January 2026! Following on from LOSE IT! 8 Week Christmas Countdown

Fresh Start, New Habits! To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.
These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.
As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.

  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.

  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.

  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.

  5. Stay hydrated! 💧

  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.

  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩

  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.

  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!

  10. Be kind to yourself. One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 2lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

I swapped my menu around a bit today and ended up having the Frittata for meal 2. Lunch was bitty bits of roast beef, 2 boiled eggs and 20g of cheddar with mixed nuts to follow.

Thanks for having me back @TheRealHousewife!

Looking forward to lots of lovely inspiration! Frittata is already being added to my list. Especially with having a few AF weeks I'm manifesting images of me doing lots of meal prep on a Sunday and Monday to see us through the week. Frittata is a great one to do for an easy but filling meal post my Monday morning double classes 😁

Fellsbells · 06/01/2026 18:22

The kitchen is closed.

B- a few stolen mini weetabix from DC.
L- sourdough, chicken, tomato.
greek yoghurt, flax, chia, blueberries granola.
D- quinoa, salmon and green beans
S- nuts. Cracker and wensledale

I’ve skipped today’s run. I didn’t have the time or energy to fit it in! I’ve gone slightly over on calories so I might do a little work out so I break even.

Small wins today, my jeans felt looser than normal and I didn’t eat any lindor.

TheRealHousewife · 06/01/2026 18:31

You’re very welcome @ImALittlePea , it’s great that you’ve remembered the threads and chosen to come back 🥰

@Fellsbells Ive just cleaned and closed mine now sat with a nice cuppa 🍵 x

I recognise your username @ImALittlePea welcome back!

Did my first bodycombat class in a long time this evening. Only a half hour class and that was enough, but hopefully I will build back up to one hour classes soon. I can’t believe how I’ve let my fitness drop so much. But on the case!

All set for WOW tomorrow to set my first goal of the year!

moondip · 06/01/2026 18:54

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments - feeling very supported 🥹

I’ve worked out that my biggest challenge is going to be resisting snacks in the evening and, even harder, overnight while I’m waking up when baby does and popping to the kitchen to get a bottle. That’s when the compulsion to grab something takes over. I don’t think that’s going anywhere soon, but I will try to be more mindful of keeping healthier snacks around rather than just reaching for what’s there!

JuniorMint14 · 06/01/2026 19:19

@moondip breastfeeding is so much harder than anyone tells you! Sounds like you're doing brilliantly. The hunger overnight when feeding is real - I have a deliciously ella oat bar almost every night around 3am 🫣 sometimes its the only thing that stops me falling asleep while feeding so it'll be staying for the time being! Oats are supposed to be good for milk supply and those ones are all natural ingredients so I don't feel so guilty about it.

I have decided not to weigh in for WOW tomorrow because I don't want to be disheartened before I've really got going. Just focussing on making better food choices where I can and going to my first postnatal mum and baby pilates class tomorrow - hopefully he'll let me get some movement in!

Ehlace · 06/01/2026 20:33

Today's menu, coming in under target, was:
Lunch:
Demi baguette with humus
Carrot salad (tik tok inspired: 2 carrots grated into ribbons, half tablespoon honey, TSP soy sauce, tap rice wine vinegar, half tbs sesame oil and a TSP sesame seeds)

Dinner:
Spinach and cheddar omelette
Coconut greek yoghurt with dried apricots and nuts

I also did a second 7 minute session of beginner pilates on my lunch break, I know it's not going to make me a body builder but it's a very gentle introduction to excersize. I like that it counts along with you and has videos of the actions so bought a year's subscription to the app which will hopefully also motivate me to use it to justify the payment! It's called Pilates Workout if anyone is interested, has pretty good reviews.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 06/01/2026 20:46

I dm'd you re the cafe, @Marshmellowbunny .

Today was OK - forgot to weigh in the morning, which was annoying. Healthy ready meal around 10am, then a peanut butter sandwich (not ideal) and biscuits ("") around 1pm, then done. Should have had a second proper meal really.

LBB2020 · 06/01/2026 22:37

Yesterday didn’t go to plan for me so I started properly today! Food has been ok, perhaps a little carb heavy in hindsight but no snacks after the children were in bed and I did a 20 minute workout video.
I was meant to weigh myself yesterday but decided I will do it at the weekend (I’m basically putting it off and giving myself this week to get back into some form of routine!)

Workingmammabear · 06/01/2026 23:26

Hi all..joining slightly late but today is the first day I've managed to get myself in gear after a crazy Christmas period! I'm about 5ft 4/5in weighing 11st 11.2lb. I had a baby 5 months ago - my second - and feeling quite unhealthy at the mo. my pregnancy craving was the entire back catalogue from Mr Kipling, baby was probably 90% cake!
Saw my PT today and was quite pleased to have maintained over Xmas and New year. He advised me to take body measurements so I've done that for the first time today and I'll track those on weigh-days as well as my actual weight.

loving this thread and all your tips!

Good Morning. Not a bad first week. Other than last night when a late gift of cherry liqueur chocolates, which aren't sold here, were inhaled....I have stuck to 1400 calories. Need to up the exercise, but so very stormy here the last few days. I did a hiit workout 2 days ago, so obviously I am doing that DOMs waddle going up and down stairs. This week I want to be more focused on food, the past week there were still lots of leftovers, so will aim for less carbs and regular exercise. We are going on holiday on Sunday to Spain, haven't been since I was a child, so looking forward to it. No bikini weather thankfully in January!

