What breakfast do you have?

What breakfast do you have and does it keep you full?

I need to lose weight and as part of that think it would be really helpful to have a breakfast that keeps me full until lunch.

If I have porridge or cereal I am usually starving 2 hours later.

I very rarely do. If I eat breakfast I get hungry a couple of hours later, if. I don't I don't eat until about 2

henlake7 · 04/05/2024 11:26

I eat 2 breakfasts TBH!
No1 is quite small- 1 shredded wheat, 5 chopped prunes, plant milk and low cal syrup.
No2- much bigger- oats, PB powder, protein powder, grated apple, cinnamon, plant milk and raspberries.

Although if you feel hungry later on you could always split your breakfast and have half when you get up and half later (alot of breakfast foods are easily packable).

Scrambled eggs and 2 slices of wholemeal toast

I don't eat breakfast when I'm trying to lose weight. It actually makes me hungrier.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 04/05/2024 11:29

If I don't have a good breakfast I over eat all day. Current favourite is half a thin bagel with avo, some form of eggs, and some form of veg like tomatoes, spinach or mushrooms.

ILikePistachios · 04/05/2024 11:34

-Banana oat pancakes with fresh fruit
-Scrambled eggs & chicken sausage
-Smoothie
-Toast with cherry tomatoes, garlic and coriander
-Cinnamon muffins

I try to keep breakfast under 300kcal but need enough energy to get me through from 0400 to 1300 when I have lunch at work

magicstar1 · 04/05/2024 11:35

Scrambled eggs. If I have porridge or cereal I’m starving soon after. Eggs keep me full for hours.

TheBottomsOfMyTrousersAreRolled · 04/05/2024 11:35

I'm the same, don't usually eat anything before 1.30. If I start then the floodgates open but I rarely wake up hungry.

GoodOldWoo · 04/05/2024 11:57

I often eat lunch type food at breakfast time eg salad, or stir fry, pasta etc. It gives me much more energy during the working day, when I need it the most.

Same here.

Comedycook · 04/05/2024 12:08

I wish there was something that kept me full until lunch. I've tried everything. Porridge, eggs, carbs, no carbs. But as soon as I start it's like I can't stop.

CarrotSpa · 04/05/2024 12:09

50g oats, milk, 30g of protein powder, 100g berries or 3 eggs and a thin bagel

DisplayPurposesOnly · 04/05/2024 12:26

Yeo Valley natural yoghurt or Arla fat-free skyr, 110g, Lizi's high protein granola 30g, four prunes

wompwomp · 04/05/2024 12:37

People who feel hungrier after having breakfast are probably eating a carb heavy breakfast.
Try eggs

Tinytigertail · 04/05/2024 12:38

If I do have breakfast, it's usually some Greek yogurt with berries and some seeds/nuts. Most of the time, I'll grab an apple at about 11am

TheChosenTwo · 04/05/2024 12:41

I usually eat at about 11:30. When I’m wfh that’s often something like scrambled eggs and bacon, or avocado and eggs (I’m low carbing). I’ve just had something to eat now as we’ve been doing stuff this morning, I had 2 rashers of bacon, 2 scrambled eggs and some avocado. About 4ish if I’m peckish I’ll have some nuts or something (not technically low carb but I’ve just ditched bread/pasta/rice/potatoes so I’m fine with the nuts) and then I’m out for dinner.

If I eat breakfast it leaves me ravenous for the rest of the day so I just start eating when I get hungry instead which today was 12:15.

HarryUnicorn · 04/05/2024 12:42

Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon trimmings, on its own or with a bagel thin or similar if I’m walking into work/going to the gym.

Catandsquirrel · 04/05/2024 12:48

Yogurt, cacao powder, frozen cherries and blueberries, defrosted if cold, like ice-cream if warm! Also chia seeds and a small banana. Comes to under 300 cals if you use low fat live yogurt or Kefir. I like a good sized bowl so don't use full fat greek

Porridge with water, berries and fruit in winter

BluebirdBoogie · 04/05/2024 12:50

80g full fat Greek yoghurt with raspberries, strawberries, blueberries etc. A bit of kefir mixed in, topped with a handful of chopped nuts or seeds and some ground cinnamon.

Sounds a lot but works out at not many more calories than a bowl of cornflakes.

Thethruththewholetruth · 04/05/2024 12:54

Like many fast from dinner until 11/12 sometimes later, then have full fat yogurt (homemade) nuts, seeds, loads of berries l, keeps me full until dinner, occasionally have an appleor a latte mid afternoon as find that fills me up too.

lissie123 · 04/05/2024 12:59

Does an apple and seeds constitute a breakfast? The Human Being Diet seems to suggest it is?
