May weight loss

Baileysoverice · 01/05/2023 10:42

I've rejoined nutracheck this morning. Just waking up, blessed with a lazy morning, then hopping on the scales to get my official start weight.

I'm looking at about 15st and at 5ft 3, I'm feeling the pain. My aim is to lose 5 stone by next May.

I'm doing this for health benefits as well as how I look. I turn 44 very soon and I can't feel this unwell any longer. I also look old and tired so hoping weight loss will brighten me up a bit.

Will log my start weight when I know it officially. Wanted to post before I chicken out (again).

Join me if you wish!

I had a really nice pudding tonight, and only 150 calories! It might sound a bit gross but don't knock it til you've tried it!

A handful of frozen raspberries that have been defrosting 20 mins
An activia yoghurt, cherry flavour
Half a sachet of readybrek smooth oats

Stir it all together

Trifle is still way deliciouser obviously, but it wasn't actually a bad substitute!!

This sounds AMAZING!!!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/05/2023 18:00

@SnuggleBuggleBoo I make exactly that as overnight oats for breakfast sometimes, I add a tbsp of chia seeds too if I’m doing it overnight

Hi everyone, joining over here. I weighed in at the heaviest I ever have out with pregnancy. Currently almost one year post-partum and just starting back at work so it's time to start focusing on eating better and losing weight. Ideally I would love to lose 4st 11lb. I'm 5'4" and 14st1lb. Gulp.

Goals are
12st 7lb - 1st 8lb lost - bmi under 30
11st 4lb - 2st 11lb lost
10st 6lb - 3st 9lb - bmi under 25
9st 4lb - 4st 11lb lost

I started on Tuesday. Currently been calorie counting down to 1200 cals. Allowing 1500 at the weekend. Today I had
8am coffee
11am banana
12.30 lunch (ryvita, low cal cheese spread and pickle today)
3pm fruit
6pm low cal ready meal with added steam bag of veg
7.30pm snack of 4 x rice cakes and a chocolate biscuit

I always feel motivated reading these threads so hopefully this helps 🤞🤞

MercuryRising · 03/05/2023 22:00

Can I please join you? I weighed in on Monday at 12.13 - I have decided to only weigh once a week as I have been losing and gaining the same 3 pounds since Christmas and it is not helping my motivation to see it daily.

I have cut biscuits and bread from my diet, I'm upping my steps and doing 30mins of a weighted hula hoop a day, I'm hoping this will have an impact.

I will be following you all for hints and tips 😉

I'll join in! It's nice to have some active, friendly threads about calorie counting, more movement and healthier food choices!

I've been back trying to sort myself out since January. I use MyNetDiary to track, I used to be a member of SparkPeople, had hundreds of recipes and foods saved, but they closed a couple years ago, at which point I gave up for a while.

Many years ago, I lost a huge amount of weight, half my own weight and then some. But two difficult pregnancies, and post natal depression helped me gain so much of it back. My children are now in school so it's given me some time to spend on myself.

I have lost 42lbs so far this year! Star

Had hoped for 50lbs by end of May for family wedding, but that won't happen, but I think I did pretty well!

Things I focus on are eating a wide variety of plant foods every week, 40 or more different foods. I like to walk a lot, I do like swimming, but the cost and logistics of my local pool having a mad timetable to accommodate school swims means I just don't go anymore. Which is a shame, as before having my second baby I lost a lot (again) by swimming weekly.

I am Autistic, which can make food sensory issues a problem, and I also know I eat to sensory seek, crunchy, salty, etc, which isn't great.

So yes, again, again, losing weight!

Mamadoodoo · 04/05/2023 18:37

I've had a bad start, I feel awful for being so weak but tomorrows a new day and I've prepared all tomorrows meals and pre entered it onto my nutracheck diary so I've no reason to mess it up x

MercuryRising · 04/05/2023 20:33

Good luck with your fresh start Mamadoodoo. Don't let one bad day get you down.

