I've just pulled my head out of the sand and got on the scales for the first time since I had my eldest child 4 years ago and FML, I have about 3.5 stone I need to lose JUST be overweight rather than obese 😩. Just over 5 stone to lose to be a healthy weight. Whilst I really want to sit and cry into a packet of crisps - that's not going to change anything. I feel a bit sick at the enormity of it. I knew it was getting bad but was kind of kidding myself that my clothes didn't fit because my shape had changed with pregnancies, not that I'm just obese.

Ideally I'd like to TTC for baby #3 in July/August next year and would at least like to have lost some of the weight and live a healthier lifestyle by then.

ANYWAY, I'm going to use this thread to update and hold myself accountable. Post my weigh-ins, maybe some food diaries and moans when I fall off the wagon. Please, please join me!

Not sure if I'm going to choose a weekly weigh day or weigh in every morning, anyone prefer one way over the other?

@Sunshine1606 I am the same with colour and fruit and veg. I really feel it if I eat too much beige for too long.

I had my weight in and I have lost 3lbs this week. Really happy with that, I had hovered around the same weight for the last 2 weeks, so I am glad to push past it.

FatFatMary · 06/12/2023 07:07

I need to lose about 4 stone. The last few months I’ve not been eating alot, about half what I used to and I still have not lost any weight. The past 2 days I’ve eaten a total of 2 sandwiches, a 200 kcal pie, half a bowl of vegetables and some fruit. I’m actually not hungry so I’m going to keep doing this.

Sunshine1606 · 06/12/2023 07:23

@85isalive Congratulations! That's amazing. What weight loss plan are you sticking to? I weighed at 2.2pound loss today.

I think I might set a goal to always have something green on my plate.

today's plan
L crumpets with cheese and ham, big mixed salad, banana
D:slow cooker veggie enchiladas with gem lettuce.
S: cuppa soup and tangerine

85isalive · 06/12/2023 08:00

I do BodySlims online. It is cal counting, walking and weekly seminars.

I got myself banned from here yesterday when I started a thread about it, someone thought I was spamming 😂 so I will say no more in case I get booted off again!

I am sticking to 1200 cals a day now, while having days off for things like my work night out. I am going to keep going up to 22nd and then enjoy my Christmas break.

Food for today
B- porridge with banana
L- veggie and lentil chilli with cous cous
D- broccoli and chickpea veg curry with rice
I don't eat meat/dairy but have a heap of carbs 😍

DaisySnowdrop · 06/12/2023 10:33

That’s brilliant loss @85isalive and hello @FatFatMary too!

Day one of proper dieting for me- food shop due at 12. I haven’t eaten yet but I’m planning on today

2 x small sausage rolls for lunch
chicken stir fry and veg for dinner
and a small chocolate bar for after and according to WW I’ll be within my points.

FatFatMary · 06/12/2023 11:22

@DaisySnowdrop hi and good luck

MonicaBingaling · 06/12/2023 15:00

Hi please can I join here?

I’ve got really upset today , I’ve gained a huge amount of weight and it’s really upsetting tbh

my jeans don’t fit, I feel huge and been bi he eating basically everyday. Need to get off the McDonald’s and sort myself out asap.

so plan is to start tomorrow. Thursday is a weird day, I much prefer starting on a Monday or start of the month but here we are. I will start by weighing myself first thing (absolutely dreading this but will face it)

DaisySnowdrop · 06/12/2023 17:21

Good luck @MonicaBingaling - we are all in the same boat and are here for you! That first weigh in is horrible but take a deep breath and remember that it’s the start and the scales will only go down from here! :)

MonicaBingaling · 06/12/2023 20:00

@DaisySnowdrop thank you xx

MonicaBingaling · 07/12/2023 07:13

Okay so weighed myself this morning, I have gained a whole stone !! This is just since October so pretty bad! But today I intend to make healthy changes! Just healthy filling meals and less sugar.

DaisySnowdrop · 07/12/2023 10:34

@MonicaBingaling Please don’t worry! You could have that stone off in 6 weeks!

