5 stone to go

Droppingdown · 03/03/2021 15:05

It’s time I tackled the excess weight and got back to where I’m happy! I have set my initial goal at 12st, which is half a stone under the top healthy BMI for myself at 5”10 and will adjust accordingly once I’m there until I get to where I am happy
CW:17st 1.5lb
GW:12st
5st 1.5lb to go!

I’ve always been active, but the last year with a baby, toddler and working from home instead meant I wasn’t walking as much as I’d usually do, and my pre baby 4-5 gym classes a week haven’t been on since March. My youngest is no longer breastfeeding so it’s time I got myself back to a figure I feel happier with, and healthier to boot!
No set diet, just a case of 10,000 + steps a day, les mills on demand classes and spinning from home and stopping snacks, counting calories and plodding through the pounds.
I am posting here to keep myself accountable but if anyone wishes to join me in slimming down along the way you are very welcome Smile

@buckeejit I use this one,

  • 40g rolled oats (or quinoa or buckwheat flakes)
  • 1/2 a ripe banana, mashed
  • 120ml of your favourite milk (or mylk)
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder *Blend
  • Fruit/berries/chocolate/nuts/vanilla
  • Bake for 25 on 180, I use a few sprays of one cal spray in an individual pie dish. Have been adding 1tsp cocoa and 1tsp vanilla, and topping with two broken Oreos. Then after the oven 20g of m&s cookie and cream spread. Had the same this morning and was lovely again!

Enjoy the wine, I rarely drink as once I start I can’t moderate. Hope you have a fab roast today! Sounds lovely.

@LottyNotty welcome! Well done for starting again, at least doing it in lockdown 1 you know you can and what works for you.

Have added a photo of breakfast just as it was so wonderful.

Obviously my photo didn’t add! Oops. Have tried again. Sounds like a great week @SmednotaSmoo, well done!

@Droppingdown omg that looks amazing - is that your baked oats? Yum.

Hello @LottyNotty & welcome. I did the same losing well last year & then regaining with interest. It's so annoying isn't it?

@SmednotaSmoo massive well done, that's great!

I've gone to pot today, over eating & drinking so tomorrow's weigh in perhaps isn't looking so good. Back to logging food from tomorrow & being stricter. Dh birthday at end of the month & really want another 5lb off ASAP! I'm clearly unable to moderate My wine intake-only been back on the booze for 2 weeks!

LottyNotty · 22/03/2021 06:16

Thanks all,

@Droppingdown that looks amazing, I can't believe it's mostly oats!
@SmednotaSmoo 2kg in 6 days is such a good start, and so motivating for you.
@buckeejit - yes, it's so upsetting to know that we did it and then let it slide.

What approach are you all taking? I am trying to have less carbs, mfp, get my water in each day, and do intermittent fasting, as this has worked for me before. I am usually an obsessive daily-weigher, but this time I'm going to try to only weigh once a week on a Sunday.

SmednotaSmoo · 22/03/2021 09:27

Ok, the 7 day verdict is -1.9kg, and yesterday involved pizza so not too surprised.

I’m: cutting out lots of carbs. Having spinach and poached eggs and avocado for lunch rather than a sandwich; replacing rice and pasta for more veg at mealtimes and having small potatoes. Cutting out snacks nearly all the time. Yoghurt for breakfast.

My biggest drawback has always been I like to bake (bread, cake, scones, pastry stuff etc) and then I like to eat it. And I also can inhale chocolate when stressed. Really trying hard not to fall into that trap...

Forgot to weigh yesterday, but 16st 6.1 today. -4lb on last Monday.
That’s great @SmednotaSmoo!

@LottyNotty just trying to keep calories in around 12-1500 and more exercise for me, nothing too drastic

Well done, living up to your name @Droppingdown.

PMT monster struck yesterday and I went a bit nuts compared to last week’s rigidity. It’s so easy to self medicate despair with food but it doesn’t help. But little by little. If I weighed 100g less a day, by the end of the year there would be 30kgs less of me. (I think! Check my maths).

