Changing from Wegovy to Mounjaro

I’ve been on Ozempic/Wegovy for a year but haven’t lost for a while at 1.7 and suffer quite bad diarrhoea.

I’m planning to switch to Mounjaro. Has anyone done this and how was it? Did you have to start right back at the beginning dose wise?

I'm really interested too. There MUST be someone who has done this

I was on Wegovy and had a two month break as I was plateauing and wondered if I had anxiety side effects. I gained during the break (I think you are supposed to wait a month) then started on the Mounjaro. Weight loss rates have been similar on both I think (slow for me) but I am just working my way up the doses on Mounjaro and I never got above 1 mg on Wegovy. Side effects are less on Mounjaro and I and other people have found that it has helped with anxiety. (It didn’t go away during the two month break so I don’t think it was caused by the Wegovy). I did start with the lowest dose and I think that is what you are meant to do.

Hi, how is everyone getting on since the switch? I've plateaued on wygovy 1.7 for quite a few months now so just ordered a mounjaro. The prescriber said it works the same as wegovy but had the added benefit of helping to regulate insulin which I struggle with being a PCOS sufferer so fingers crossed I get a bit more of a response on mounjaro but we will see!

U should put this on the weight loss drug board.

Hi, apologies for hijacking this thread, but I was going to start a similar one. I'm currently on the highest dose of Wegovy. It's been fine, not too many side effects, but I'm having the problem that I'm still craving sweet food. So whilst I have a much smaller appetite for meals, I'm still prone to unhealthy cravings which is cancelling out a lot of my efforts. Could Mounjaro potentially work better to help beat the cravings? If so I'd be keen to give it a try. Also does anyone know a provider which will let you move from Wegovy to Mountjaro without having to start at the smallest dose and having to build up? I'm struggling to contact anyone on the online sites, they all seem to want you to do an online consultation and pay without being able to ask questions first! Thank you

I think Zava may prescribe a higher dose if you say you have been on weight loss medications.

I saw my endocrinologist consultant today (qualified, Bupa registered etc.) and he confirmed it is not necessarily to leave a gap when switching between Ozempic/Wegovy and Mounjaro.

Apparently the higher doses of Mounjaro are stronger than the 2.4mg maximum dose of Wegovy so he is starting me on 7.5mg.

This advice is of course personal to me and I not suggesting anyone should switch this way without taking their own medical advice.

Hi I'm now on 5 mg mounjaro and it's not as effective as I'd hoped although it's so much better on my system than wergovy was. When has it kicked in for you guys?

hellsbells99 · 26/08/2024 19:42

Hi. Just read your post @Karmakamelion . I switched over too and have now been on Mounjaro for 6 weeks and have increased to 5mg. It’s not really having much effect at all and my weight has remained the same and it’s not suppressing my appetite. But on the positive side, I am a lot less tired and a lot less constipated. I am taking week 7 jab tonight and have just ordered the 7.5mg so hoping that will kick in. I have been thinking I should have stayed on wegovy as 2 months worth of the injections is expensive for little effect. On Wegovy, I did lose over 2.5 stones …..and at least I haven’t put it back on.