My alarm went off at 5.45 for me to get up and hoop - I really didn't want to, but I did and felt rather proud of myself 😊

Mamadoodoo · 04/05/2023 22:34

@MercuryRising oh well done that's brilliant! Smile I'm going to try and get a walk and a YouTube workout in tomorrow too, hope you have a good day tomorrow x

MercuryRising · 05/05/2023 20:31

Was today better Mamadoodoo?
I managed 30 minutes hooping and over 10,000 steps. I'm not sure how the weekend will go as I have bought loads of cake for a family coronation lunch, but I'm determined to make sure I make time to exercise.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/05/2023 21:24

Closing the kitchen today in 1475 cals, I did a 4 Mile run and a short walk, and came in at 59g carbs and 112g protein. That’s a good day for me and includes 2 glasses of wine as well!

I feel like I’m just biding my time a little through the weekend. We don’t really have any plans except tapas and a few glasses of wine on Sunday (cooked by me so easy enough to do on track) but I feel like I just want to ‘coast’ through the weekend, enjoy it, then in for a few strict weeks until we go on holiday. I reckon for just under 3 weeks I can really focus on low carbs and get a few pounds off.

I weigh in tomorrow- I genuinely have no idea if I’ve lost or gained this week. However, I am feeling good, my food has been good, and I am definitely noticing I look slimmer. My stomach area for sure, plus also the miscellaneous back fat/muffin top/ midriff area feels tighter and less poochy. My arms are also looking quite lean, with some muscle definition showing. I wish I’d done measurements but I will do them tomorrow prior to my 3 weeks strict!

Have a nice weekend all

esormirP · 06/05/2023 07:15

Hey all, can I join in, I stood on the scales and discovered I was 73kg. I like to be between 65kg and 67kg, so looking to shift a little.

I have had real success with the No a diet (no snacks, second and sweets(meaning pudding) except sometimes on days that start with the letter s)

I have started this this week, but a combination of DH being off work (he is starting a new job on Tuesday) and wine Wednesday(have a catch up with my pals) it’s been a bit of a disaster. But I was 72.1kg yesterday so I suppose being a bit more mindful has been helping.

ShopoholicIn · 06/05/2023 07:31

Hi can I join in.. I haven't weighed myself for more than 2 months as I can't bear to face the music.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/05/2023 08:22

Morning all, I weighed in this morning and I was 154.4lbs. So close to being under 11! But still, I am actually really pleased with that as I couldn’t tell how I’d done really. I am definitely feeling slimmer around my middle though. That’s a total loss of 1 stone 1/2 a pound now, and my target is 10.7. The challenge is on now to a) not regain too much this weekend with mindless eating and drinking and b) continue until we go on holiday at whitsun. I feel really motivated now, it’s been a very long time since I’ve been in the 10s so I am tantalisingly close!

eleanorwish · 06/05/2023 09:04

Hello, I'd like to join too please. I started dieting a couple of weeks ago when I realised I was the heaviest I've ever been at 16 st 6 and 5ft 3.
I've lost 4lbs since then. I'm using myfitnesspal to count calories, aiming for a slow, sustainable weight loss.
I've got to the age ( or weight) where random parts of my body start to hurt, so upping the activity isn't easy at the moment, so I'm just trying to build up the number of steps at the moment.

Mamadoodoo · 06/05/2023 09:34

@MercuryRising yeah I had a better day and I got some walking in - didn't get round to doing the YouTube exercises but I'll build up to that as I'm really unfit lol! That's good that you did the hooping and the walking - enjoy your yummy food this weekend you deserve a treat! X

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/05/2023 11:21

Hold the phone ladies, just wanted to show you these! They are little wafer crackers, great for dipping or using like crackers, 5 cals each. £1.25 a box in sainsburys although may be available elsewhere. I bought some earlier this week, they are really flavourful and super crunchy. Great little find I think. I plan to have them tomorrow with my tapas feast instead of bread, and even if you eat half a box/20 crackers it’s only 100 cals.

