1st March - Time for a new thread

We can now forget/capitalise on the first two difficult months. The lighter mornings are upon us, soon the sun will be shining more and more and it will become warmer. Time to start thinking about the spring wardrobe...

Come on ladies, lets go for it, Summer will be here before we know it, and we want to enjoy it don't we?

I have copied the stats from the last weigh in, I have put the Jan start weight first, and the last weight that was posted, so update as necessary I have taken off a couple of people I haven't seen in a while, apologies if you are still checking, please say hello and add yourself to the stats again, as well as anyone else who would like to join.

meonlybetter hello and welcome. Of course you can join us. We're all on a mission to shift some of this excess weight by summer( and beyond!). We are each doing it our own way but have all been pretty successful so far. Please feel free to add your stats to the list.

MrsMattie · 21/03/2009 20:11

I know I've been really crap at keeping up with you all. Hope you're all going well.

I'm keeping up the good eating, although been a bit slack with the exercise lately

Lost 5 lbs in the last few weeks though, so all good .

Have lost 1 st 9 lbs in total since Jan (yipee!) and got 11 lbs to lose to reach my goal weight.

MrsMattie that is a fabulous result. Well done you.

tessieb · 22/03/2009 07:52

Hi everyone. Not checked in with you all for a while, but glad to see that the spring sunshine is helping keep you all motivated. I'm managing to exercise 3 or 4 times a week using my Wii Fitness Coach. I really like it, though it is getting harder now! I feel I get a very good work-out from it.

I'm just going to update my results as I've lost 1 lb this week and just under 1 lb last week, so it's slowly but surely coming off. Looking at your results you're all doing so well!

PollyG, I'm jealous, you've got to the 10st something before me!

Well done everyone and keep going.

Hello ladies, had a heavy alcohol weekend so need to get back to the grindstone, its definitely the weekends that are spoiling my weight loss

OP posts:
countesscaloriecounter · 22/03/2009 19:22

Me too Lisa it's like I feel I have to treat myself

Hello tessieb good to hear from you and good news on the weight loss.

countesscaloriecounter · 22/03/2009 19:24

It's not alcohol as much as I have a roast dinner and I had a bacon and egg sarnie this morning

Just done 40 mins on the bike to try and appease my conscience.

MaryAnnSailors · 22/03/2009 21:20

Namechange alert... too many Pollies on here now! So changing to this moniker for a while.

Now don't you worry about that 10st thang Tessieb... i stepped on the scales this morning and it took ages beween 10.13 and 11st and settled on 11st. Drat! I've got weigh in tomorrow, and i'm not expecting much at all!

As you may have noted, i've been absconding... so much so, that this thread went off my recent threads button for the first time!

I'm annoyed but not surprised at the gain. My walking has all but been called to a halt except for the excursions with the leggily endowed Mixedmama. I've stepped up my physio prescribed exercises - but given that the muscle groups they're working on are miniscule it doesn't really add up to much.

So this week my aim is to EAT when i am hungry, until i am full, and to enjoy every bite.

Howdy Meonly

Great loss MrsMattie!

Good work on the bike Countess You're practically there - you've done absolutely brilliantly!

Ah the dreaded lure of vino! Lisa Yes, me too... for medicinal purposes i'd been trying to fool myself... i'm going to lay off it for a while now. Wow - you've got resolve - how's the 1000 limit going? Do you have enough energy through the day?

Very nice work with 3lbs Lexcat

JKS lady, you're unstoppable! Orchestra?? Are you a musician? I'm just nosey

Wintersun bet you look v glam with your new haircut. New hair = 5lb loss in my books.

It's great to see you back Banana! I think i'm a contender for that slow stone too

And a big hello to everyone else too... i'm being called away by teething ds...

Good luck through the week all!

Jack2601 · 22/03/2009 21:23

Hi all, hope we are all well and have had a lovely Mother's Day.

