I've just pulled my head out of the sand and got on the scales for the first time since I had my eldest child 4 years ago and FML, I have about 3.5 stone I need to lose JUST be overweight rather than obese 😩. Just over 5 stone to lose to be a healthy weight. Whilst I really want to sit and cry into a packet of crisps - that's not going to change anything. I feel a bit sick at the enormity of it. I knew it was getting bad but was kind of kidding myself that my clothes didn't fit because my shape had changed with pregnancies, not that I'm just obese.

Ideally I'd like to TTC for baby #3 in July/August next year and would at least like to have lost some of the weight and live a healthier lifestyle by then.

ANYWAY, I'm going to use this thread to update and hold myself accountable. Post my weigh-ins, maybe some food diaries and moans when I fall off the wagon. Please, please join me!

Not sure if I'm going to choose a weekly weigh day or weigh in every morning, anyone prefer one way over the other?

It’s my weigh in today at Sw. I’ve had an ok week I think, I really try not to hop on the scales at home because I think if I’m paying all that money I should do it properly. I need a pound off this week to be in ‘new numbers’ so fingers crossed 🤞

Essie274 · 09/11/2023 21:12

@Waitdifferent - Welcome! Yes, I love the part about pausing to think about what you really want when craving something - I'm trying to do that too. It's totally okay to have some chocolate or whatever you fancy every now and then, but only if it is really what you want not just mindless chomping!!

Hows everyone doing today? Daily check-in from me:

Not a terrible day again, considering I was up for 4 hours in the night with my 1yo, then my eldest got me up for the day at 5.30am (a bad nights sleep almost anyways means lots of snacking and poor choices for me), but also not ideal.

Breakfast: Greek yoghurt, stewed apple and blackberries, 1 tsp pumpkin seeds and 5/6 hazelnuts chopped up.
Snack: coffee with 50ml whole milk and 1tsp vanilla syrup, mini muffin (healthier homemade kind)
Lunch: Roast chicken with peas, broccoli, wholemeal pasta, pesto sauce
Snack: Little bowl of rice krispies and chocolate hoop cereal (it is DS1s 'half birthday' so he could choose anything he wanted for dinner... this was his choice so of course I joined in)
Dinner: Pita bread topped with pesto and mozzarella x2, 2 salad tomatoes with balsamic vinegar, glass of pepsi max cherry
Snack: bites of bits of veg/rice/meat as I meal prep some lunches for the next few days for me and DH.

It's not a takeaway, or mountains of chocolate, so I'm calling it a neutral day. Not a win, not a lose.

Annoyingly I gained half a pound at Sw which I’m a bit disappointed with. I did have a fair few Syns at the weekend I guess but I thought I had done enough to claw it back. I’m feeling very tired and I had a crappy day at work. I could easily have thought Sod it and had some chocolate/wine/cheese etc but I just know deep down that’s not going to help me is it? So I came home, I had leftovers of last nights chicken casserole and planned out my week.

I’ve got nothing on this weekend and I’m really determined to not drink so much and to stick to my Syns this week as i now need 1.5lbs off to get into new numbers. Doable but not guaranteed, so I need to buck my ideas up.

Essie274 · 09/11/2023 21:47

@thenewaveragebear1983 argh, sorry to hear that but well done on not letting yourself slide into self sabotaging habits! That's a huge mindset shift!

How is everyone doing? Weight has been at a standstill for me. Hoping to see the numbers going down soon.
I joined a gym, as I didn't feel safe walking in the dark ar this time of year.
I braved an aqua aerobics class last night. As scary as being seen in public in a swimsuit is, it's one a class I can follow as my weight is supported by the water. It was hard and I can feel it today but I did it.

