Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes 👍

Hello All
Checked out a bit for a few days to get my head screwed back on, thankyou all for the kind words r.e the job its been completely daunting and I've spent the last few days alternating before feeling so excited to be free and terrified I've made a mistake. Hoping the next few months go smoothly.
Took myself horse riding yesterday and got to ride another new horse that I previously to heavy for and he was such a gentleman helped me figure out a few things i've been struggling to get right and just really cheered me up so that was nice.
Meals today
Lunch- A very uninspiring cheese sandwich
Dinner- Chicken pasta of some sort

@AutisticLegoLover glad to see you found some raspberries
@ImALittlePea I hope you are feeling better soon,
@SanFranBear I have that book in my to read pile, perhaps i'll bump it up the priority list
@ginsparkles Thankyou for the puppy picture she is beautiful!

TheRealHousewife · 14/02/2023 14:33

Sounds interesting @SanFranBear I'll look it up👍

Thank you, I will keep that in mind @TheRealHousewife ❤️ I've messaged DH just to get things off my chest (again). Hasn't made me feel any better, and I doubt he'll respond, let alone say anything to make everything feel better, but I suppose with a big relationship problem the conversation has to start somewhere??

I caved though and had a bag of crisps 😏 FFS... but I have put everything into MFP for the day and I'm still only just over 1200 cals. Which isn't at all bad. I'm still cross with my lack of resolve though. NO MORE EMOTIONAL EATING (please)!

greenspaces4peace · 14/02/2023 16:03

All’s well enough over here just not being consistent on logging and snack choices but not too bad if I’m maintaining soooo
dh who’s rather kind but not romantic invited me to dinner…
here’s the menu.
so I’ll be aiming for breakfast and lunch to be as low cal as I can muster, and fitting in my exercise.
we’re non drinkers.

Looks amazing greenspaces I'll have one of everything 😉

Really sorry to read about your troubles with DH LittlePea If it's any consolation, my partner and I have been navigating some of the hardest parts of our relationship recently and when he suggested we go out for dinner this past weekend as an early Valentine celebration, I was not feeling the idea at all. But the food was incredible and we spent two hours not being superficially loved up, but talking about the problems we've been having and getting more understanding of where the other one is coming from. It really helped and we are feeling much more close and loving since. Whatever it is, I do hope you can have a proper conversation in time xx

I've been a bit offline as we were away over the weekend. Ate a lot and some reaply festive but not nutritious stuff. Slightly feeling the lure of sugary things the past two days due to that.

Got to go and do baby stuff now but will put today's food later on if I get a chance.

greenspaces4peace · 14/02/2023 18:22

@Cloudberries123 i’m hoping to keep the bread to a minimum, salad, no appy dh can go fish crazy and order what he wants.
Then try the crispy tofu? The dessert is shared soooo that should help.
input welcomed
but I hate fish

buzzofthebumblebee · 14/02/2023 18:27

Ahhh @ImALittlePea - so feel for you. It's so unsettling for you. Crisps all metabolised off in nervous energy. Don't worry about them. Be extra kind to yourself, and hope the air gets cleared and things sorted (as much as they can) soon.

All OK here. Busy few days.

Enjoy your dinner out @greenspaces4peace - and everyone else being treated for valentines. So glad you can ride a new horse @Allthegoodnamestakken ! What fun. Big wave to everyone else. Enjoy baby snuggles @Cloudberries123 . I'm about to start on dinner.

B - mushrooms, spinach & an egg
L - veg soup & sweet potato
D - beef casserole

TheRealHousewife · 14/02/2023 19:55

Crispy Skin Salmon for me @greenspaces4peace 😋 Enjoy yourselves you little love birds ❤️

@ImALittlePea All things considered I wouldn’t stress about the crisps! We all need culinary comfort at times.

Hi @Cloudberries123 Hope you had a great time!

OP posts:
greenspaces4peace · 14/02/2023 20:29

@TheRealHousewife i knew you would go for the salmon ;)

AutisticLegoLover · 14/02/2023 20:38

I'm ending the day on 1061 calories and 10.7 miles.

Tofu thingy for me please and sticky toffee pudding @greenspaces4peace

@ImALittlePea thinking of you. My autocorrect always corrects crisps to crisis so I take that to mean they go hand in hand. They are just crisps, they don't matter. I'd be mainlining chocolate or chip barms so you're doing grand.