Morning! WoW is 71.0kg, down 0.8kg (1.5 lbs?) since last Weds. Happy with that. I definitely have a pattern of Mon-Tues OMAD or OMAD + very short eating window, then the rest of the week not hugely restrained but kitchen closed by about 6pm.

1kg to goal, though all the medical stuff will likely mess with it, let’s see.

Good luck wowers!

moondip · 07/01/2026 06:47

Good morning, everyone ☀️
I am feeling really happy to see that I’m -1.3kg on the scales from last Wednesday, especially because it hasn’t felt too hard because my main focus has been drastically upping my protein and water intake and increasing movement (quite lightly). Of course it’s usually easier to shift weight at the start when your SW is higher, but I’m still pleased!

SW (31/12/25): 102.1kg
CW (07/01/26): 100.8kg

LemonDrizzle23 · 07/01/2026 07:19

Morning everyone! My WOW definitely reflects me not getting my eating together until the last two days 😬 Weight has bounced up and then down this week, to overall stay the same.

SW: 15 st 8
CW: 13 st 12.4

Hopefully some movement downwards for next week now I’m back into the swing of things!

Runssometimes · 07/01/2026 07:27

WoW
starting weight 92.5kg
now 92.3kg

I have binned off Fast800 and been sticking to 1500 calories a day. I’ve done exercise 6/7 days - cycling, two Pilates sessions and an HIIT workout and increased my protein to support the increased exercise. I have also walked over 10k steps on average the past 7 days so even though it’s not huge weight difference the health goals are there. I figured that I’d find 800 calories too restrictive especially with increased exercise and decided this is likely more sustainable.
i looked over my old health stats and realised I have not been in the overweight, let alone healthy weight category for ten years and despite a few previous short lived blips it’s been steadily increasing so that’s given me a shock on what that does to long term health.

I hope everyone else gets some good results today in weightloss or other improvements

biscuitcat · 07/01/2026 07:30

Morning WOWers! Well done everyone for checking in and keeping accountable 🌟

Unsurprisingly, given how I’ve eaten this week, I’m up 0.5lbs -

SW - 15st10.5
CW - 12st13

I’m cautiously optimistic about being ‘back on the wagon’ now that term has started and there aren’t lots of bits of cheese or chocolate to snack on so hopefully I’ll see a loss for next week…

mermadeincornwall · 07/01/2026 07:34

11stone 9 pounds
My first WOW of 2026

ImALittlePea · 07/01/2026 07:40

Just a little good luck 🤞 to everyone WoWing today. I'm not going to weigh until next week as my first weigh in was only yesterday 😂

Just making my plan for the day....

LegoTherapy · 07/01/2026 07:43

Morning all and welcome to the new posters.
I forgot to weigh this morning but have eaten a fair amount of salty rice crackers in the last two days so I expect I’d have gained some. It will go again. I hover around 8st 4/5lb and am happy with that. The GP comment yesterday how small my arms are compared to most of her patients. My arms are quite chunky with decent muscle left over from my climbing days along with a fair amount of flab. Sadly a bit wrinkly now where arm meets pit. That seems to be age and weight
loss related and I no longer feel confident in vest tops. I must see if I can time them up.
We are still going strong on the soup but I ate some Christmas chocolates yesterday. I’m giving it up again now I think. It’s not nice enough to bother eating.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 07/01/2026 07:44

Morning all. First weigh in of the year has me at 11st 1lb / 70.3 kg. That’s around 3lb up since mid December so I’m hoping there’s dome residual festive water weight in there, but we’ll see. Ideally I’d like to lose around 1/2 stone / 3kg by the end of March when I’ll be transitioning to a spring wardrobe.

Calorie counting using nutracheck, focusing on fibre and protein, improving fitness and strength, and being mindful of weekend sabotaging is what I will be focusing on!

Good luck everyone!

cakeaddict · 07/01/2026 07:52

Morning,

I'm finding this thread really useful but have been lurking as not had much time to post.

SW (2/1/26) 82.5kg
CW (7/1/26) 81.5kg

I have been focussed on 3 healthy meals a day, mindful of portion control, no snacks/junk/booze and an increase in exercise. Slow and steady is my aim - so pleased with week 1 (especially as my muscles are hurting from a BodyPump class yesterday so I suspect a bit of water retention going on this morning!) but the challenge is to stick to good habits when demands of work etc increase as we get back to the normal routine.

PoachedCloud · 07/01/2026 07:53

I have completely failed to comply with my calorie and exercise goals the last 3 days. I will continue lurking, seeking motivation and inspiration from Everyone else posting here.

BraceFace92 · 07/01/2026 08:01

Morning all!

Happy to see the weight slowly coming off. I’m trying to do this sustainably whereas in the past I’ve tried to lose weight quickly and then put it all plus more back on.

Focusing on nutritious food and cutting down on snacking. Still haven’t managed exercise, I always plan to do it in the evening and then end up falling asleep putting kids to bed!! Going to see if I can exercise in earlier evening or lunchtime instead.

SW: 92kg
CW: 91kg
