Anyone want to join me with following the 10 principles.

I have two stone to loose but I've tried and failed all calorie controlled diets, ww, slimming world. I want to understand how food is processed when I eat it and how that affects my body in terms of health and obviously weight loss.

I am wearing a CGM and trying not to spike my sugars, so I need less insulin which should help reduce fat storage.

In the first week, the scales have gone down by 4kg, I guess this will slow down. But going in the right direction.

As I understand it, @spoonbillstretford you will end up eating less overall because you won't get the hunger that follows crazy blood sugar ups and downs. Lentils are fine -the protein and fibre would slow down the absorption of the cards. I don't think you have to separate everything.

In lots of ways it's a quite traditional way of eating - salad starter with oil and vinegar, balanced main, sweet dessert. Makes you think that at some point we instinctively knew this stuff.

It's interesting watching my autistic son eat as he naturally eats a food type at a time. He will often eat the carbs last.
Hearty appetite. Built like a twig.

I use a couple of her hacks because I’m an emotional eater. The eating vegetables first, either as a starter or just eating them first in a main meal really helps dampen my sugar cravings when I’m stressed.

What a joyless existence separating your food out into fibre, protein and carbs and eating it in order.

How would that work with lentils as they have all three?

Eating a balanced diet is important for nutrtion but losing weight is about eating less consistently for a period of time long enough to get to goal weight, then being able to maintain by eating slightly more, but not enough to overeat and put the weight back on. It is absolutely about calories, whether you decide to count them or not, it is all about the amount you eat. You are losing weight because you are eating less food.

Edited

No food is off limits with this and lentils are recommended in some recipes. The idea is you end up eating more veg as you have vegetable starters or eat your veg first or both. Naturally even that one step reduces calories as they are usually less calorie dense, however the impact on appetite and cravings is the main thing which reduces your weight I think...but her focus is on health impact rather than weight. if you like TV she has two episodes on channel 4 where people with chronic health conditions follow the plan for ,6 weeks...its great to see the results.

So far I'm finding it really beneficial. My energy levels are better and I'm feeling fuller. Food very weirdly tastes better even just a few days in. I'm sure this must be because I am pre diabetic and this is improving my blood sugar stability.

Hi all,

I’ve been really absent on here but still
following the hacks - have had lots of backwards steps since starting in February. I’ve lost 14kg which I’m really happy with, would love to lose another 10kg, I’ve got a wedding at the end of July and a Holiday at the end of September so really want to have lost a bit more for the wedding and hopefully reach my goal by the holiday. I’m currently doing great in the week, weekend not so much! So I think if I can stick to it at the weekends my progress will be much faster.

Hope everyone else is doing okay?

Iwannabehealhty · 25/05/2025 16:05

@manicm0ndaythat's so good to hear. I've not been as strict (ie not followed the principles at all for a few days 🙄) so the weight loss has slowed down / stopped.

What I have found is how lethargic and bleugh I feel when I don't follow, my energy and overall feeling of wellness is so much better when i take better care of myself. Started with more enthusiasm this week. Hoping for the final 2-5kg loss.

How is everyone doing? I have lost only 1 pound this month, I don't mind as I've lost 3 inches around my waist. I assume if I am consistent the weight loss will restart but I'm happy my hips are slimming down. Still love this way. I have eaten more cake this month 😆

I hope your all also getting on well long term with this approach.

I've weight today - 19kg loss this year. I really thought I'd slipped back into some older habits and re gained a little weight but consistency is key. If I can do this anyone can, I now have a healthy BMI. I am so happy.

Wow op that's incredible, was that just with blood sugar management? I lost 3kg very quickly when starting to fix my insulin resistance. That was this time last year, nothing since then. I know my blood sugar management is good as I did a monitor for two weeks in September/October and didn't have a single spike or dip below normal levels

Iwannabehealhty · 08/11/2025 12:52

@Auttheryes managing blood sugars and eating a lot more fibre / protein. I have reduced snacks / quick foods ie bread, crumpets, bagels.

Well done, OP, that’s amazing! I shall re-read my copy of The Glucose Goddess and try again. I gave up my first attempt because the cider vinegar before meals hugely aggravated my acid reflux problem. Do you think I could get results without the vinegar?

Iwannabehealhty · 08/11/2025 18:16

@ASuitableName I havent taken acv for a while, I ran out and then forgot. Its more an improved lifestyle following the rules

Great work OP - sounds like this will be quite sustainable over time too!

That’s good, I shall give it another try but without the acv then!
