Losing a stone in 6 weeks.

Bobbybee · 25/10/2009 17:58

I know it can be done

I'm going to start on a new diet/fitness regime tomorrow and aim to lose a stone in the next 6 weeks.

The rules are

Drink 8 glasses of water a day
No carbs after lunch
No snacks after dinner
Half an hr of exercise/dvd 3 times a week (I'm doing Wed, Fri and Sun mornings)

Anyone like to join me so we can support and encourage each other?

hi bobbybee, I need to lose 1-1.5 stones in total and was hoping to lose a stone by Christmas so will join you, starting tomorrow. Need to try and limit my carbs too as bread/pasta are my downfall! Which DVD are you planning to do - i was looking at Davina McCall's earlier and have heard good things about them

Bobbybee · 25/10/2009 18:12

Great

I have a Davina one too and a Billy Banks Tae Bo one. I like both of them.

I have about 1.5 stones to lose too but I'll be so pleased with a 1 stone loss.

The weight will drop off if you limit your carbs.

Sounds good.

What will we have for tea if no carbs?

JackBauWooohooohoowaaer · 25/10/2009 18:16

I have rather more to lose than you two(5 stone at least), but I have a family holiday in 7 weeks for our pre christmas thing and I would love to have lost some weight by then. Pure sibling rivalry you understand

I have the BIlly Blanks one which is horrific, also a 10 minute session one which is easier for me to fit in around DD's.
I did try limiting carbs overall but I really felt like I need them to wake up in the morning, none for tea sounds good.

I am also going to limit booze, I drink way too much wine at the moment which won;t help.

Good luck

Bobbybee · 25/10/2009 18:21

I tend to have chicken or fish grilled or baked with various spices or pesto or creme fraiche and then lots of veg.

Chicken or fish salad.

Stir fry's without the rice or noodles.

Casseroles without any rice or potatoes.

Omelette is also good.

There are lots of choices

It really works too.

Bobbybee · 25/10/2009 18:22

Oh yes, no booze too
Although 1 evening off a week is allowed.

I think successful diets are helped by planning your meals and getting good sleep.

I have planned to have tomorrow
porridge, soup with philly light and cucumber roll and griddled salmon with mixed steam veg for dinner.

Good luck everyone

I have porridge as well, leek and potato soup and then either curry (with stir fry for me and rice and naan for others) or home made beefand stilton burgers with salad or buns and chips.
Might pop up to Aldi and see what is on offer veg wise too.
It is quite handy actually as my mum is visiting friday and she can't eat gluten so will be cooking carb free meals all weekend as it is easier.

IMoveTheStarsForNoOne · 25/10/2009 22:39

I've just done it - it can be done!! I'm on Atkins + Davina.

Good luck!!

wendyhappysmile · 26/10/2009 10:36

Ooh! What a good idea. I'd be happy with a lot less in six weeks but I'll go with you lot. This is my plan:
Water
very little cheese!!! (my downfall)
less alcohol!
porridge for breakfast (this really works, I'm sure!)
Exercise!

ministryofsleep · 26/10/2009 12:41

hi everyone, day 1 going well so far; soft boiled egg and 1 slice wholemeal toast for brekkie, 2 x slices vegetarian pizza with massive undressed salad for lunch, planning on baked salmon with asparagus and salad for tea after nicking Bobbybee's no carbs after lunch idea!! Have also drank 1 litre water so far. How's everyone else getting on?

IMoveTheStarsForNoone, which Davina have you got - am about to order one from Amazon

IMoveTheStarsForNoOne · 26/10/2009 13:23

ministry I have a box set this one

I don't like the kickboxing one, but the abdominal set is excellent, as is the core stability one (good for toning if you don't feel like getting all worn out and sweaty)

Really made a difference - I've lost 3" off my waist!

SemperEadem · 26/10/2009 13:44

Can I join in even though I'm a day late?

I would like to lose about 10lbs. I have recently given up smoking so I may struggle a little as my metabolism is probably all over the place at the mo!

I would deffo have to start tomorrow as I had a McDonalds for lunch . Though I did walk 3 miles home with loads of shopping and pushing a buggy uphill!

