Diet For Summer Challenge

Dashel · 02/01/2023 19:11

This is a continuation of the diet for Christmas challenge that was undertaken in 2022. Thank you to @OhFatty for starting that.

It is a group of us wanting a supportive environment to loose weight in the long term. Hopefully the posters from the Christmas challenge will sign up again and new members are welcome.

We each have our own way of doing this and there are no rules other than being encouraging to everyone and cheering on successes.

Good morning everyone

@bigdecisionstomake you are in the 9s so yay, even if you are stuck for a few days that is awesome news!

@Gemzee hope your week back on track is going well.

Do either of you want to do the Christmas one?

I came back from a weekend at the in-laws and a cruise having gained a pound and with Covid 🤦‍♀️

Still testing posted and feeling pants but I have now lost a bit and am 10st 0.8 which is good considering no gym or walking this week. I got between 15 to 25k steps daily on holiday and a weights session.

I fly out on Friday so need to keep with the salads!

Hi, I had a stay the same this morning which I'm happy with. Been doing harder workouts all week and been painting in the house the last 2 days so I ache a lot! Diet hasn't been 100% on track but better than last week.

Morning all

Thanks @Dashel I'm super happy to be sticking in the 9s but it would have been nice to reach my target of 9st 11lb. I'm out tonight with some friends to something with a two course meal and no doubt there'll be some alcohol too so I think this morning was my last chance to see that number unfortunately!

So sorry to hear about the Covid, that's a fairly rubbish holiday souvenir to bring home. Was the cruise fabulous apart from that? Coming home only a pound heavier is something of an achievement though - good work on all the steps and weights workouts.

I am definitely up for a Christmas thread. Whilst I will try to work out on holiday and keep active because I feel better if I do, I'm fully intending to eat and drink whatever I like while I'm away so am expecting to come back with more than a pound to lose. I think I am also going to adjust my target down to 9st 7lb. Not sure if this is doable but even at 9st 12lb I'm finding some of my clothes are still a little tight on my waist. I think menopause has caused me to carry more of my weight around my middle in the last couple of years. I'm hoping that if I can keep up with the weights I could get to 9st 7lb and still look healthy and toned.

A STS is not bad @Gemzee always better than a gain and probably sensible to ease back in gently!

I have STS too at 9st 12.2lb. I weighed on DPs fancy scales out of curiosity and I'm 9st 11.1lb on those and my body fat has dropped to 27.6% so I'm very happy with that. Going to stick with my scales for continuity though as they are where I started this so 9st 12.2lb it is officially.

Morning

Started my holiday celebrations early last night and am feeling really rough this morning. Need to go back to bed for a nap at some point I think 😳

Last night's revelry has resulted in a gain this morning to 9st 12.6lb - whoops. I haven't had the stomach to work out this morning either so tomorrow is unlikely to be any better.

@Dashel re-read your post yesterday after I posted and I'm wondering if you were actually asking if @Gemzee or I wanted to start the Christmas thread? If so I'm happy to do that if you didn't want to. I'm back from Greece on 22nd so will do it sometime the following week if you like? When are you back from the Maldives?

Got to pack with a hangover now - not ideal! Wish me luck...

bigdecisionstomake · 09/09/2023 08:56

@Dashel also meant to say, one of the ladies I was out with last night is an NHS vaccinator and she was saying that the new strain of Covid is really nasty. The NHS is quietly bringing the vaccinators back into action almost a month earlier than planned here apparently to try to get ahead of it. Hope you're taking it easy until you're fully recovered.

Morning

A very quick one from me as we're off to the airport shortly. I ended up not working out yesterday although I ate well (and avoided the wine following Friday night's over indulgence).

As a result I am 9st 13.2lb this morning which I expect will be the additional glycogen I'm carrying as a result of no workout yesterday.

Overall I'm really happy to be going away in the 9s, this is much better than when I went away last year and significantly better than the 11st 5lb I was in January.

Going to cross everything you are also in the 9s when you go off on your special holiday @Dashel

Hopefully see you and @Gemzee on the Christmas thread when we get back 🙂

10st 2 this morning, my body seems to be settling at this. I will need to kick it harder. The first few days of Covid, I lost my appetite then it came back 😫

@bigdecisionstomake i hope you have a wonderful holiday. You have worked so hard and I hope you feel better for it. I hope Greece is amazing and you relax and really enjoy yourself.

I’m back from Mauritius on the 1st of October so perfect time for a Winter thread. Maybe some of our old posters may come back. I hope they are all doing well.

We May have booked another holiday for May and so more focus for me. We have had so many people with life threatening illness around us this year that DH wants to seize the day. Thankfully no one has died but the amount of cancer and similar severity illness has been shocking in our friends.

Hi, had a small win today. When my alarm went off I ached and was tired so turned it off with the intention of going back to sleep. My body ached from yesterdays workout. Much like a few weeks ago when this happened, I couldn't get back to sleep so 10 minutes later I got up.
I did a shorter workout than intended but still worked hard.
The instructor on my workout (Team Body Project) said the challenge is not in the workout itself but in turning up to do the workout.
Pre Jan/Feb this year I'd have just lay in bed and felt guilty all day.
I'm so glad I've changed for the better!

Gemzee · 16/09/2023 09:14

Lost a pound this week! Happy with that 😊 Is there a new Winter or Xmas thread?

bigdecisionstomake · 23/09/2023 06:47

Morning all

Well done on the loss of a pound @Gemzee that's great, you must be properly back in the swing of it all now 😀

@Dashel Hope you're having an amazing time in Mauritius - I'm very jealous 😎

I've had a fabulous couple of weeks in Crete, got back in the early hours and am going to spend the rest of the weekend getting back into a routine and unpacking and doing the washing. Going to start back on it on Monday.

I have overeaten massively on holiday - we ended up having practically a full main meal both lunchtime and in the evening - complete madness but I do love eating out in other countries and trying all the lovely local dishes. There were endless ice-creams, cocktails and bottles of wine too so I am expecting there to be significant damage weight wise although I'm not weighing in until Monday morning. The only saving grace was I did use the gym at the hotel a few times and did quite a few exercise classes like Pilates, Legs Bums and Tums etc... was nice to have the time to do this....!

As the thread title is no longer very appropriate I have started a new Diet for Christmas challenge here: Diet For Christmas Challenge 2023

Hope you will both come and join me (and anyone else who may still be following this thread). There are 13 weeks to go until Christmas so plenty of time to make some progress 😀