Sunshine1606 · 07/12/2023 10:38

@MonicaBingaling the first weigh is always the hardest so it's good you've got it out the way and can move onwards and upwards!

I'm not feeling 100 percent today so opting for a YouTube workout instead of gym.

L: crumpets with cheese and big salad with tangerine
D: Quorn Bolognese
S: crisps, boiled egg and a small banana

Hope everyone has a great day!

qazxc · 07/12/2023 12:57

food yesterday:
Breakfast porridge made with water and dash of low fat milk, low cal sweetener, tbsp of raisins and a chopped banana. Coffee with low fat milk.
Lunch bagel thin with turkey, mayo, lettuce, tomato and cucumber. Bag of air popped crisps
Snack low cal choc and orange snack bar (benefit from Aldi, V nice and 66
cal)
Dinner spag and low fat meatballs, homemade tom sauce, sprinkle of low fat cheese. Apple.
Activity: didn't have the time to go the gym as DP wasn't home. Walked to and from work (about 5km in total), which I try and do as much as possible.

Weight seems to be moving down again after a going up and down phase. Total weight loss so far is about a stone (7-7.5kg) in six weeks, so very happy with this. I know that this will stall in the next few weeks as it's hard to keep to a calorie deficit over Christmas, hoping it will plateau as opposed to go up.

85isalive · 07/12/2023 20:34

@MonicaBingaling the first weigh in is always the worst! I prefer a Wed or Thur weigh in, it keeps me on better track over the weekend.

I am sitting on around 1150 cals for today. I will have a mint tea while watching I'm a Celeb, and that will be it for tonight.

It's my work Christmas party tomorrow, so having a day off from counting cals. Not planning on going wild, but looking forward to a nice meal

Essie274 · 07/12/2023 21:37

So much to catch up on, welcome everyone!

@MummyShah369 absolutely not sugar free vanilla syrup! I find artificial sweeteners give me a headache - I'd rather eat something full sugar and keep my eye on how much. I make my own vanilla syrup from sugar, water and homemade vanilla extract (which is just vodka and vanilla pods steeped for 12 months!) and it works out at around 25/30 calories for the amount I use in my coffee.

@MonicaBingaling - Well done on taking the first step! It feels awful, but it shocked me into action (and I had gained a lot more than you!). We're all in the same boat - none of us are here to judge :)

I had a non-scale win today - tried on my jeans which I've been avoiding because I could no longer do up the button... they slipped right on! On my period too so a little more bloated than normal, so very happy with that!! I haven't weighed myself for a while as I keep forgetting (I like to weigh first thing in the morning) but going to try and do it tomorrow.

Food today:
Breakfast - porridge made with 1/4 cup oats, 250ml whole milk, 1 tbsp ground almonds, 1 tbsp ground flaxseeds, 1 tbsp chia seeds, frozen blueberries and half a grated apple, 50g Greek yoghurt. (approx 600 calories)
Snack - Americano with vanilla syrup (approx 35 calories)
Lunch - 4oz Ribeye steak, 1 large baked potato with 10g butter, quite a lot of broccoli steam roasted. (approx 900 calories)
Snack - Cup of tea and a rich tea finger (approx 50 calories)
Dinner - 50g (dry) wholewheat pasta, homemade garlic tomato sauce, bistro salad bag (approx 400 calories)

Exercise:
Swimming - burned approx 300 calories (total guess, but I worked hard for 30 min, then slowly cooled down for another 30 of gentle swimming)
Walking - walked 10,500 steps

Congratulations @Essie274 !! Fitting in old to jeans is the best feeling ever.

I am weighing every day and not really shifted anything this week yet. I've lowered my calorie input slightly to see how I go. I did 12000 steps yesterday which included just under an hour of cardio dance which is my Favourite feel good exercise.

Today.