Waitdifferent · 17/11/2023 21:46

2lb down, sleeps still terrible, activity levels terrible but managed to curb my eating this past week so that's a plus and will stick to that for now. Small steps and being kind to myself, not superwoman and can't do it all!! Amazing job becoming someone who gyms! I'm in hibernation mode but plan to parkrun (walk) tomorrow morning.

qazxc · 28/11/2023 10:37

Hi guys, how is everyone doing?
As part of my calorie allowance, I have allowed myself 1 take away a month so got a kebab on Friday. It was lovely, but I didn't have the appetite to finish it (which is unlike me) so maybe the new eating patterns are sinking in.
Coming up to my period and crave everything/ would eat rings around myself if I let myself, but staying the course. Very slow moving scales which is frustrating but at least it's in the right direction (most of the time). It's been a couple of months now and while the weight loss has been small, I have felt more energy and more able to do things ( I think it's mainly due to the exercise).

Essie274 · 29/11/2023 12:32

Hi everyone - not been updating the thread as frankly, I've been doing terribly - which is so not the point of an accountability thread Grin whoops! We've been trying to stick to a really tight food budget this month to make buying xmas stuff a bit easier and I've kind of failed at that too so lots of toast being consumed here over proper meals which in turn makes me raid DCs treat box because I'm hangry! Learnt my lesson though and am starting to meal plan properly again.

Today's plan:
Breakfast - Greek yoghurt with clementines and drizzle of honey
Snack - Decaf flat white
Snack (unplanned) - Rest of DS's lunch (3-4 mouthfuls of leftover rice/curry)
Lunch - two slices seeded toast with 1/2 tsp each butter, 1/2 tin baked beans and 30g cheddar (would have added salad but we don't have any until food shop comes on Friday!)
--- (below is planned so god knows what I'll actually eat, but hoping to stay on track)
Snack - Cup of tea, mini mince pie, apple slices and chia pudding
Dinner - Salmon, noodles with soy/ginger/sesame oil sauce, peas, spring onions and broccoli
Snack - Cup of tea

Allowing yourself one takeaway a month is a good way to stay on track! Interesting to hear how your appetite has changed and hopeful for you that you can stay on track through your period as you sound like you have much more willpower than me!

Forgot to say that I'm feeling much more motivated to get some lbs off as DH and I have decided to bring forward the timeline for TTC to late Feb so really need to get my arse in gear!

Keep them meal plans coming not sure I would say a tea or coffee can be considered a snack… are you moving around as well?

I have a 1yo and 3yo, I'm constantly moving. I consider them to be a snack because I have them quite milky with a sugar and/or because I tend to have them when my children sit down for snack time so consider it my snack

Meal plan of the day:

Breakfast - seeded toast with butter x2, black coffee w homemade vanilla bean syrup, apple with cinnamon, 30g cheddar
Lunch - Roast chicken, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, mashed potatoes, yorkshire pudding, gravy, glass of malbec (first alcohol in months)
Snack/lunch pudding - Vanilla cheesecake with blueberries and Greek yoghurt
Dinner - Will have some leftover brothy chicken soup later on if I feel hungry

In love hearing what other people eat so please feel free to post your days of eating here too!

Hiii, can I join please? I was looking at Noom this morning but have decided I will do the dreaded calorie counting on MFP. I'm giving myself 1800cals which I'm not sure where I've plucked up this figure from. I also have set myself a goal to try and run 5k straight . Today I have been to the gym and did about ten minutes of running and the rest walking briskly 🤣 I did it in 32 mins so just going to gradually try and bring this down.

I am also on a tight budget until Christmas so am right there with you when it comes to reaching for a slice of toast and raiding the kids snacks. Today's food was not great but I plan on intermittent fasting from tomorrow and hopefully making better choices!

B: crumpets, cheese, cherry toms and cucumber
L: Omelette with courgette and cheese, tangerine and pop chips.
D: steak pie, mash and broccoli.
Snack: Mince pie and a glass of wine.

Thankfully the cals burned running/walking bring me under my 1800 cal goal.

Essie274 · 04/12/2023 21:16

Welcome @Sunshine1606 ! I think including some exercise is what I really need to be doing as well, if for no other reason than to offset the wine and mince pies this time of year. I do about 10,000 steps everyday on the nursery run but I think my body is used to it now lol as I don't find the walk tiring - maybe I should start jogging home (1yo may not be so impressed)?

