Amazing August

Hi ladies,

Here is the new thread. I am going away to Selsey till Friday, then up North from Saturday till Monday (unless there is an emergency whilst I am away).

Weighed in at 9st1.75 this morning, a bit of a rise, tbh I ended up eating quite a lot up North just to get through and dont get my steps in.

No particular aims for me in August other than to get through and hopefully stay about the same weight.

Thanks for the new thread! I’m off the scales while the HRT settles, but on a friend’s advice have taken measurements this afternoon instead.

Waist 29.5
Hips 39
Upper thigh 23.5
Under boob 32
Over nipple 36

i think I will do this fortnightly.

I’m keeping up my runs - yesterday was the first run of week nine and 30 minutes straight! - and sit-ups.

QueenMabby · 31/07/2022 18:58

@Judystilldreamsofhorses - you've done so well with the running that's a real achievement. We'll done. Definitely a good idea to keep an eye on measurements. I may do the same.

@Octopus47 - I hope all goes well with your travels.

Covid negative finally although I still have a cough. Steps v low though so plan this week is for 7,500 a day and two lots of light to moderate exercise (more than a walk but nothing hard core). Have had a couple of large chocolate intakes this week so that'll have to stop.

Octopus47 · 01/08/2022 10:01

Thanks @QueenMabby , fingers crossed we dont have any emergencies. 9st0.25 this morning.

LBB2020 · 01/08/2022 11:01

Morning all,
You are doing amazing with your running @Judystilldreamsofhorses!
Glad your free of Covid now @QueenMabby
Enjoy your travels @Octopus47, fingers crossed for no emergencies!
I say it every month but I’m really going to give myself a big kick up the butt this month! Mindful eating, back to the gym/running and lots more water. We go away at the end of the month and I’d like to be feeling more comfortable in myself by then. I’m going to weigh in weekly on a Friday (even if I’ve had a bad week)

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/08/2022 10:56

I girded my loins and got on the scales - 11stone 1. That’s 5lb down on last week’s night weigh, but still not great!

I had drunk a big glass of water as soon as I got up, which obviously I weighed, and I am still bleeding with Mirena/HRT so I think both of those things are playing a part.

i have one more run to do and I graduate C25K!

LBB2020 · 03/08/2022 08:04

Brilliant @Judystilldreamsofhorses you have done amazing!
The month has started off ok so far. Food has been ok (yesterday could have been better but it wasn’t terrible) and drinking more water, just need to get my motivation back to exercise!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 03/08/2022 15:55

Oh I definitely didn’t “lose” 5lb in a week @LBB2020 - my weight is just bouncing around since having the Mirena fitted at the start of July!

I graduated C25K today. Really proud of myself.

QueenMabby · 03/08/2022 16:17

@Judystilldreamsofhorses - well done on the c25k - that's a fantastic achievement. Do you have a plan now? Keeping at 5k or do you have 10 in your sights??

<whispers> Well done also on the 5lb. A loss is a loss!

@LBB2020 - I'm also struggling to get back into exercise - did 20 mins Pilates yesterday and it nearly killed me!!

9st 7.8lb this morning so 1.4lb less than last week which is good. Hoping for 9st 5lb by month end.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 03/08/2022 16:29

@QueenMabby I’m really slow so my plan is to go back to an earlier week (I think five) where it was shorter runs - like eight minutes - with walking breaks, and try to speed up a bit. My pace averages out about 8 minutes per KM, but today was so humid I was at 9.5ish.

I gained 10lb in three weeks since having the coil in, so I am trying not to see it as “real weight”. I’ve now dropped to 5lb gain in four weeks, so hopefully on the right track!

swallowedAfly · 05/08/2022 07:27

Morning.

Judy it works by convincing your body you're pregnant so it's bound to have some effect on your body really. Well done on shifting half the gain already.

My weight has shot up but at least some of that will be that I'm pre menstrual and haven't been to the toilet hopefully. My plan is to go into work this morning and move some furniture around in my classroom and see the bursar and HR if they're in so that should boost my steps and stairs and then I'm off wild swimming with a friend in the afternoon.

I thought I knew what goal I wanted to set for August until I saw the scales this morning but now not so sure that's attainable. So I'm modifying it to I would like to be securely under 12 and a half stone by September and hoping that at least is achievable. Scales had shot up to 12:12 this morning annoyingly.

September will be busy and a jolt to the system after 6 weeks off work so hopefully that will help me get properly losing again.

LBB2020 · 05/08/2022 10:05

Arghhh according to the scales I’m 11st1lb this morning which is 2/3lb up on last weigh in!
I have no idea how to get back in control of this anymore!

Octopus47 · 06/08/2022 08:33

@Judystilldreamsofhorses I'm massively impressed with your running. Good to see everyone.

Back from leg 1 (Selsey), now off up North a bit later for a couple of days to look after my Dad. Luckily there were no emergencies whilst I was away. Up half a pound this week, though it would be a lot more, but still time for it to show.

OP posts:
Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/08/2022 15:55

@swallowedAfly i hadn’t thought about it like that, the coil tricking your body into thinking it’s pregnant. It sounds like you have good, realistic goals.

@LBB2020 you and I are in synch.

@Octopus47 glad your trip is going okay and emergency-free.

I completed C25K on Wednesday! I now realise that niggling pain in my right foot I have been ignoring is plantar fasciitis so need to take it easy. It was bearable until Thursday and then became excruciating as I walked home from the dentist - I had to sit down on a planter thing at one point because it hurt so much. I feel so annoyed at myself because I pushed on through the pain, ignoring rest days. What an idiot.