I have had a wonderful day - got some gorgeous pressies from my DS who, I have on good authority from DH, chose them all by himself (at nearly 8 weeks old he is a child genius).

Been a bit naughty today though because DH made me a fabulous Mother's Day breakfast sandwich - bacon, sausage and mushroom............ can I say it is healthy if I really focus on the mushrooms (they are a veg after all!!)

Back into it tomorrow. I hit the gym again on Saturday and actually ran on the treadmill for 15 minutes (my legs don't feel like my own today though!!)

Welcome meonlybetter. I've only been on this thread for 2 weeks and I think it's great!! Everyone seems so motivated.

MaryAnnSailors · 23/03/2009 15:47

Oh yes, Chipmonkey one of my favourite lines was when MP says 'i don't care if he does drop his aitches'! it's lovely stuff!

Sounds like a great day Jack!

Countess - well done, nearly at that 10-something milestone

Lexcat - congrats on 3lbs loss

Meonlybetter - welcome

MrsMattie - 5lbs! well done you! and nearly single figures left to lose!

TessieB - 3 or 4 sessions a week sounds very good. i actually did some Wii Fit tonight, instead of just weighing myself and flopping on the sofa
You're not far off the 10-something too!

LLL - the weekends are my weak point definitely! well it's DHs influence+wine+roasts!

MaryAnn - reason behind the new name? Mary Ann likes Sailors?
I play the clarinet in a small orchestra, we meet every tuesday in term time and have concerts about twice a year. we also have socials - that i'm now in charge of, eek. organising a china painting evening in a few weeks, need to get that sorted.
Bad luck on the 11 instead of 10

Jack - i had a bacon sarnie for Mother's Day too + chocolate + wine+ Baileys+roast oops!

So tonight.....9,0 yeyeyeyeyeyey!
nearly 8-something, so near.....

luckymoray · 24/03/2009 13:03

Afternoon ladies, may I join you?

I had my second child at Christmas and am now struggling to lose the weight. Finally braved the scales about 6 weeks ago and I was 12 stone 6 - which is a lot as i'm only 5'3. Have so far managed to lose half a stone but I am already struggling...obviously wine and chocolate are the main downfalls but I am breastfeeding so I get STARVING if I don't eat properly.

Goal - 10 stone by August.

Short term goal - to be lighter than my boyfriend who is 11 stone!!

countesscaloriecounter · 24/03/2009 13:31

luckymoray hello and welcome.

We are a bunch of very motivated ladies who have spurred each other on to lose weight and its all going pretty successfully at the moment.

Everybody is using their own way of dieting. Personally I am using the boots diets website to log my food and give me some motivation and I've been exercising loads. Before starting this in January my exercise, other than running around after my ds, was basically nil!

Everyone on here helps the other, either with a pat on the back and congrats if we're doing well, or words of wisdom and encouragement if things aren't going as well as planned.

I hope you find it useful and it helps you lose loads of weight and be thinner than your boyfriend before you know it. {smile]

luckymoray · 24/03/2009 14:00

thank you!

i have no diet plan as such apart from 'don't be such a pig' but i know i need slightly more of a strategy! I have been exercising loads but i know it's not enough as my portions are huge and I convince myself the exercise will take care of it all....which it won't.

Yes, I have been heavier than my boyfriend for a few years now and it's mightily depressing! onwards and slimwards x

MaryAnnSailors · 24/03/2009 14:21

Hello luckymoray

Same here on the other half department. Annoying isn't it?!

I'm sure you'll do fine and by August be where you want to be.

Wintersun · 24/03/2009 21:16

Just checking in. Have teething toddler and am very tired.
Will write up properly once I've got some rest

Keep at it girls! You're all doing very well!

JustKeepSwimming · 25/03/2009 06:32

Welcome LuckyMoray
Add yourself to the list.
I know when i'm bf i get absolutely RAVENOUS so can sympathise
i didn't even start losing weight until i started dropping feeds. and only properly once i'd stopped altogether.
don't know about you but stopping really helped, as if my body realised it could 'let go' of all that extra padding, lol.

