Hello & Welcome 😊 WOW 😯 April came around so fast. The sunny Spring weather and easing of Lockdown brings so much joy and promise for the coming year.

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The members of these threads are inspirational, supportive and happy to share their progress (the ups and the downs).

We all know that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

@sunshinecake

I am a Soap and Glory fan too. Their Sugar Crush moosturiser is just lush!

Sorry to hear about your nightmares. I still get them on occasion too. Hope you get a better sleep soon.

SunshineCake · 12/04/2021 22:03

The sugar crush body moisturiser is the one I mean and I have the body scrub too which is lovely.

SunshineCake · 12/04/2021 22:04

I'm hoping I slept without any nightmares. I am not running tomorrow and really feel like I need a day of doing very little but there is always so much to do.

132orbust · 13/04/2021 08:27

Quick post before I forget:
Day 99
SW:151
CW:137
GW:132
Another 0.5lbs
On day 99 this is my lowest weight and on a Tuesday which is very encouraging. I am due to go on a decent walk tonight with my chum so I will fast until 4pm then have a good meal to give me energy and a small snack on my return at 8pm to consolidate the loss.
I'm a bit surprised as I had a very indulgent Sunday but I will take it obviously - it backs up my theory that the occasional giant meal fires up your metabolism again and allows you to drop some weight.
It is lovely to see so much self care on here. We all deserve it as we rush around in our daily life keeping all the balls in the air.
@ShakerMakerGirl please check in with us or if you don't want to post, then read how many of us are being kind to our bodies and be kind to yourself. We are here for you if and when you need us x

SunshineCake · 13/04/2021 16:46

Well done @132orbust. I have been struggling with life today so had three biscuits as my afternoon snack then walked the dog. I'm just so tired and nearly nodded off this afternoon. Think it is a consequence of long covid. I will run tomorrow then weigh myself and hope for a staying the same if not a loss result.

Hi everyone Smile.

132orbust · 13/04/2021 16:57

Excellent timing for your post @SunshineCake as the last thing I want to do at 5.30 having started working 10 hours ago is head out for a two hour walk with my chum but I will as if you can run with long covid then I can trot with slight inertia!
Also my pal has got a fancy new job, having being made redundant due to covid 9 months ago, and I have two little presents for her and I know she will be happy so win win.
Onwards and inwards

SunshineCake · 13/04/2021 17:23

Great stuff @132orbust. Hope you have a nice time with your friend and I'm sure you'll feel great for going.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 14/04/2021 07:03

Loss this month - 2lb
Total loss since starting - 60 lb

132orbust · 14/04/2021 07:08

Thanks Sunshine. I was pleased to have gone, though the first 20 minutes felt like a real effort! I came back, had a decent snack, bath and bed by 9.30.
So good news on the scales this morning:
Day 100
SW:151
CW:136.75
GW:132
Another 0.25lbs
A bit of a milestone as that takes me to 14.25lbs lost with 4.75lbs to go.
If When I get there I'll think again.
It's a beautiful morning so I'll try and get out for a quick lunchtime walk today even if it's just 20 minutes to keep things going in the right direction.

132orbust · 14/04/2021 07:12

Wow @HalfShrunkMoreToGo you posted while I was typing. 60lbs is such an achievement and your BMI changes are very impressive.
You keep us all focused. Little wave to @TheRealHousewife and a hope that the sun is shining wherever you are.

Supergirl1958 · 14/04/2021 10:09

Hi everyone. After posting my own thread, I thought it best to join an existing one, where I can be accountable to you all. I hope you don’t mind me joining half way through the month. My sisters birthday tomorrow and a busy weekend so will be starting from Monday. Can anyone talk me through the acronyms please?

P.S. sorry for gatecrashing...if you don’t want me to, that’s fine :)

SunshineCake · 14/04/2021 10:43

Well done @HalfShrunkMoreToGo. Star.

Great news on both counts, weight and walk @132orbust. Keep it up.

@Supergirl1958. Welcome ! Everyone is free to join when they want and we all support each other. I don't know what acronyms you mean so I'll guess -

SW - start weight
CW - current weight
GW - goal weight.

Let us know if any others and we'll help you and good luck.

I came home all happy at my run stats and then walked the dog for 75 minutes. Then gutted to get on the scales and I am up 0.6lb on last Wednesday. Need to not let me catastrophise this, accept it was probably the five jam and cream scones I had from Wednesday to Sunday and slap myself. Was so hoping I would have dropped to the next stone but that would have meant a loss of 1.9 lbs so probably stupid wishful thinking.

Looking forward to a huge vegetable bake for dinner tonight with either some left over roast beef or some cod.

Have a good day everyone.

Supergirl1958 · 14/04/2021 11:30

Thankyou for making me feel so welcome :). Yes that’s what acronym means :) thankyou, I feel so silly for asking as now you have explained it makes so much sense. I will post my stats on Monday but for now I will follow. I think I have about 5-6 stone to lose, but need to make myself accountable.

Hope you aren’t beating yourself up too much about the scones best of luck x

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 14/04/2021 11:37

Thank you. I've joined Biwi's low carb boot camp this week to change things up a bit and have definately seen a reduction on the scales.

It's a bit of a brain twister as I've been so focused on calories for months and boot camp is a different mindset, more about the reduction of carbs and massively increasing fat intake as well as just huge amounts of water. Not supposed to count calories at all, I'm still tracking in MFP as I think that works for me but trying not to care if I go over as long as I know I've stuck to the low carb, high fat rules.