Food today has been a bit odd:
Snack/Breakfast: Flat white and 2 clementines
Lunch: Basmati rice cooked in homemade chicken broth with butter mixed through, chicken, broccoli, peas, bacon, kale, butter beans and a drizzle of (low sugar) homemade BBQ sauce.
Snack: Black coffee with vanilla syrup, Frosty fancy (my favourite Christmas packaged snack)
Dinner: Spaghetti, homemade beef meatballs and tomato basil sauce.

I think I might need to start tracking a bit more accurately and also get some more veg and protein into my meals

OP posts:
MummyShah369 · 05/12/2023 08:03

assume it’s sugar free vanilla syrup! Also what’s your daily calories out? Beef meatballs, beans etc are protein right
think you probably need to look at portion sizes and get an idea of calories in vs out

85isalive · 05/12/2023 16:33

Can I join please? I've been lurking on here for a while. I have another couple of stones to lose, and I am trying to keep on track up to Christmas which is a bit of a challenge as we have a few nights out coming up. It was easier before now when I had no social life 😂although plenty of damage was done sat in front of tv, filling my face. I keep saying that I will stick to the 0% beer but if I start into the wine at all I end up with the munchies the next day.

DaisySnowdrop · 05/12/2023 21:06

Hello, I’m another that would love to join. I got on the scales today and I was 14st5 (a big shock as I thought I was 12:7!) it’s been a bit of a shit year but that’s not an excuse.

but anyway…I’ve joined WW today and logged my weight. Food shop comes in the morning too. I’d love to post daily on this thread even for just a check in :)

Perhaps we could all weigh in on the same day and update each other on our gains/losses? I weigh myself on a Tuesday but don’t know how that works for everyone else :)

Id love to be 13st 3 by the end of January and 11st by my birthday in June and I’d love some buddies to share this journey with.

Daisy x

DaisySnowdrop · 05/12/2023 21:07

My friend also said to me “why are you starting now not after Christmas?” Well, if I start after Christmas I’ll probably be a stone heavier!

85isalive · 05/12/2023 21:24

I weigh on a Wednesday. I am obviously now hoping for a huge, unrealistic loss tomorrow (as per every Tuesday night) while also telling myself that I should be happy to maintain through December.

All jokes aside, I would love to drop another couple of lbs before Christmas. I have planned my weeks out, I have a few meals out with work and pals booked, but it's the days in between I need to watch. I could easily eat my way from now to new year!

Fingers crossed for your weigh in tomorrow @85isalive! Let us all know how you get on- what is your goal overall?

85isalive · 05/12/2023 21:41

I've lost 4 stone, I want to get at least 2 more off, maybe 3. I am a slow lower, up to now I have been OK with losing a chunk, gaining a bit back, losing another chunk. I would love to get through the next 2 stones without a big pause/gain in the middle. I want to be finished by Easter-ish.

Sunshine1606 · 05/12/2023 21:44

I'd like to join in the weigh in club to keep me on track please!

@DaisySnowdrop how do you find WW? Have you done it before?

@Essie274 I do dancing workouts at home on YouTube occasionally if my youngest is napping or even after he's gone to bed. Finding the motivation to stick to it is the hardest part!!

I had a pretty good day with food. I genuinely feel like eating a colourful diet with lots of fruit and veg makes a positive impact on my mood.

L: potato and leek soup, one slice of bread, plum and a salad
D: Tortellini and courgettes
S: pop chips

Exercise I had a short walk at lunch time. Will try to do more tomorrow!

DaisySnowdrop · 05/12/2023 22:05

@Sunshine1606 I did WW around 4 years ago and lost 5 stone. I was actually the smallest I’d ever been! But now I’m back on it and it’s so different to before- zero point foods like chicken so similar to slimming world but going to give it a go!