Will hopefully weigh in later, not expecting to get an 8,13 yet but there's always hope!
Though missed my walk yesterday and ate some shortbread ds1 'helped' me bake.

Keep going everyone, esp those near a milestone!

bananapaddlepop · 25/03/2009 07:21

Just checking in and noticed my last weight had dropped off. It's weigh in today and I've been totally undisciplined with my eating so expect a gain, but did Davina last night and already walked the dog this morning!

Good luck everyone.

MaryAnnSailors · 25/03/2009 10:16

Do you reckon rice pudding features on any diet...?

I have the ingredients... resist the stodge - there's no room for stodge in a bikini.

Yep i do like sailors JKS , they all look so clean cut in their uniforms, my dad was a ship's capt so met lots when i was a girl... but not the reason for the name change... just going through the cast list from a radio play! Ooh clarinet and cello are my faves... but i got turned off instruments with my recorder and violin playing - so can only appreciate from afar! Almost 8s - how fantastic! I've a feeling when i stop nursing, it will only be to accommodate another baby soon after - there is an awful lot of padding!

Hope the teething is easing up for your little one Wintersun - my one is there too.

Countess that's a lovely welcome post... we scrub up ok by you!

Oh no you were dropped off the list Banana - i don't look at the stats for other people . Good stuff with Davina and taking the dog out!

The pfb is streaming with bodily fluids thanks to his teeth coming through all at once. So may not get out today - in which case i'll put lots of vim into the housework today and do the kim and aggie workout.

JustKeepSwimming · 26/03/2009 07:46

I wish re the rice pudding MaryAS

Still 9,0 here though my bmi dropped to new low of 21.47 so must have been nearly 8,13.

then had wine & chinese with DH last night, oops!

onwards and downwards....

Wintersun · 26/03/2009 09:00

I'm sure if you make it with skimmed pudding the rice pudding could be part of your diet for a day? Not as nice, but still nice.

Ds2 is really miserable with his teething.I've been getting stressed out as I can't get anything done and his allergies seem to be getting worse too
I'm finding it hard to think of lunches for him that are quick and easy.

I'm still maintaining which I am happy with at the moment as I don't seem to have much energy.

Hope you're all doing well.

Wintersun · 26/03/2009 09:01

Sorry meant skimmed milk of course! Still half asleep, me!

countesscaloriecounter · 26/03/2009 13:23

You have my sympathy on the teething Wintersun. My ds has had me up at 5.30 each morning for the past week.

LisaLessLumpy · 26/03/2009 17:35

Hi ladies.

My DS has been interupting my sleep patterns too. He was awake at 4.40am this morning, and seeing as I went out last night and didn't get to bed till midnight, then I woke at 1.05am, 3.15am, got him back to sleep by 5.45am, but then DS1 woke up at 6am.... suffice to say, I'm knackered Seems to be normal for me at the moment, I can't remember the last time I slept for longer than 4 hours in one stretch.

I had a good chat to my mum about my weight loss situation as she is a gym instructor but also ran slimming clubs for 30 years. Basically she reckons it isn't moving very quickly because my weekends are ruining my week, also I am not being consistent enough, some days I am having less than 1000 cals whilst others (ie, weekends) I am having over 2000 cals, she says my body doesn't know whether it is coming or going.

She also suggested I stop writing it all down for a bit as I have been doing it for over a year, and just let my body fall into a natural pattern. I still haven't weighed in yet but I do feel a little bit slimmer and a quick measurement shows I have lost an inch off my natural waist and an inch off each thigh and 3/4 off my knees, so the cross trainer is definitely working

I am away for a girly weekend as of tomorrow but there will be plenty of walking on Sat and Sun, so hopefully that will help combat an extra calories. Then I have 10 days before I weigh in. Fingers crossed for a loss
