This is a continuation of the diet for Christmas challenge that was undertaken in 2022. Thank you to @OhFatty for starting that.

It is a group of us wanting a supportive environment to loose weight in the long term. Hopefully the posters from the Christmas challenge will sign up again and new members are welcome.

We each have our own way of doing this and there are no rules other than being encouraging to everyone and cheering on successes.

"No scales so I’m guestimating my weight 😊 at 8st 7lb so a great drop there 🤣 super happy with that."

@Dashel hahaha that made me laugh! Love it!!

Gemzee · 19/04/2023 14:08

Hope you feel better soon @bigdecisionstomake

Gemzee · 20/04/2023 07:22

Hi me again! Going away today so won't be weighing tomorrow morning. So decided to weigh a day early (which is slightly cheating but oh well) .. I have lost a lb 😊 Estatic with that!
Have a good few days all.

Dashel · 21/04/2023 06:44

@Gemzee congratulations on your loss and I hope you enjoy your break!

@bigdecisionstomake I am so sorry that you are I’ll, that sounds horrible. I am glad that you are being looked after.

If you need help with body disposal give me a shout! I would be ready to kill your DH….

So back home late last night and there was a lack of vegan options on the service stations by the time I got lunch so I got two vegan sausage rolls 🤦‍♀️ I was so hungry and still a few hours of driving left.

On our meal out I probably ate nearly 2000 calories as everyone wanted three courses. I am weak! My steps have been ok but not so much the scales 😭10st 3.4lb 🫣🤬😢

Some will be salt but a lot won’t be so I’m going to try fasting till dinner. I fly out next weekend and am starting to worry about my coming home weight. Need to be super clean.

Good morning on this very wet Saturday.

I am so pleased it’s the weekend as it’s been a long week. It was good to go away but so chaotic food wise.

Yesterday was a good diet day. I was up early so did a quick GFWR and then went for an early morning walk with DH and a walk after work so I got 17.5k steps in.

I did pretty well on my fasting, I caved at 4 and had an apple then we had a massive Mumsnet salad for dinner.

This has had a massive effect on the scales and I have gone from 10st 3.4lb yesterday to 10st 0.7lb this morning.

I imagine it might go up a bit tomorrow as that seems insane but I did weigh three times. We are both going to try and loose a bit more we fly next weekend. It can just be so hard as part of me is in holiday mood already even though I have another week of work.

I hope you are all ok and @bigdecisionstomake you are feeling better soon.

Morning all

Thanks for the mention @Dashel and amazing progress with the weightloss - I need to try to magical mumsnet massive salad for myself I think 😂

I'm still here but life has just got in the way (as it is prone to do sometimes!)

I was feeling a bit better on Wednesday so (foolishly as it turns out) went out with some friends to a ticketed event that had been planned for ages. The plan was to be back on it gently from Thursday but the night out left me completely wiped out the next day so I obviously wasn't actually well enough to go in hindsight.

Then my DF was taken into hospital suddenly yesterday so all good plans went out of the window again and as he is likely to be in for a few days and DM will need some support I am expecting another few days of being out of routine in terms of exercise and food.

I am feeling largely better in myself now so am going to try to fit in some exercise this morning before madly trying to get all the weekend jobs crammed in and then heading over to visit DF later. I haven't been weighing as I know it will be depressing but I am going to try to cut down the snacking as best I can although will need to plan ahead as hospitals aren't always the easiest of places to find healthy choices....!

I'm not giving up - just might need to accept I can only do my best with so many other demands for a few days but I'm sure things will settle down again soon.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Dashel · 22/04/2023 08:02

I’m sorry to hear about your dad @bigdecisionstomake. Life does get in the way and sometimes you have to prioritise other stuff, especially family.
I hope he gets better soon and you feel back to normal too.

Morning all

Thanks @Dashel 🤗my parents live a little way away so I'm going to move down for a few days to help mum while dad is still in hospital and be nearer for visiting.

That means no access to my scales but I'm going to take my exercise gear and try to get a couple of cardio workouts in and keep on top of my eating as much as possible. Whilst I'm not expecting any progress I'm hoping I can do some damage limitation for a few days.

Yesterday was actually a good one diet wise as I did a 30min walking workout with Olivia Lawson plus a random 20 minute full body workout with CG. I had a late breakfast and then missed lunch altogether as I didn't have time and just had a 400 cal ready meal for tea as it was late when I got home and I was exhausted. I also walked my parents' dog in the afternoon to give mum a break so even allowing for a glass of wine with tea I should have been well under calories for the day.

I have a mountain of things to get done today before heading off so hopefully the running around will burn some calories too!

Have good days all.

Dashel · 23/04/2023 07:14

Good morning!

@bigdecisionstomake I am sure your mum will appreciate your support. I hope that you get everything done and your dad is recovering. I think you probably needed that glass of wine and certainly deserved it.