Wednesday again tomorrow. It always comes around too quickly and the weight doesn't shift quickly. AF has messed up my weight but we will see what tomorrow brings.

Weatherwax13 · 15/02/2023 00:44

Barely any loss this week but another 1cm off my waist
SW 88.88kg
TW 80.5kg
GW 76kg
So I'll keep going. No sugar again this week - made chocolate mousse for DS and his GF yesterday and didn't even lick the spoon.
@ImALittlePea sorry to hear you're going through crap. I'm heading to a make or break scenario with DH I think so I sympathise. Awful when the person you want comfort from is the one who caused your pain. Hugs to you

Allthegoodnamestakken · 15/02/2023 06:35

Happy Wednesday everyone!
Weighed in at 65.5kg which is pretty much exactly the same as last week not surprising considering I ate 2 big meals out. I have really struggled to get back into the gist of things since Christmas I have lost all the festive weight gained but can't seem to get any lower than 65.5kg

AutisticLegoLover · 15/02/2023 06:44

@Weatherwax13 well done on the shrinkage! Measuring is a great idea to get a better picture of how you are doing.

I have a wow WOW: 59.8kg this morning! I'm quite shocked to be honest especially with AF fully raging. Stupidly I feel a bit cheated that I didn't get to see 60kg flash at me but I'm certainly not complaining 🤣Goat met and surpassed. I know my original was to get to 9st 3lb as that was my weight a few years back a few months after the husbandectomy. I'd weighed my heaviest before then at over 11stone thanks to a chippy over the road and husband who brought me late night pizza and chip barns after work. I stayed around that 9st 3-7lb for a long time and only gained a stone when pregnant with ds. Lost that when he was born and breastfed what felt like 24/7 so the weight stayed off despite me eating my own body weight in chocolate and biscuits for the first year. Then being single for the past few years has seen me put weight on plus perimenopause. It was time to take charge and here I am being supported by you lovely lot knowing I'll feel more confident in that swimwear this weekend. Thank you for all the encouragement and support so far, you've all been great. I don't have close friends IRL thanks to being autistic so I find this thread my source of friendship and really value it💖

I hope you all have a loss today, and if not a loss, a NSV to celebrate 🎉

@ImALittlePea I hope you find some peace today.

@TheRealHousewife yes, it was sliced babybel lights. Sorry, I forgot to reply when you asked. I'm still impressed by how much food it looked sliced up just one apple and 2 babybels and 5 crackers. It took a while to eat like that too and was very satisfying. It might become my new favourite lunch if I can find some crackers like those in Asda.

AutisticLegoLover · 15/02/2023 06:48

@Allthegoodnamestakken I missed your post as I was waffling on 😬
You'll be due a whoosh soon I'm sure. Two big meals out and staying the same is actually impressive so don't be disheartened, you'll get there. Some will be water weight from salt I bet plus the actual food weight. Give it a couple more days, up your water to flush out the salt and then see. You might get a loss by Friday.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 15/02/2023 06:54

Morning all, Another 1lb loss for me this week, that's me at 10st 9.5. I had really plateaued around 10 st 11/12 for ages, so psychologically it feels great to have broken that barrier, especially when my exercise has been limited to to an injury.

Aiming for 10 stone by summer if I can!

Good luck with the weigh-ins today!

ginsparkles · 15/02/2023 07:42

Morning !

Well done @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo and @AutisticLegoLover !!

@Weatherwax13 yay for another inch!

Cheeky unofficial weigh for me is 2lb off but weigh in day is Friday so let's see.

Plan for today is:
Breakfast GF cereal with LF milk and some grapes
Lunch chicken and beetroot salad, yogurt and fruit
Dinner salmon, potatoes and veg
Cereal bar and fruit for snacks

Ninjachicken · 15/02/2023 07:53

Well done everyone who has lost or shrunk! I am not weighing today as I know it will be bad. Going to do it on Friday when I have had a couple of days to try and undo the damage I have done!
probably out for lunch today so very light dinner for me and back on plan tomorrow

SingaporeSlinky · 15/02/2023 08:13

Well done for losses so far. Probably a few will see delayed losses thanks to lovely Valentine’s meals and chocolates, which isn’t a bad thing of course. DH and I agreed not to exchange gifts this year so I didn’t have that issue.

2lbs loss for me this week!

SW 10st 7 (in early 2022)
2023 restart 9st 12
CW 9st 7
TW 9st
Finally starting to shift!

