Anyone want to join me with following the 10 principles.

I have two stone to loose but I've tried and failed all calorie controlled diets, ww, slimming world. I want to understand how food is processed when I eat it and how that affects my body in terms of health and obviously weight loss.

I am wearing a CGM and trying not to spike my sugars, so I need less insulin which should help reduce fat storage.

In the first week, the scales have gone down by 4kg, I guess this will slow down. But going in the right direction.

@manmanicm0nday sorry you're not feeling well. I think we can't be good all the time. If cocopops is what you need...

@thethenewaveragebear1983 when were ovulating don't we store more water? I wonder if you will feel better and see some loss next week?

You said you hadn't been following it completely, could you make some adjustments?

I've been so healthy all day, just enjoyed some (lots) of my valentines chocolates. Oh my goodness, headaches, palpitations, lethargy! I've been doing this just under two weeks.

Thank you for starting this thread. It's inspired me to actually read the two GG books that I have and hopefully make a start! Which CGM would you recommend?

Iwannabehealhty · 15/02/2025 18:15

@LuffyWitten I've have a 2 week free trial of libre2 although I've felt a bit poorly today so my eating hasn't been fantastic 😂. Nor have my numbers.

I will look into the libre 2, I think the starter set was around £120 last time I looked. Hope you feel better soon!

@thenewaveragebear1983 how are you feeling? I hope your having a better day today

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/02/2025 20:27

@Iwannabehealhty yes I am thank you. I actually had a really good day on my plan yesterday and today I've been to the gym. I did a walk after dinner as per GG rules. How are you doing?

Iwannabehealhty · 19/02/2025 21:34

How is everyone doing? I had a blip and stopped loosing weight but persevered and started to lose again. And then today, a whole day of one long, low blood glucose reading. I'm not sure why.

So I've come home and snacked and eaten how I use to and what a roller coaster of readings and feeling not so good. I can understand why I struggled to loose weight with bad habits now, it makes so much sense.

Back to following the plan and eating more for breakfast tomorrow to prevent low readings again

@Iwannabehealhty did you manage to get your readings stable again? I haven't bought a monitor yet but have been eating a savoury breakfast (most days) and veggies first. I definitely do better if I have protein breakfast instead of cereal or granola,

Iwannabehealhty · 27/02/2025 13:00

@LuffyWitten I'm doing really well thanks. I did stabilise my blood glucose, I think it was hormone related.

The weight has slowed down, and I'm losing 1-2 lbs per week. I've had the odd bad day, too, but this is a lifestyle rather than a diet for me. I'm eating much healthier

I don't think the CBG is needed, but it has helped me learn what foods affect me, which has been good. I feel better, too.

Hi, bit if an update;
sw 94.3kg, cw 85.7kg.
Gw 77kg (to have a healthy BMI)
It encourages me to keep going!

Iwannabehealhty · 30/03/2025 09:45

How is everyone doing? I haven't been very good at daily updates but my current weight is 83.2kg, so 11kg loss so far. Still going to get a healthy bmi.

I'm loving the guidance, eating a normal diet and not calorie counting. No injections. I am currently now losing 1-2 lbs per week which I feel is a healthy weight loss for me. I have eaten out a couple of times and had birthday cake!

LuffyWitten · 30/03/2025 17:40

Well done OP, 11kg is an amazing loss in such a short time! Are you doing all of the hacks? The vinegar one bothers me 😀

Iwannabehealhty · 30/03/2025 19:31

@LuffyWittenthe exercise one bothers me 🤣.

I'm not having a starter, but I am eating vegetables or salad first on my plate. I am having acd, I like it but it's very weak.

OP posts:
Iwannabehealhty · 29/04/2025 20:07

Another update as I want a record of how it's going to look back on. Now 79.6kg, to celebrate I've eaten an u healthy takeaway and so much chocolate and snacks.

First big food failure, but onwards and upwards and back to.it tomorrow. Still loving this way of life, feeling rubbish for poor diet choices today mind 🙃

@Iwannabehealhtythat’s brilliant well done! A one day blow out is to be expected! Thanks for posting your updates.

I’m following as I want to get back to doing GG. I need to beat my sugar addiction, main causes are chocolate and biscuits. And chocolate biscuits!
I’m reading my GG book again to remind myself of the science which I find spurs me on.

Iwannabehealhty · 01/05/2025 13:44

@LuffyWitten@thenewaveragebear1983how are you both doing?

@Queenestthe book is so interesting isn't it? It just all seems to make sense to me. I'm also loving the weight loss although it has now slowed down (thanks to easter)

Wow well done everyone for your achievements.
I have a very big tummy so really hoping this way of eating may help me get back to a less pregnancy shape!

I have an audio book and a written book coming.
Planning to start some of the basics tomorrow
Savoury breakfast
Acv
Eating in the right order
Moving after food

Thought if I start with 4 it might help me feel it's sustainable

What's everyones fave breakfasts?

Iwannabehealhty · 03/05/2025 10:07

@CharityShopMensGlassesmy favourite is yoghurt or omlettes for breakfast

So my book still hasn't arrived 😬 I was tight and bought it second hand because I'd got too many new books this month. But I've loved watching the series online and searching bits up on her insta. I've made overnight oats with greek yoghurt, chia and mixed seeds and berries for 3 breakfasts this week and planning omelette or egg and avocado on toast the other days. I've made egg cups with veg and cheese for snacks and cooked up some fry steaks to make some steak salads for lunches. The ACV isn't offensive and I did feel a lot more energetic yesterday than usual. Hoping this is the start of something good 😊.
I have 5st to loose so a fair amount to try to get rid of. I've set myself a target of half a stone a month to try to keep this realistic. Have a few little goals like a couple of holidays and a family party that I'd love to be lighter for.
I'm combining with the walk fit app as I wanted to have an easy/different daily exercise to try to get fitter too.

Hope your weekend has been a good one Iwannabehealthy :) my weigh day will be Saturday so you weigh once a week too?

I was interested to see some posts slagging off the method on insta, as far as I can see as a healthcare professional all of the hacks make sense and none would do any harm, guess it's people looking to get views on the back of her popularity.

What a joyless existence separating your food out into fibre, protein and carbs and eating it in order.

How would that work with lentils as they have all three?

Eating a balanced diet is important for nutrtion but losing weight is about eating less consistently for a period of time long enough to get to goal weight, then being able to maintain by eating slightly more, but not enough to overeat and put the weight back on. It is absolutely about calories, whether you decide to count them or not, it is all about the amount you eat. You are losing weight because you are eating less food.

As I understand it, @spoonbillstretford you will end up eating less overall because you won't get the hunger that follows crazy blood sugar ups and downs. Lentils are fine -the protein and fibre would slow down the absorption of the cards. I don't think you have to separate everything.

In lots of ways it's a quite traditional way of eating - salad starter with oil and vinegar, balanced main, sweet dessert. Makes you think that at some point we instinctively knew this stuff.

I see, that sounds more sensible than the list of rules made it sound at first. It does sound like a nice civilised way of eating.

@spoonbillstretford It's really worth reading the book, it would make a lot more sense.
