well today was a struggle! Tomorrow is a fresh start. I'm out at a kids festival so taking a packed lunch and having beef casserole for dinner- home made by my nan- any idea of sp?
Really want to do this but had a major blow out tonight. I must get my head in the game for both food and exercise!

Tiger- I do that- think well I'm not going to weigh so I will eat and eat until I start!
I'm so fed up of failing. Sorry a completely woe is me post! Hope everyone else is doing well.

sez49 · 28/06/2017 22:43

Mummybear - don't feel fed up with failing. It is a learning curve and for me, it has has taken 25 years to learn how to cope with it and get on track, and to stay on track. I re-joined last year after so many attempts and failures. I am over 8st lighter now and still going. So many things have changed for me this time around, but I have finally accepted that this is a lifestyle change, so what I do needs to be something I can continue with into the future. I still need to have treats, be able to eat out and satisfy those sweet cravings now and then. Also the activity I do needs to suit my current lifestyle. i spent first few weeks focused,on the food and pointing etc. After that I then started adding in some walking. My activity tracker has been one of the best purchases I have made to help me on this journey.

Take it one day at a time, or even one meal at a time. If you fall down, pick yourself up and start a fresh. If you can try to be a bit better than the previous day, that is progress! Even when I stray bit from the plan, I work out the points and, if necessary, increase my activity to earn extra fitpoints to compensate for extras consumed (having demolished my weeklies on chocolate or biscuits on a couple of occasions). Having fitpoints there knowing I could dip into them if needed, really helped to keep me going in the first few months. I do now eat lots of my fitpoints, as well as all my weekly and daily points.

PippaRose · 28/06/2017 23:02

I haven't got reduced fat halloumi yet but think I will need to soon. I have 52 points due to exclusive breastfeeding but as we have started weaning that won't be for much longer so will need to look for lower point options.

It's hard to get your head in the right space at times. Am sure we will all get there though

Blondielongie · 28/06/2017 23:04

You can do it, don't let one day or one meal make you feel you have failed. If you start tomorrow, think how slim you will be in a month, and then the month after that!

I tell myself that this time next year (or even by Christmas) I will be so thankful that I started dieting when I did.

I hope that's encouraging, it was my motivation. Don't feel bad.

sez49 · 28/06/2017 23:07

Yes, I agree, it is hard to get your head in the right space at times. I started on 57 points as I was so overweight. Now I am on 35 points. They have dropped gradually, but I still miss some of those extra points I used to have!

Mummybear1984 · 29/06/2017 07:33

Thanks so much everyone. You're comments have all really helped me. I am really hard on myself but desperately want to succeed.
Today will be a good day. I'm making a wrap for lunch and am determined not to snack. Have stew for dinner but won't have a huge portion of mash etc.

I'm on 30sp and 42 weekly. Will try and make sure I plan for the days when I will be on track.

Thanks everyone. I doubt I will have a loss this week due to hen weekend and alcohol but I'm glad I started so I can get my head around it all before I start properly next week.

PippaRose · 30/06/2017 10:33

How did you get on yesterday Mummybear1984 ? Hope you had a good time at the festival.

I do the same as you Blondielongie and try to visualise the slimmer me going back to work in November, would be so hard to do this then which is why I'm determined to crack it now.

Hope you all have good weekends and manage to fight off the temptation! We don't have any plans so am hoping will be ok!

TheTigerWhoCame2Tea · 30/06/2017 17:05

Hey everyone! Hope you're all well? Mummy, I hope you had a great day today - at the festival and out with the kids.

I did the walk / race for life cancer research thing recently - and as you rounded a corner there was this huge sign saying: no matter how slow you're going, you're still doing laps around everyone still sitting on the couch (or words to that effect) and I think that's so important in the beginning days. Even just trying is beating the hell out of not trying. And it really is just one meal at a time - it's so overwhelming to think of the whole journey instead of just small steps along the way.

I do find the snacking the worst - I find myself snacking constantly even when I'm clearly not hungry. And then getting fed up with myself. So I'm trying to pack / carry more snackable things so I don't just pop into the shop for a chocolate on my lunch break.

Tomorrow is my joining day so whilst I'm dreading the scales I'm just going to think of it as - I'll never be that number again.

What does everyone else have planned for this week?

TheTigerWhoCame2Tea · 30/06/2017 17:06

Sez - omg eight stone lighter?! You're a complete inspiration!! Well done you - it must be such an amazing achievement. Did you do it all with ww?

OP posts:
sez49 · 30/06/2017 19:02

Thank you. Yes, all with WW - mostly pointing but a few no count days thrown in here and there. I am still going, as still got a bit more to lose, but I feel so much better, healthier and fitter than I have done for many years.

Blondielongie · 30/06/2017 20:15

I'm feeling exhausted today and just want to eat a load of cheese and have some wine.

Stupidly had an iced donut today from greggs that made up 1/4 of my points allowance for the whole day. I just don't fancy vegetables. No points left. Choices are
a) go to bed early
b) try and make a healthy snack and eat less tomorrow.

TheTigerWhoCame2Tea · 30/06/2017 20:26

Aaaah that is hard! I think sometimes it's easier to try to sleep through your hunger, but otherwise I'd go with the healthy snack. One healthy snack won't screw up your whole weight loss - although sadly probably not cheese and wine :(

OP posts:
sez49 · 30/06/2017 22:31

Have you got any weekly points to use towards the donut? If not, how about earning some fitpoints, if you haven't already got some, to cover it?

Mummybear1984 · 01/07/2017 09:03

Morning everyone,

How are you all getting on?

I've had a lovely couple of days but food has not been good! I'm away for a hen do today and tomorrow so will start again Monday... will probably have a gain Tuesday but still going to go and get on it for a good loss the following week!
🙈

Blondielongie · 01/07/2017 11:01

Hiya, well I won't say what I had last night. Don't want to bring the morale down! It wasn't too bad. Today I've just had one slice of toast. Got a ww curry tonight (11 points)

Not sure about lunch. Ham spinach and a boiled egg? Gonna make a pasta for the baby. Hope you are all enjoying the weather this weekend :)

PippaRose · 01/07/2017 20:14

All ok here, had fish and chips today but had enough points for them.

I have a hen do in 3 weeks and am just going to have the time off the diet I think. Won't go crazy but I don't go out much at the moment with a young baby plus as it's my close friends do I do want to enjoy it.

TheTigerWhoCame2Tea · 02/07/2017 14:37

Hope the hen do is going well Mummy! I didn't make it to the meeting yesterday so I'm going Monday night - there's a flash sale on so I must be there tomorrow as it ends then

I've been upping the steps though and hitting 10 000 a day (which is good for me) and generally doing an awful lot of gardening - the sun is out here! How's everyone else doing?

OP posts:
sleslieuk · 02/07/2017 15:01

Please could I join you all?
I've just joined online with some flash sale WW have got on and will join a class on Wednesday.
Want to lose at least 1.5 stone. Usually give up on diets after a couple of weeks but feel determined to be slimmer this Christmas.
What's happened to the WW forums on their website? Not sure I like this Connect option.
Good luck all
Sarah
