The next 7lbs

Stepped on the scales today and for the first time in years it started with a 10! Woo hoo! Only by the smallest margin my scales measure, but it’s something 🙂

So, time to get serious about the next 7lbs. 10st 7 was my ‘normal’ for many years and I would be very happy to get back to that, it will be a major milestone. After that, who knows? It would be ‘slim for me’ territory, and I’m starting to believe it might be possible, but one step at a time…

Anyone coming along for the journey?

Day 1: 10st 13.75lbs 😄

Please can I join? I've lost over a stone in the last month going from 11st 2lb to 10st exactly today. I want to get down to 9st 7lb for my holiday towards the end of August. I'm doing around 12k steps per day plus a short You Tube exercise video daily and I'm eating 1200 calories in a shorter window of 9am - 5pm. I now always clean my teeth at about 6pm as it stops me from snacking in the evening (I'm too lazy to want to clean them again!). Looking forward to hearing about all of your losses and helping each other through this 😀

BeastOfBODMAS · 30/06/2023 08:08

@allthelinterdit I often have a Bol veg pot for lunch. Last night I cooked a big batch of jacket potatoes to go with beans, coronation chickpeas or hummus and salad.
I have rye bread, ham, cheese and pickled veg in my sights for next week.

Just booked our summer holiday so in 2.5 weeks I will be taking the toddler swimming in front of actual members of the public. It’s very motivating.

allthelinterdit · 30/06/2023 15:55

Good work @thenewaveragebear1983 Keep going. You sound like you are on top of what you need to do.

Is everybody else 'done' once they lose 7lbs, or are you using that as an interim goal?
Personally, as much as I used to think I needed to be around 9st 3 (10lbs lighter than I am now) my body shape has shifted so much in the last year or so that at 9st 13 I actually don't feel or look the same as I used to at this weight, so I'm wondering if 9st 7 will actually be my optimum weight now. We'll see

allthelinterdit · 30/06/2023 16:01

Also well done @Cudz You are pretty much the same weight as me, and obviously same goal of 9st 7.
I do the same re teeth brushing. I even have a toothbrush and toothpaste in work to do them during the day to stop me snacking!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/07/2023 07:38

@allthelinterdit i think ideally I’d like to lose 10lbs but I’d be happy with being 10.7, that would be a 23lb loss for me in 2023 which was my new year resolution.

I’m ill today, had a sore throat and headcold yesterday and this morning I just feel wretched, I’m in bed with a lemsip and feel awful. I’m not good at resting though! I’ve planned all my meals out and was planning a run but that won’t happen now if I’m ill.

allthelinterdit · 01/07/2023 08:40

It sound like you'll easy do 10lbs @thenewaveragebear1983, you've done amazing already.

I hope you feel better soon. I'm no good at resting either, I can't sit still even when poorly

TooEarly4Breakfast · 01/07/2023 08:43

Hello. I need to lose 7 lbs many times over. My first 7 lb loss will mean the top size in asda will fit comfortably, there'll be a gap between me and steering-wheel, and I'll be more confident out and about, and at meetings.

I've started by not snacking in the evening after dinner, and trying to finish dinner by 7.30pm. Waistband is definitely looser.

Took most of the sweet treats off the delivery order last night. Eating mostly from what's already in the house, and only ordering fresh fruit and veg. Keeping everything as simple as possible. eg extra veg in a can of soup.

allthelinterdit · 01/07/2023 09:06

Well done @TooEarly4Breakfast
Really positive first steps in that journey for you!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/07/2023 20:49

I’ve gone over on my calories and carbs today for the first time all week, the perfect storm of my period arriving and also feeling really unwell with a horrible cold and sore throat. My ds made a chicken curry and rice and naan breads, and I had 2 squares of Yorkie chocolate and a few glasses of wine. Hopefully that won’t have destroyed my efforts for the week, although I’m going to be back on it tomorrow and I’m not weighing in until I’ve lost the period bloat anyway. I really really really want to eat all the sugar sweets and carbs now I’ve had a tiny taste, but there’s nothing in the house so I’ll just ride it out.

