Hi all, I have been on a couple of these weight loss threads over the last year (and a bit) and have lost over 50lbs. I started at 15st 9lb and weighed in this morning at 11st 13lbs. I realise this sounds great, but the reality is that for the last two months, I've been of the rails and just can't get myself back on track! I've gained 5lbs (lucky it's not more!) and I am starting to fall into bad habits again. I turned 40 in September and really want to keep going rather than returning to being obese. I officially have another 2 stone to lose to be at the top end of my healthy BMI and want to do all I can to be the healthiest and happiest version of myself. I am going to do a weekly weigh-in on Wednesdays to help keep me motivated and accountable. Anybody is welcome to join no matter how much you weigh, which method you are using, or where you are in your journey.

Hi @Bumblebeebum23 I'm very very slowly plodding along.
Gave up on the Sugerfree thing that was very 2023.

I'm sitting at 12st 4.5 today.
Still with desires break the 12st barrier. I'd love to be between 9 & 10st but that's still a long way to go.

I'm currently feeling fitter than I have in a while

Bumblebeebum23 · 02/10/2024 16:06

Hi, @Sugarfree23 👋 great that you are feeling fitter ☺️ and so close to moving out of the 12s.

I'm plodding too, but taking comfort in the fact that I haven't let things go too far before resetting and refocusing. I have lost count of the number of times I have lost lots of weight and put it all back on. Need to break the pattern once and for all!

Sugarfree23 · 02/10/2024 16:44

It's so easy to get into the same pattern. And every time you lose the next time it gets harder. I got down to 12st 4 on the last thread and slowly 🐌 went back up to 12st 10.

I'm back at 12st 4 with a determination to get lower.
I'm loosing very slowly 🐌 at about half a pound a week.

That's still good tho , I cnt wait to get to 12 stones 4

Bumblebeebum23 · 02/10/2024 17:36

You are both doing amazingly, and all those small steps do add up ☺️ I'm probably losing at the same rate, but losing 1/2lb is much better than gaining.

Sugarfree23 · 02/10/2024 23:23

You lost so much to start with.

My current fad is doing squats along with my teeth. And decades ago in so magazine I read walking up stairs 2 at a time tones your bum. Note it's a walk not using the momentum of a run. For a long time I couldn't do it but I tried it at work yesterday, yes I can do it again.

I own body scales that tell you how fat you are. Not sure on their actual accuracy, my body composition changes before and after a shower however going by them I lost muscle in 2022s diet attempts I really don't want to do that again. Hence the squats and stairs thing

Following! Anyone else tempted by the injections? I'm peri menopausal plus the weight just feels stuck. So depressing

Bumblebeebum23 · 03/10/2024 07:54

@Sugarfree23 There were times when there were bigger numbers at the beginning, but overall, it has been much slower than previous weight loss attempts. However, the difference at the beginning was that I was consistent, so it all added up. Over the last few months, I have been on and off, meaning I haven't seen the losses.

Welcome @Realdeal1 I haven't contemplated injections because I'm just too scared to go down that route. However, I have heard some amazing results. I am fast approaching peri/menopause, which is a big part of getting myself sorted. I realise how much harder it is when that kicks in!

I wouldn't want to to lose it that quickly, too many issues and loose skin

Sugarfree23 · 03/10/2024 08:51

I am too scared to try injections. I don't know anyone who is using them in the real world.
But I worry about long term side affects and risks of kidney and sight damage.

I also wonder how people will do in the long term, ie will the weight just pile back on and more?

I think I'm trying to be realistic on the diet this time, as much as I'd love to be able to drop 2lb a week is just don't think it's realistic for someone at just 5ft 2.

Bumblebeebum23 · 09/10/2024 07:43

Wednesday weigh-in - Down 1lb this week. Next mini goal is to get back to 11st 9lbs (which gave me my 4 stone lost before I regained it!).

I have my 40 year old check up at the GP on the 28th of this month 🙈 so the closer I can be to a healthy weight, the better l!

Hi @Bumblebeebum23
I'm down a pound this week. Slightly disappointed it wasn't more (period week) but at least the scales are moving in the right direction.
Holiday next week, want to enjoy but want to be careful too.

Gw 9 -10st

Bumblebeebum23 · 09/10/2024 14:57

Well done @Sugarfree23 👏 I was a little disappointed with 1lb, too, but every lb off is a lb in the right direction 👍

OP posts:
Sugarfree23 · 09/10/2024 15:59

A pound is better off than on.
Aim for next week is to stay the same, and not gain when I'm away.

Bumblebeebum23 · 09/10/2024 17:08

Sounds like a plan. Hope you enjoy your holiday.

I have a weekend away this weekend for my friend's birthday but going to try my best to stay on track for the majority of the week 😊

Sugarfree23 · 09/10/2024 19:47

I'm going to try intermittent fasting from tomorrow. My downfall is I have no plan in place and just hope to lose weight.

Worse, my partner is going low carb and has lost 3kg in a week.

Sugarfree23 · 10/10/2024 01:58

@Realdeal1 I think if your partner is low carb-ing that might not be a bad thing to try. Easier if your both doing the same and can encourage each other.

Hey if u need any advice with IF , I can help you x

Bumblebeebum23 · 10/10/2024 08:08

Welcome @Realdeal1 I agree with @Sugarfree23 that it will probably really helpful for both you and your husband to follow the same plan. You'll be able support each other and it saves cooking separate meals.

My husband is overweight but constantly eats rubbish and has no interest in changing! I just have to focus on myself!

However, I have loosely been following intermittent fasting, and it has really helped me. Weight loss has been a little slower than previous attempts, but overall, I have managed to stick with it more consistently (other than a few bumps in the road) because I don't feel starving or like I'm constantly craving banned foods.

OP posts:
Sugarfree23 · 10/10/2024 08:15

I'm finding low carbing easier to follow this time. IF I start clock watching which doesn't really help.

Bumblebeebum23 · 10/10/2024 08:43

Yeah, it's whatever works for you 😊

Daft question of the day, how do you decide when it's time to drop a jeans 👖 size?

My jeans are size 16 M&S and ok they have a bit if stretch built in. But I've just slid them down without undoing the button.

For so so long I've been poured into my jeans, only going up a size when they were seriously uncomfortable.