Mamadoodoo · 06/05/2023 12:26

@thenewaveragebear1983 oooh the cheddar ones sound lovely!! I'm gonna look out for them! Thanks for sharing x

PetitPorpoise · 06/05/2023 19:36

Hoping to join in for some general weight loss chat.

I started on April 15th at 14st 7 and I'm currently on 14st 2 so really pleased with that. I do think the start weight was a little high given TOTM but if it means I see some immediate progress then i'll take it.

My goal is to lose 1lb per week and i'm weighing daily, using Happy Scale to track.

Ultimately, I would love to be under 11 stone, but i'm focusing on little milestones. Seeing consistent 13st X numbers is my first target.

MercuryRising · 08/05/2023 06:39

Welcome PetitPorpoise 5 pounds weight loss is great!

I have just weighed in at 12.11 which is a 2 pound weight loss this week. I also had to remove a link from my hoop on Saturday as it was too loose 😊 After a weekend of coronation cake and wine I'm pleased with that. I need to draw a line under the weekend now and focus on achieving the same again next week.

Looking forward to hearing how everyone else got on - this thread is really keeping me motivated.

Purpletoes · 08/05/2023 07:42

Good morning Can I join in?
Last Monday I weighed in at 79.9kg which is the heaviest I have been in a long time. I am only 5 ft 2.5. Ideally I would like to get to 63kg and see from there. Mid term goal is 70kg by July as I have a friend's civil ceremony and party on the 1st July.

This week I have eased in doing 16:8 and trying to be mindful of what I am eating I have had some bad days though with sugar so will try this week to combine it with fast 800 a few days to kick start the healthier habits. My downfall is snacking in the evening so 16:8 is helping with that.

Weigh in this morning 78.4kg so happy with 1.5kg loss but will be better this week.

orangegato · 08/05/2023 07:52

Morning all, hope you don’t mind me slithering into the thread as I have a couple of stone to lose (I think, I don’t own scales).

Went for a curry last night so the guilt is real, hoping to get back on it today. Had hoped for a walk but pissing it down all day.

Using MFP as I have done for years but goal is to to stop lying to it lol.

Shirty48 · 08/05/2023 08:08

I’d like to join too. I lost 5 stone in my early 20s. Over the years I have put the 5 stone back on plus another 2 stone and just can’t seem to get motivated. As I’m older now I’m aiming for a 5-6stone loss. I do go to the gym but it’s a bit inconsistent so aiming to improve that and I’ve signed up for my first body pump class this week 🥺. Aiming for 3 meals a day, lots more water, snacking on fruit and stopping eating after 6. Would like to lose weight before family events in early July and a holiday at the end of August.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/05/2023 08:12

Morning! I feel surprisingly chipper considering I got about 3 hours sleep and i drank white, rose, gin and cider last night. Actually don’t feel too wretched.

I’m starting (again) fully strict, ass kicking, low carb, totally on it- 2 weeks 5 days until holiday so I really want a last final push. I won’t weigh myself today, I weighed yesterday and was pleased so I don’t feel the need to punish myself for yesterday. I did my measurements yesterday as well, not done them this year and regretted not doing it. My food was fine, ( I have attached a picture of my tapas board because it was so pretty!) and I did have some nachos and salsa and a little piece of rocky road but actually i didn’t go mad and don’t feel like I went off the rails. Even though I mixed my drinks, I didn’t actually much of any of them.

so today- I have a couple of chickens to cook, one for dinner today and one for the week. I’m going to prep some salads as well for the week for my lunches. My aim this week is just to keep carbs under 50g, so lots of salads, protein, dairy and eggs, keeping calories to 1300. this also coincides with me having quite a sore hip so I am going to rest up this week and have a few days off running and deep leg work, to give it a break.