LBB2020 · 06/08/2022 19:59

Oh no @Judystilldreamsofhorses take it easy with your foot! Have you got some good trainers or been to a running shop so they can watch how you run and help you pick out suitable running shoes?
Glad your time away has been emergency free @Octopus47 and I hope your time with your dad is as stress free as possible.
Keep going @swallowedAfly, I’m trying to rethink my goals over the weekend and get a plan of action in my mind to start Monday! Nothing crazy as I won’t stick with it but I need to start making some small changes that will stick and that i can build on. I’d like to be 10st by Christmas which I think is reasonable!

swallowedAfly · 07/08/2022 20:41

Thanks LBB. It is a bit gutting - I was 11:6 less than 4 months ago. Each year since I started I've had a patch where I end up regaining a chunk. It's always down overall for the year but without the regains I'd be doing so well. Still it's a marathon not a sprint and all those cliches and still winning really so long as I keep turning it around each time and come out with a deficit each year.

Sorry about your foot Judy. I'm quite scared of running because I'm convinced it would be too hard on my joints especially at this size.

I was 12:11 this morning. Period has arrived.

Octopus47 · 09/08/2022 09:08

@Judystilldreamsofhorses sorry to hear about your foot. Hope it starts to improve soon.

@swallowedAfly it is a marathon, not a sprint and lets face it life gets in the way. You have still done fantastically to have lost the weight you have.

I've gained another two pounds during my time up North. Also went out with my bestie last night for a meal and drinks, 9st2.75. TBH I'm a bit guilty of eating my feelings at the moment cause of the situation with my Dad. All a bit tricky, should know more before too long. Difficult when your parents regress to almost being like toddlers.

Hope everyone enjoys the weather today.

<sidles back in>
Sorry I've been a bit MIA.

@Judystilldreamsofhorses - so sorry to hear you have plantar thingumy (sorry can't remember what it was called or how to spell it!). Definitely take it easy and when you ease back into running go backs week or two.

@swallowedAfly - it does seem a bit one step forward and two back sometimes doesn't it? Baby steps. As others have said it's a marathon and not a sprint - a lifestyle not a diet. Better to be slow and enjoy the process.

@Octopus47 - well done on getting through leg one. Hope leg two goes ok. You've previously been pretty good at stabilising your weight again once you're home and I'm sure it'll be the same this time.

I was 0.2lb heavier this morning than last Wednesday so basically the same. Back to the gym tomorrow so wish me luck!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/08/2022 10:31

Happy Friday everyone! I’ve not weighed this week and been taking it easy exercise-wise - I’ve done 10k steps each day but only one short run (and OWWW my foot afterwards!).

I’m back to work on Monday - where did the six weeks go? - and really need to screw the nut.

LBB2020 · 12/08/2022 14:08

Busy week here and not the best diet wise! I forgot to weigh this morning and am out both Saturday and Sunday with friends for lunch/dinner so think I’ll wait until next Friday. I’m off work next week so hopefully can get back on track and into the routine of exercising again (weather forecast looks like it should hopefully be cooling down as it’s been so hot again!). Hope everyone is ok and has a good weekend!

Octopus47 · 13/08/2022 09:28

Enjoy your week off @LBB2020 . Cannot believe the heat again, it slows me down but doesn't seem to take my appetite away funnily enough.

9st1.25 this morning, so so.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 13/08/2022 10:05

Thank you @Octopus47
I’ve not enjoyed the heat much, it makes me tired and irritable which isn’t the best combination with two young children around who are also hot and bothered! It also doesn’t take my appetite away either, I’ve lost count of the number of ice creams I’ve eaten! 😳

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 16/08/2022 10:35

Hmm, I am up 5lb today. It’s definitely the HRT if I am logical about it, but FML. I’m going to write down a weight timeline here so I can refer back to it while feeling crazy - sorry to be boring

Normal weight - 10/3, 10/4ish
Lockdown - up to 10/7ish in August 2020
Maintained 10/7 through to April this year which coincided with stopping smoking/Covid non-stop eating and up to 10/10
Started HRT and jumped to 11/6 within three weeks. Lost 5lb in a week, gained it back in a fortnight

i seem to be having periods again now I am off the mini pill, and am on one now. Really hoping that stops soon!

Octopus47 · 17/08/2022 08:04

I'm sure it will @Judystilldreamsofhorses , it can take your body a few months to settle down when you go on HRT.

I'm relieved that its cooling down, although its still pretty muggy, we are forecast a storm this afternoon. 9st1 today. I'm trying to eat a bit more healthy stuff after weeks of eating nothing but crap, but I'm not getting enough steps in, partly due to the weather and still eating a bit too much. My Dad has a phone hospital appointment on Friday so we should know a bit more then.

Hope everyone has a good day.

LBB2020 · 17/08/2022 16:46

Hi all, it’s crazy the impact hormones have isn’t it @Judystilldreamsofhorses!
I’ve still not weighed yet this week, although food hasn’t been too bad I’ve not got my steps in or exercised other than a 10 min core YouTube video today (toilet training DS1 so we’re suck at home for a few more days while he tries to get the hang of it!). I’m also due on my period and am really tired, bloated and very irritable (poor DH!).
It's still warm and muggy here too @Octopus47 and we haven’t had any rain yet either even though it was forecast yesterday and today!
Hope your dad is ok and the appointment goes well on Friday

sparklyglitterball · 19/08/2022 07:55

Morning ladies, I've also been MIA so far over the summer hols! We went to France in the first two weeks and I'm not fully back into the healthy eating zone yet! I'm still running 3/4 times per week which helps. Just going for damage limitation at the mo 😆