TheRealHousewife · 15/02/2023 08:16

Good Morning WOWsers 😊

Im up .3lbs. That’s OK. I’m looking for a drop overall on the month which I think I will achieve 🤞

@greenspaces4peace You know me so well 😊

@AutisticLegoLover Thats a fabulous result! Well done, you’ve worked so hard (you always do btw) 👍👏⭐️ I love babybels. I’ve not had them for some time.

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo Great result, fortune favours the patient (sp)👍 To lose by summer you’d have to lose on average a 1lb a week. Very doable with a consistent plan and due diligence. Re-affirm your intentions to ensure your headspace is on board😬 👍Imagine how you want to look in your summer clothes ☀️ 👗

@Weatherwax13 That’s a very positive change. Another inch of your waist 👍👏

@Allthegoodnamestakken If you’re wanting to lose some more rather than maintain perhaps re-evaluate your plan. I plateaued for months. I got a bit forensic and tweaked things here and there. Overall my calories remained the same and I adjusted my macros.. That got me losing again. One tweak I did was turning to black coffee rather than fancy coffees with milk or cream. The calories I don’t use in coffee I mostly have in nuts/fruit etc.

@Ninjachicken Good plan 👍🤞

@ginsparkles 2lbs 😮👍👏

Morning all, there’s quite a few messages for me to catch up with so here goes…

@ImALittlePea hope things are looking brighter this morning

@AutisticLegoLover please tell me more about the fig/cranberry crackers they look awesome!

I forget who posted the gorgeous puppy pic but thank you, always a treat to see unexpected doggies 😍

@TheRealHousewife Life IS pretty hard for me (thanks for asking), I suppose you don’t get to 260lbs without some degree of emotional eating involved. My weight piled on when my son’s issues with school became apparent (he’s now been out of school for 18 months, I had to give up work and life has completely changed). But anyway, I’m on the up, reversing the weight problem and just started a part-time job which is manageable.

Only 1lb off for me this week due to binge-eating, TOM and a valentines dinner with wine (not loving wine now though?!)

SW (Oct 2022) 256lbs
CW 217lbs
Next GW 196lbs (with lots of mini goals on the way)
WL 39lbs 😊

buzzofthebumblebee · 15/02/2023 08:39

Wonderful losses. Delighted you're over the 60s hurdle @AutisticLegoLover and into 50s. I'm looking forward to that feeling when if I ever get down into the 60s.

Very well done too @Bumblebeehum !!! Very impressed by valentines dinner and wine, as well as weight loss given valentines dinner and wine ; ) I'm not complaining. I got flowers this year, very thoughtful. He's not usually one for any form of romantic gestures, especially those "commercially imposed" !!!!

I'm officially down 1lb this week to 11 5, but unofficially more I think. (I was 11 4 yesterday). But my digestion is still not playing ball.

Love your phrase great fortune favours the patient @TheRealHousewife - so true. Keep up the good work everyone.

Cloudberries123 · 15/02/2023 08:45

Not weighed yet and may not today, you're right Singapore the festive Valentine's eating has, erm, stayed with me 😛 So I don't want to discourage myself with a potential false gain. If I can get things moving by tomorrow or Friday that'll be good.

What a sweet post AutisticLegoLover I know I find this a supportive space too. I have several autistic friends and my DP and fam are very ADHD, so I'm somewhat familiar with the social challenges that being neurodivergent can bring. We can all tell from your posts that you're a lovely, warm, funny and dedicated person. And well done on your loss, even if you missed the satisfaction of seeing exactly 60!

Right, my food -

Breakfast - tea and a rice cake at 5 am (baby life), sweet coffee, yoghurt, granola at 7.30

Snack - absolutely ravenous so will realistically eat something before lunch. Lovely tupperware full of roasted carrots and sweet potato so might be that

Lunch - puy lentils, rice, 2 fried eggs on top

Snacks - water, tea

Dinner - tbc but will include halloumi salad 😋

Have a lovely day everyone x

SingaporeSlinky · 15/02/2023 09:03

Odd question, but does anyone else feel extra cold while losing weight? I know fat is obviously an insulator, but only losing a pound or two can’t make that much difference, surely? Yesterday I was sitting in a top and massive fleece jumper and still needed a blanket on me while sitting on the sofa. Thermostat is on 20 degrees and kids were fine. In fact, they were sitting around in t-shirts!