TooEarly4Breakfast · 01/07/2023 23:29

Thanks @allthelinterdit I stuck some masking-tape labels on the fridge door this evening, listing the contents. Trying to avoid convenience food and impulse buying. I don't know whether it'll make a difference longterm, and I ought to get going with a food and exercise diary too.

allthelinterdit · 01/07/2023 23:33

When I first started reading your post, I was reading it as you had masking taped the fridge door shut 🤣

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/07/2023 09:27

I weighed in this week at 156lbs so a 2lb loss this week which considering all the mitigating factors (period, feeling really unwell yesterday, wine….) is actually ok. I had dipped quite a bit lower that that this week when I was fully low carb so I hope a little more of that is water which will debloat this week! I feel much better today, well enough for a short run which is a good sign, yesterday I couldn’t even move out of bed.

OhOhFionka · 02/07/2023 09:28

Ooh same. Well am bang on 11 stone. I got to 10st 13.5 but gone up.

So yes. The next 7lbs to 10st. 7

allthelinterdit · 02/07/2023 19:37

How's everyone getting on? Weekends are so hard when you have lots of plans! 🥹

TooEarly4Breakfast · 03/07/2023 00:16

Not too bad today. Had far too many tortillas and dip early afternoon, but stopped when I realised what I was doing. In the past I would have eaten the lot. A very small success. Closed the kitchen immediately after dinner.

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 04/07/2023 07:11

Woo hoo 9 13!!!! Obvs after a wee and in my pants and I suspect crucially before I had my coffee! But I saw a 9!

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 04/07/2023 07:12

So,

  Week 1 10'1
  Week 2 9'13
allthelinterdit · 04/07/2023 07:36

Well done @Fooshufflewickjbannanapants
I hope it never begins with a 10 again for you 🙌🏼

TooEarly4Breakfast · 04/07/2023 08:15

allthelinterdit I think only Gorilla tape would keep me out, lol! I think the labelling catches my eye as I open the door, and distracts me from off-plan thoughts.

Weighed today, and down two pounds. I can fasten my too-tight jeans.

Total loss two pounds.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/07/2023 08:21

Continued to feel quite unwell yesterday, unfortunately I am not one of those who loses appetite when I am ill, quite the opposite. I was ravenously hungry all day and wanted ALL the carbs. In the end I succumbed to chocolate which was actually clearly what I wanted/needed because my cravings went away after that. Feel much better today after a decent nights sleep finally and hopefully over the worst of it now although I am going to still take it easy today and no running (I think running Sunday and yesterday was probably a stupid idea in hindsight)

I’m wfh this morning until 12 then going out to the office to deliver training, then kids football as soon as I get back home. Food will be yoghurt, chia and raspberries; chicken thigh and salad, then dinner I have some melting middle fishcakes which I will have with salad. So in theory I should manage a good, on track, low carb day.

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 04/07/2023 10:10

@thenewaveragebear1983 hope you start to feel better, how many carbs are you having? I tried Keto but found it too extreme and restricted wonder if low carb maybe more sustainable?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/07/2023 10:39

@Fooshufflewickjbannanapants yes I tried keto but I can’t sustain it, it’s way too low for me and my training just grinds to a halt. Last week I was having 60-80g a day which was much more manageable. I find if I can keep to that level I can also keep to my calories so much better, it’s like cutting the carbs down just takes the edge off my appetite. I actually did really well last week until the weekend arrived 🤦‍♀️

allthelinterdit · 05/07/2023 11:54

How are you feeling now @thenewaveragebear1983? Hopefully much better

I've had a 2lb loss, happy with that

ICanDoIt23 · 05/07/2023 12:13

Checking in for week 2 weigh in - a loss!

Week 2: 10st 12.5lbs - 5.5lbs to go 🙂
