YouTube workouts I can do

I'm trying to get back into exercise to aid weight loss. I used to do cardio one day (treadmill running because the treadmill has a bit of a bounce and is easier on the knees) and full-body strength training the next day.

I'm finding it hard to find any videos I can do. They all have jumping or lunges, which I cannot do because my knee is still not fully recovered from an undiagnosed injury.

I can do squats. I have a kettlebell, dumbbells, and an exercise mat. I'm very unfit currently and overweight and I'm, also limited on time so would prefer workouts that are 30 mins or less.

Does anyone have any favorite workouts they care to share?

I follow this lady on TikTok. She has exercises for arms, glutes, abs, 15 min whole body work outs etc. I just play to see which exercise, pause whilst I do the reps, then play to see the next exercise. I do the ones I can manage, I skip to different ones if there’s some I can’t do. I’ve noticed a difference in my muscle tone/strength in just 3 weeks of doing 3 x a week. Sometimes just 10/15 mins a session, sometimes 20 mins.

weight loss is mostly diet though tbh. I changed my diet and lost the weight before starting the weights.

@FactoryResetNeeded I am dieting, also. I've lost around 2 stone up to now but I feel like I'm looking bigger, not smaller. It's probably my imagination but I think doing some exercise would help, not only to tone things up but also help speed up the weight loss.

I'm also walking to (and sometimes home from) work which is around 5000 steps each way, plus taking the stairs instead of the lift. I do around 15000 steps per day on average, but that's pretty average for me (or at least it was before I injured my knee).

Caroline Girvan! There is a thread in exercise they might be helpful. I can’t recommend her enough

I do her workouts as well! I started beast mode today. I definitely like her workouts but she has a lot of lunges in her leg sessions. Maybe just choose some exercises you want to do and do it that at without following along with anyone? Although I admit the following along is much easier for home workouts for sure.

Lift With C - there's no one better, believe me I've tried them all.

Will check this out. Do they talk throughout the workouts or just music?

Don't start with Caroline Girvan, not beginner compatible

Kayleigh Cohen does strength workouts which don't include jumping and have alternatives for lunges

I also like fitbymik and madfit

Watercoloursky · 08/07/2024 20:39

I like Emkfit on YouTube - she gives lower impact variations of moves too.

I was a complete beginner. You don’t have to do the same weight as her she says that.

minipie · 08/07/2024 20:49

Madfit is good for 10-20 min weights videos. I haven’t done her leg ones so not sure if they have lunges, but no jumping. I also like Caroline Girvan Epic beginner and Epic Iron, again there are lunges but you could skip or swap for squats or deadlifts. MadFit probably has more instruction than CG.

@FluWorldOrder She doesn't speak directly to the camera but has a voice over talking you through each set and at the side of the screen a reminder of the set you are doing as you go along with encouraging messages from her users (sounds naff but really isn't). She's very encouraging with her body language and there is a full warm up and cool down at the end which is very important to me. It's the only PT I've followed and seen results from. Best of luck.

I started with Caroline Girvan Iron and have just moved on to fuel, she’s brilliant!

Frequency · 08/07/2024 20:54

LiftwithC and Emk look promising. I might save Caroline Girvan until my knee recovers a bit more.

Thank you all.

Team Body Project on YouTube or the have a website too. Dan has dodgy knees himself and so does some fab cardio sessions with very little or no impact.

Sounds good will check it out Smile

I usually go with Team Body Project. They have a wide range of exercises and a lot of them are low impact.

It's not about the weight, a lot of her beginner stuff is just really hard - take this one:

Single leg bridges and squats in it. I think beginners need to start with getting form right on normal squats and bridges

Agree, I have been doing CG and I am glad I have done lots of in person classes first to get form correct as she doesn’t give much instruction.

MrsMonzo · 09/07/2024 05:33

Take a look at Hasfit on YouTube, they do loads of workouts for beginners (I was a BEGINNER beginner, as in I couldn't even get through a Caroline Girvan warm up 😳)

They have a range of videos, some little 5 minute workout, some longer, some 30 minutes plus. Coach Kozack is also very easy on the eye, makes it a bit easier to get through 😁

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 09/07/2024 06:18

Would also highly recommend team body project, all low workout, and the team are relatable. Lots of different ones to choose from too.

CortieTat · 09/07/2024 06:48

I recommend HasFit, used to do their workouts before I switched to LesMills. Move with James is great for yoga and qigong. These are gentle exercises but they enormously improve balance so you work your core without even knowing.

He was extremely annoying for me but in a sweet way 😅. I always focused on the wife, I also did their workouts while pregnant