I put on a little going from 10st .7lb yesterday (after a fast day I lost nearly 3lb which I wasn’t expecting to stay all lost) to 10st 1lb today. I only managed 11.5k steps but did do a 30 min RPM Les Mills session and my sweat was dripping on the floor. Lucky we have vinyl type mats designed for garages for the floor. My legs are a tad sore today.

We used to do three 45 min sessions every week a few years ago before we had bikes, so no excuses not to get back into it.

@TheBatwoman If I have my dates right, I think you start your new job this week so good luck with that. I hope it goes well and everyone is super lovely.

I hope everyone else is doing well too. Even if it’s been a while since you posted, I hope you are carrying on and making progress and everything else is ok.

Good morning on yet another Monday 😭

I managed to put on half a pound and weighed in at 10st 1.7lb but I was so hungry yesterday evening I did have an extra bowl of muesli before bed and a few extra calories.

We spent the afternoon in the garden tidying up and did a couple of tip runs on some heavy stuff. I probably did a lot more that I should have done but it looks better outside now and I did 17.5k steps.

I hope everyone is ok and we all will have a good week x

Good luck with the new job @TheBatwoman hope it all goes well!

@Dashel Last week counting down to your holiday, you must be really excited - I love the week before and all the anticipation! Be careful not to overdo it and do anything to risk you being able to go.

I am now at my parents for a few days but trying to be mindful of eating. I've managed a 30 minute Olivia Lawson cardio abs workout this morning and will do a dog walk this afternoon so a few less calories burned than usual but still not too bad. No weights here so have given CG a swerve this morning but may give some of her body weight only workouts a go later in the week.

Luckily mum likes quite light meals so the food side shouldn't be too bad but I need to avoid snacking.

Have good days all.

Gemzee · 28/04/2023 07:24

Hi all, sorry not here much, very busy! I lost a pound this week, estatic with that!!
Have a great Bank Holiday weekend all 😊

bigdecisionstomake · 28/04/2023 16:55

Hi everyone

Am back home after a busy and tiring week. Dad is out of hospital and feeling a lot better so that's a relief but he had a procedure done on Wednesday that means he needs to avoid anything strenuous for 4-6 weeks which in turn means mum is still under additional pressure looking after him as well as all the housework/cooking/dog walking on top. I expect I'm going to spend quite a bit of time whizzing back and forth over the next few weeks.

Congratulations on your loss @Gemzee you really are keeping it consistent which is a great example to me for one.

I think you're due to leave for your Cyprus holiday this weekend @Dashel? I hope you have a fabulous time and come back relaxed and refreshed and ready to smash the Diet for After Holiday Challenge 😂

I have been pretty much off plan for the last week again. Meals not too bad but snacking out of control and a glass (or two) of wine most nights. I haven't ventured onto the scales yet and will probably not do so for a few days. I am going to make a conscious effort to get back into the right mindset over the next few days though. I was over the moon at being able to get back into my size 12 jeans but am now starting to feel they're a little snug again so I know I've undone some of my good work. Bank holiday weekend is probably not the best time though if Easter is anything to go by.....however I can't keep making excuses for ever. Going to get my kit out for tomorrow morning right now....!

Gemzee · 28/04/2023 17:45

@bigdecisionstomake it can be hard to get back on track after some time off, however I'm sure you will be able to. That's been the difference for me this time round, I pig out/overindulge for bank Holidays or time away but get up and exercise straight after - I've never done that before, I've always given up.

Let's all be a bit kind to ourselves over the BH and get back on track as soon as we can 😊

bigdecisionstomake · 29/04/2023 08:16

Morning all

Thanks @Gemzee I've think you've hit the nail on the head, when I fall off the wagon for a period of time I have a really strong tendency to throw the towel in but I need to change the mindset to just get back on it and start exercising again. When I'm exercising I tend to be more mindful of food so as to not waste the effort.

I put my kit out yesterday and made myself get up and workout this morning despite not really feeling it. I've done an Eleni fit 30min cardio HIIT and then around 30 mins of a longer CG Back and Bicep workout. I feel much better for it and need to remember this feeling....

I'm going to track calories today to put me back in the mindset of being aware of how much I'm eating but not be super strict as it's a bank holiday weekend.

I may weigh in tomorrow, even though I know it will be bad but it's nearly two weeks since I last weighed and I think I just have to face the music and get on with it.

7 weeks until the France holiday (assuming dad is well enough to go!) and would dearly love to be in the 9s by then - so that's where I'm aiming.

Have a good weekend everyone 😎

Dashel · 29/04/2023 12:53

Hello everyone

hope you are all well.

DH wanted wine at the airport and I’m a lightweight nowadays 😂 it’s gone to my head. Coupled with a burger 🫣

sorry I have been quiet just so busy getting the house sorted out and work as up to date as I could.

@bigdecisionstomake we have to keep swimming to those pesky 9s

@Gemzee hope you enjoyed your break and are well

Hi everyone,

Hope you’re all doing well. Thanks for the words of encouragement. It’s been really busy settling into the new job, but I really love it! I’ve been so much happier!