My plan is to do a full 45 mins dvd twice a week and walk for at least half an hour every other day (pushing a 2 stone toddler).

I also plan to stop drinking wine during the week , eat porridge for brekkie with sliced banana, eat bread at lunchtime and no or low carbs for dinner. Any snacking after dinner has to be ryvitas or fruit only.

Drink more water & green tea and also body brush before getting in the bath! Am sick of feeling frumpy and horrioble - the muffin top hanging over my jeans does nothing for my self esteem!

SemperEadem · 26/10/2009 15:24

Just took my measurements and I am 37, 29 and 36 inches .

I am 5 foot 3 and weight 9 stone 3.

I know that is not massive but it really shows on a littlie like me and I would love to get back down to 8 and a half stone for all the parties etc over Chrtistmas......

JackBauWooohooohoowaaer · 26/10/2009 19:39

No way on gods green earth am U sgaring my masurements
Not had near enough water todya, shall remedy that tomorrow.
Had porridge with dried apricots, went to park all moring to avoid munchies, then soup and mackeral sandwich for lunch and Korma with stir fry for tea.
Dh has gone out to get wine, so loads of support there
I am going for a bath to resist temptation...

QwertyQueen · 26/10/2009 19:47

I will start tomorrow!!!!
Have got brekkie planned - Special K with blueberries...
gonna struggle with no carbs tho.
Putting the biscuits away now....

Bobbybee · 26/10/2009 21:37

Lots of good starts

Imovethestars congratulations. I'm sure your story would be very motivational, if you care to share?

My day was good too. I managed to stick to the plan.

I had 9 glasses of water and am now winding down with a camomile, honey and vanilla tea (it smells gorgeous!)

Sempereadem body brushing is a fab idea. I'm going to join you on that

I'm going to do some sit ups while I watch a bit of telly before bed.

Its brilliant to have so many people on board. Lots of luck and I hope we all find the determination to see this through

Hello can I join? Evening eating is my downfall!

ThingOneofYourNightmares · 26/10/2009 22:00

Hi, I'm a bit late too. I've just lost ten pounds in 25 days so it certainly can be done. I need to keep it up too! Agree with no carbs late in the day.

JackBauWooohooohoowaaer · 26/10/2009 22:33

Hello everyone!

I caved and had a small handful of peanuts and an apple, bad Jack

My downfall is late evening snacking, so I have stocked up fruit bowl and am going to snack on that guilt free.
I did have some bics earlier but just after lunch, so my cut off for carbs is about 2-3pm, that is workable for me with DD's and snack times as we tend to have homebaked afternoon snacks.

I do not do well on 'no snacks, no biscuits, no nice things' as that is all I can think about then so I have a couple of nice biscuits in teh kitchen I am saving for my coffee tomorrow morning, that way I am ok for tonight as I have a treat coming tomorrow.

I am rubbish at behaving with food

littleducks · 27/10/2009 06:38

Can I join?

I was 12st 6lb and need to loose a stone to be in correct category for my height and prob 1.5 stone to look great. Am having tea and a bread roll, tesco delivery didnt come last night so the rest of the day could be anything?

JackBauWooohooohoowaaer · 27/10/2009 08:31

Morning all.
HAd my porridge for breakfast with apricots again, very nice, and some coffee with a small amount of frothed 1% bt no sugar.
Also had a slice of marmite on toast and a banana. Am a firm believer in eating loads for breakfast to set you up for the day, the girls have cereal, toast and banana too, that way if they only pick for the rest of the day it doesn't matter.

My problem is that I don't 'only pick' but had no wine last night and nothing after that apple, hoorah.

gingernutlover · 27/10/2009 08:43

hi all

i am hoping to lose about 10lbs before xmas just by eating sensibly so thought i would invite myself

i find it so hard not to snack, meals arent a problem really, they can be healthy and filling, it the eating out of boredom or fedupness that is my main enemy

IMoveTheStarsForNoOne · 27/10/2009 09:23

Bobbybee - what do you want to know?

Fruitgums · 27/10/2009 09:26

Hi Ladies,

I've just been reading through your thread and you've encouraged me to start exercising

So I am interested in getting the Davina DVD workout. Would I need to buy anything extra like weights etc?

TIA