Today I've had full fat real Greek yoghurt for breakfast, a cup of coffee made with double cream and lunch is bolognaise soup (bbc recipe and exactly like it sounds, bolognaise but thinner and more soupy). Have to squeeze 3 lts of water into me too so increasing my steps by visiting the toilet 200 times a day.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 14/04/2021 11:39

Oh and welcome @Supergirl1958 and good luck, shout if you have any questions we're a nice bunch here!

Crazzzycat · 14/04/2021 12:19

Welcome Supergirl! Sharing stats is optional. I have yet to disclose mine, in spite of being on this thread from the start of the month 🙈

SunshineCake is it possible your weight is going up BECAUSE of the exercise? Back in the day when I would weigh myself religiously, I’d often find that my weight was higher the day after intensive exercise. It’d all be gone after another 24 hrs, but there was a clear pattern of temporary increases for me. It’s one of the many reasons I’ve hidden the bathroom scales for now!

Arbadacarba · 14/04/2021 12:26

Welcome, @Supergirl1958.

If you don't want to post your full stats you could just post your losses when you start weighing in - for me, that's the most motivating thing about joining a thread, reading everyone's successes but also having people who understand if you have a bad week and don't lose.

Supergirl1958 · 14/04/2021 12:53

@Arbadacarba @Crazzzycat @HalfShrunkMoreToGo @SunshineCake

And anyone else I may have missed! Thankyou all so much. I don’t mind sharing my stats I promise, but with my weekend out etc I want the full picture on Monday...I’ll be back to work after 2 and a bit weeks off for Easter hols and into a full on intense term of teaching..so I need to be organised :).

Thankyou for helping me to feel welcome, I’m going to sit and plan for next week tonight...whilst watching Masterchef ❤️😂

CocoaMojo · 14/04/2021 13:09

Waves nervously... hello please can I join in?! I am looking for some motivation and accountability to start losing some weight...this thread/group seems like a nice place to start?!
I am the heaviest I have ever been (apart from, presumably, when I was pregnant but I didn't weigh myself then Grin)
I would like to lose about 2 stone but that seems incredibly scary right now so think I will try to break it down into more manageable goals... the first being to try to get into the 11 st bracket rather than 12 st bracket Blush
My weaknesses are wine, picking at the kids leftovers, anything sweet, and having a DH who is a bit veg-phobic and would live off burger and chips/freezer junk if he could... so I am always on the look out for tasty recipes he will actually eat or that I can swap bits out for more veg!
Anyway...hello!

jannyapple · 14/04/2021 13:50

Hello @CocoaMojo and @Supergirl1958 pleased you found the thread - super friendly and no judgement!

Marbsyearofhealth · 14/04/2021 14:16

Hi everyone how are you getting on this week? I have weighed in after my first fortnight and I am down 3lbs which has really helped me keep going.

Puffalicious · 14/04/2021 14:24

Brilliant losses HalfShrunk Marbs
132 and anyone else i missed. Sunshine you KNOW it's a blip and a very small one at that- stay positive.

Welcome Supergirl and Cocoamojo lovely to see you. We're all here for the duration- share as much or as little as you like.

Weight in day tomorrow for me. Very interesting HalfShrunk about the Higher fat, worth considering as I try and break into the final stone.

SunshineCake · 14/04/2021 16:32

I don't know @Crazzzycat. I have only weighed once a week for the last four, before that I would weigh after every run and I changed my pattern of running so tricky to work out. Occasionally I will randomly drop a couple of pounds after one run. That happened last week. I weighed extra, it said I'd gone up a couple of pounds, I ran the next day or the day after and was down just over two.

I'm over my strop now Grin and I'll carry in with once a week weighing as I think someone said that was a real weight as opposed to daily fluctuations. I happily miss out on bonus losses to lose the sad increases.

@Supergirl1958 it was a long time before I posted my stats and I wasn't the biggest. I was just being daft and sulking at being the slowest loser. It wasn't even noted when I did post them so there is no judgement here. Post what you want when you want and we all have your back, and each other's.

Welcome @CocoaMojo. Sounds like our stats might be similar. I was 14 stone in October 2018 and lost 1.5 stone easily once I had my diagnosis. I then lost the same half a stone five or six times and am now working on losing the next for the third or fourth time Grin. Time for your dh to have a kick up the bum. As a husband and father he has a duty of care to you and the children to look after himself. Have this week as a freezer week where you eat all that you have with extra veg on the side and then sit and plan recipes together. Get the kids involved if they are big enough as they can be quite adventurous with spicy or flavoured food and definitely eat better when they have had involvement in the planning and prepping of the meals. Also, I think we all went through the finish the kids dinners so it wasn't wasted or because we were hungry and eating later. You are not a bin and wasting a few pennies worth of food is better than trying to burn pounds off..You've got this.

@Marbsyearofhealth. Well done on your loss. That is great Star.

Thanks @Puffalicious. I'm over my upset. Last week I was inspired to have Saturday as my last day of casual treat eating but it was actually Sunday but this week I will stop at Saturday and won't be buying anymore scones!!

Just prepped a lovely dish of veg to have for dinner.

ShakerMakerGirl · 14/04/2021 17:25

Hello everyone. Nervously waves! After saying I would start last week I then went into hiding and continued to have every excuse under the sun not to start Hmm. Thanks so much @132orbust for being being kind and checking up on me! Ive been up every hour with a 6 week old so I read through the thread and you are all so kind and its given me the kick up the bum I needed to start!

So Day 1
SW 231lbs
GW 175lbs

I've counted calories on MFP today and been on 2 walks with the pram and done 4.5miles.

132orbust · 14/04/2021 17:35