L: leftover Quorn Bolognese, cucumber and ham salad
D: Rice and chicken tenders with salad
S: banana, crisps

85isalive · 08/12/2023 07:18

That's a great NSV @Essie274 I love fitting into old clothes. It's so hard to figure out sizes nowadays that at least if I fit back into something that was too small, I can actually see that I have got smaller!

I have my Christmas night out with work today, so not counting cals today, but have my food prepped for tomorrow so.I don't write off the full weekend 🤐

FatFatMary · 08/12/2023 18:30

I’ve had a peach, a plum and then a pizza crunch after days of healthy eating, and now I feel sick.

Essie274 · 08/12/2023 19:54

@FatFatMary - I see that as a good thing! When I've been eating healthily and then I eat something particularly greasy or full of sugar and it makes me feel sick, it really stops me craving it for a while instead of having the opposite effect like it used to! I'm sorry you're feeling sick, though; that's rubbish

@Sunshine1606 I forgot to weigh myself again today. I think I might try and do it everyday at least so I'm in the habit and don't keep forgetting! Cardio dance sounds like a real mood-booster.

@85isalive good for you for prepping for tomorrow; it's SOOO easy to write off the whole weekend after a bit of a blow out. Enjoy your Christmas night out!

My 1yo seems to be coming down with something again so has been on the boob and/or screaming all day, so my plans of making a lovely healthy sweet potato and black bean chilli did not materialise, unfortunately (well, until now - I'm prepping it for tomorrow!). Ended up eating chicken nuggets and chips with the kids, oops. Didn't count any calories today because frankly, I cba.

Breakfast - Flat white with vanilla syrup, banana, 2 chocolate hobnobs
Lunch - Chicken nuggets, chips and baked beans
Dinner - Tomato, bacon, kale and lentil soup from the freezer with a couple of slices of sourdough with butter.
Snack - Cup of tea, 2 clementines, 5 squares of chocolate

I had a lovely night, wasn't too late, but feeling the wines this morning. I don't drink very often now, and also I don't have as much weight to absorb the volume I used to drink 😂 so feel a little bit ropey. This is where I would normally write off the weekend but I am determined to keep on track for another couple of weeks, and then relax over Christmas.

Hope your wee one is feeling better today. I don't have kids, I think it is really easy for me to sit here planning my day and week, when I only have to cater for myself. DH is big enough to look after himself! Anyone who manages to lose weight while minding/feeding kids is amazing

MummyShah369 · 10/12/2023 07:31

I’ve just seen a documentary on Netflix on food and am shocked about the advice. It basically talked about meat such as chicken being a big cause of cancer diabetes and heart disease and as the sponsors are big brands nothing will be done. Not sure how much of it I need to believe but I was sitting there thinking what do I eat plant based or breakfast? They even said eggs were no good… it’s put me off breakfast I’ll do oat meal today.

They kept on referring to other animals and saying humans were not built for the current diet. However when it comes to being fat I am sure even in the animal kingdom creatures come in all shapes and sizes am sure you get a fat dog or monkey!

Sunshine1606 · 11/12/2023 09:50

Happy Monday everyone!

I derailed over the weekend following a few glasses of wine after a Christmas lights event. I'm always shocked by the cals when I go to log them...feeling quite guilty now. I need to plan out the following day like you @85isalive as I've then had knock on effects in to the following day.

Anyway onwards and upwards. Planning my meals for the week now. Hope you're little is doing ok @Essie274 .

85isalive · 11/12/2023 12:46

My Saturday didn't go fully to plan - I was fine for breakfast and lunch, but gave in to a take away and crisps on Sat night. I had the munchies ALL DAY. Yesterday was fine though so I am not getting too worried about it.

@MummyShah369 I haven't eaten meat in years and more recently (in last couple of years) have gone totally plant based. I've watched and read a lot about animal products causing inflammation in humans, animal protein can replicate human protein and sometimes our bodies get confused and not sure how to process it. Now, I won't pretend my diet is always healthy - there is A LOT of plant based junk available, which I often give in to, but when I eat simple veg based dishes, I notice a change in my digestion etc. My breakfast is porridge and banana 90% of the time.