Food hasn’t been great as I settle in to new routines and have had a few work events where haven’t had much control over what I’ve eaten, but have been more active and really enjoyed that.

Annoyingly I’ve gained a little weight back over the past two weeks but not unexplainable or unexpected, so I’ll take that and work on it now as things start to settle down.

Hope you’re all having a great day :)

bigdecisionstomake · 30/04/2023 08:29

Morning all

Enjoy your holiday @Dashel and drink all the cocktails and eat all the lovely food 😎

Glad the new job is going well @TheBatwoman I'm sure things will settle down as you get used to a new routine.

I decided to bite the bullet and weigh in today, I can't keep ignoring the scales forever. My scores on the doors therefore are:

Week 17
Initial start weight 11st 5lb
Final target weight 9st 11lb
Weight two week's ago 10st 3lb
This week's weight 10st 5lb
Gain in two weeks 2lb
Total loss so far 1st 0lb

I'm hoping maybe half a pound of that is water weight but I would think it is likely (and fair) that the remainder is genuine weight gain - scary how quick it can happen.

My hip is painful again currently so I've just walked this morning but am heading over to my parents later today and will walk the dog for them so it will be a good steps day.

Hope everyone is having a lovely bank holiday weekend 😃

bigdecisionstomake · 01/05/2023 08:15

Morning all

A quick one from me - feeling a bit under the weather again today and hip is very sore so no exercise but am going to try to keep on top of my eating.

Weighed in at 10st 5lb again this morning which I'm happy with as we were late home yesterday and picked up a chinese takeaway on the way home so thought I might have put a bit on. I had 900 calories left to play with and only ate a fairly small portion so hopefully that has helped to minimise the damage.

Will be taking it easy today. Have good days all.

bigdecisionstomake · 02/05/2023 08:00

Morning all

Back to work....groan!

The scales haven't been kind to me this morning - not sure what has happened but I've gained 2lbs overnight to take me up to 10st 7lb 😱I'm crossing everything it's a combination of the chinese takeaway, too many crisps yesterday and a fair bit of wine....hopefully things will start to stabilise in the next few days after some cleaner eating!

Nothing to do except keep swimming so I've got back into my usual exercise this morning although as I missed weights yesterday I've done them today instead so a 20 minute Yana Official walking workout followed by Day 19 of CGs Iron Series which was full body. The hip is still sore but am pushing through - hopefully it won't make it any worse. I did a bit of extra stretching afterwards too to try to mobilise it.

Have good days all.

bigdecisionstomake · 03/05/2023 10:00

Morning all

I sang the hallelujah chorus on the scales this morning as thankfully the 2lbs that appeared overnight yesterday disappeared again this morning and took a bit more with them. I'm down to 10st 4.6lb which I should think is likely now a non bloat weight following a couple of weeks of going off plan. That means a gain of 1.4lb to deal with which should be doable in the next couple of weeks. Soberingly it's 0.2lb higher than I started April so in effect it's a month's progress lost.

I am however not going to dwell on that and am going to firmly look forward towards the 9s 😁

I've done a cardio day today so a 30 min Eleni Fit HIIT followed by a 20 minute Grow with Jo.

Have good days all.

bigdecisionstomake · 04/05/2023 08:04

Morning all

A very quick one from me today as I'm heading out to appointments shortly. The scales continue to be kind and I've lost a little more to take me down to 10st 4lb - very happy with that!

I've done a 10 minutes Improved Health walking workout as a warm up followed by Day 20 of CGs Iron Series which was Arms, Abs and Core Supersets.

Have great days all.

Gemzee · 05/05/2023 06:58

Morning all! According to the scale I've lost another pound* which is actually quite unbelievable after the weekend I had! Ecstatic again for sure! Happy Friday!!

*full disclosure, when using Stone/lbs on my new scale it doesn't give fractions (¾) or points (.3) after the lbs so all these times of 'losing' a pound for me may be quarter of a pound or half a pound but it shows as a pound loss on the scale if that makes sense!!

Well done on your loss @bigdecisionstomake

Just keep swimming everyone!

bigdecisionstomake · 05/05/2023 08:28

Morning all and happy Friday

Congratulations on your loss @Gemzee that's awesome.

I've had a STS at 10st 4lb this morning which I'm happy with, especially as I ate a quite large unplanned slice of cake yesterday - it was delicious though so no regrets 😁

I'm driving my eldest back to his home town today which is roughly an 8 hour round trip so I will be very sedentary and need to avoid mindless snacking. If I'm back in time I'm out for a meal and some drinks tonight with some friends.

To counter act all of that I've done a 30 min Olivia Lawson Metabolic walking workout and a 20 min GFWR so at least I feel like I've moved my body a bit and earned some calories. I think there's a band on at the pub we're going to tonight so might even be some dancing...💃

Have good days all.
