Losing a stone in 6 weeks.

Bobbybee · 25/10/2009 17:58

I know it can be done

I'm going to start on a new diet/fitness regime tomorrow and aim to lose a stone in the next 6 weeks.

The rules are

Drink 8 glasses of water a day
No carbs after lunch
No snacks after dinner
Half an hr of exercise/dvd 3 times a week (I'm doing Wed, Fri and Sun mornings)

Anyone like to join me so we can support and encourage each other?

You don't need weights for the Davina DVD - there is a weight training bit, but two bottles of water, or large cans would do just fine

A mat is helpful though, and make sure you have proper trainers or the interval training will hurt your knees.

Has anyone looked at the exercise channels on Sky? They are in the section with the home style and cooking stuff. Lots of yoga, then some high impact stuff (I did spot a cheerleader routine!?!) I haven't been able to try any yetas I'm poorly but thought it would add variety and be cheaper than buying DVD's.

Fruitgums · 27/10/2009 10:16

IMove, thanks for the info. I'm quite tempted to but it but the last DVD that I bought, I only used it twice! However Davina sounds good as you can just do the 30mins workout and forget about targeting the arms, bums etc.

Honie, I do not have Sky TV.

ministryofsleep · 27/10/2009 12:56

Hi everyone - just checking in. Day 2 going well so far and have ordered Davina so just waiting for it to get delivered. How's everyone else getting on?

Bobbybee · 27/10/2009 20:46

Imovethestars I think its amazing that you lost weight so quickly and just wanted to know a bit more about it - what did you eat? how much exercise did you do?
and how do you feel now?

I've seen the Sky channels and I'd forgotten that I'd recorded a couple of programmes. I think one was a Bhangra workout and I can't remember the other one . I'll have to have a look.

I did well today and had muesli (2 tablespoons), plain yoghurt, tinned peaches for brekkie, a low cal m&s wrap and a carrot soup for lunch and dinner was home made lamb burgers and veg.

Well done everyone. It sounds pretty good so far

Bobbybee - Thank you very much
I did strict Atkins Induction.
I was bloody knackered for the first couple of days, but once I'd been on it I felt SO much better.

Daily typical menu:
Breakfast - Cheese/ham omlette
Lunch - Huge Chicken/Tuna/Feta salad
Dinner - Any meat with salad or green veg.

Still on Atkins now, have another stone to lose before xmas...

I was low carbing for a while, and I was losing weight, but not as quickly as I wanted too (I had a wedding to attend and a size 16 dress to fit in to)

I did the Davina exercise DVD's at least 4 times a week too - got a bit obsessive about it tbh.

What I'm finding really helpful is scouring recipe books for marinades for meat - there's only so many times you can have chicken and salad.

If you want I can post some recipe's tomorrow?

Not sure how much longer I can do it for though tbh - I'm missing beans on toast, fajitas, rice etc.

One last thing - watch your sausages (if you're eating them) they have a LOT of carbs.

Waitrose have good low carb ones, or just go for chipolatas as a general rule.

IMoveTheStarsForNoOne · 27/10/2009 21:44

Wow.. I waffle when I've had some wine

SemperEadem · 28/10/2009 14:12

Just checking in.....

This is day 2 for me. Day 1 was a mixed success. I had the following:

2 slices of wholemeal toast (small) with a scraping of spread and a coffee (since giving up smoking I am strangely addicted to strong coffee

Lunch was 4 Rye Ryvitas and 2 Weightwatchers cheese triangles. Though I did follow this low fat lunch with a packet of Walkers French Fries again. Tho they are quite low in fat

I succumbed to a cappucino in the park (small). Walked around for a good hour.

Dinner was a 2 egg omelette with mushrooms, sweetcorn and 2 slices of Quorn Ham style slices. Served with salad (no dressing) and followed by a M&S packet of fruit.

1.5 litres of water.

Now here is where it all went wrong..... DH had had a truly horrible day at a funeral of a young colleague who had died recently. We were discussing it when he came in and I have to admit I had a beer and a packet of Cheese & Onion McCoys, followed by a handful of Haribos .

Today I have had:

No breakfast as running late for DS Football Class. An hour long walk pushing 2 stone tofddler uphill for half of it.

Lunch - Weightwatchers cheese triangle spread on two slices of Granary bread, served with side salad and again those oh so healthy french fries crisps!!

1 litre of water so far.

Still not drinking enough. I forget until I log on.
Had porridge and slice of toast for break, and some home made banana/raisin and seed bread for lunch.
Morrocan Lamb and veg for tea, dd's haveing wedges with theirs.
well, that's the idea, but they have a docs appt at half 5, so will have to have tea early and snack for them after, which means I will finish my tea at 5, not good. Am going to have to eats something tonight!

NO wine last ngiht though, which is good, and just had an apple as a 'snack'

NO exercise here though, DD's dont nap and DH is working full days 7-4 or 5ish so no-one to watch them, then it is too dark to go running round my house (it's not safe) and can't use cross trainer as it wakes DD@s up.
Must put on dvd later and do somethign

Bobbybee · 31/10/2009 13:13

Sorry, I've had internet probs so I've not been able to log in.

I've started doing my Davina dvd. I did Pump but I didn't have any weights. I did it without any weights and OMG! I could feel my worked out leg muscles for 2 days!
I'm definitely sticking to that for a while.

The diet is going well so far

Well done Jack, Semper and Imovethestars (yes please to the recipe!) for doing well so far.
Jack I spent the first few days on this diet with a notepad and pen at hand to write down everything I ate and I tallyed up glasses of water as I drank them. It really helps.

Good luck. Please keep going everyone. It'll be really worth it and I could do with the support too