Droppingdown · 23/03/2021 12:57

@SmednotaSmoo it’s easily done, just draw a line under it, like I said earlier in the thread a bad day doesn’t need to be a bad week! We are all human and have harder days.
The 100g a day theory is great. What a difference over a year!
Dogs taken for a brisk walk this morning, half an hour spin done and now starving despite just eating a mountain of aubergine curry.

Well done everyone! Fantastic!

I'm doing slimming world, Lotty. And I've put my scales in a different room so I don't weigh every day.

I lost about 2lb this week. I think I'm 16 stone, now- 102.7kg. I've lost 3 stone so far.

Baked oats are good- I've not tried with cocoa or banana.
I like the oat pancakes. 40g oats, 2 eggs, baking powder and Greek yogurt. Blended.

Tonight we had pasta and cauliflower in cheese sauce, with salmon.

Timetobuckup · 26/03/2021 23:55

Hi, I have over 4 stone to lose and would love some company. K

I have been looking at keto but I'm not sure how sustainable it is.

Will have a read through but I really think the time has come to sort myself out !

SmednotaSmoo · 27/03/2021 01:42

Hi @Timetobuckup :)

Had two days where the lure of the sweet stuff and freshly baked bread got to me. Back on the wagon today.

picklemewalnuts · 27/03/2021 15:20

Hello, Buckup!

I'm plodding away. Got my 3 stone award this week, which I'd celebrate more if I didn't have another 4 to go!

I made a nice pudding, cheesecake, with cottage cheese and sugar free jelly. I think it's better as a mousse than a jelly though, so will make it in glasses next time, with a biscuit stuck in the top!

SmednotaSmoo · 28/03/2021 10:48

Woohoo @picklemewalnuts! That’s a good chunk gone.

picklemewalnuts · 28/03/2021 12:57

Almost halfway- which actually is really impressive.

picklemewalnuts · 28/03/2021 13:17

What I mean is, I never expected to get this far!

Timetobuckup · 28/03/2021 18:01

Wow! 3 stone off is amazing, that would make me very happy indeed.

I have been meal planning and making shopping lists today, need to get myself organised and I do love a list !

SmednotaSmoo · 28/03/2021 18:37

Today has been a making chocolate cake and home made custard and crumble day today. Everyone’s feeling ill and I’ve got period pain too. Still, tomorrow is a new week...

picklemewalnuts · 28/03/2021 19:10

Well done, Time!

Some days are like that, smed. You have to be kind to yourself as well as keeping up the healthy eating. You can't keep up the momentum if you are fed up to the back teeth!

I've made rice pudding today. Pudding rice is free, and milk comes from my allowance. I don't sweeten it. I'll either have it plain or with a squirt of cinnamon freedom shot syrup. Comfort food without too high a cost!

SmednotaSmoo · 28/03/2021 19:46

My kids hate it but a bit of Orange rind in a baked rice pudding is lovely. I just peel a little off with a peeler and then take it out at the end. And cinnamon also good...

picklemewalnuts · 28/03/2021 20:01

Mmm. I put all spice and a pinch of salt in mine. I'll try the orange peel next time.

I've got lemon peel in a brine I'm marinading a cheap beef roast for next weekend. I'm hoping it will give me tender juicy meat, despite being a cheap cut. I often save the peel of lemons and oranges in the freezer, for whatever comes up!

Droppingdown · 29/03/2021 09:13

Sounds some great ideas here!
I didn’t get any notifications through so missed them, hope everyone had a good weekend 😊
A less good week here for me, just under a pound down, so 16st 5.2lb this morning.
Here’s to a better week this week!

OP posts:
Droppingdown · 23/06/2021 18:00

Well, I went off track a bit and gained a bit back, but back onwards & upwards (well downwards!) 16st 3.3lb today after a tight week of logging, Exercise increased and healthier food choices. Hope everyone else is doing okay, I see it’s all gone quiet! I’ll keep posting anyway to keep myself accountable 😬❤️

OP posts:
Droppingdown · 25/06/2021 21:01

16st 1.6lb today, hoping to break into the 15’s by the end of next week 🤞🤞 just need to navigate TOTM starting in the next day or two and stay strong rather than reaching for extra snacks I don’t need. Hoping to get lots of walking in over the weekend with the kids/dogs to try and assist the loss/at least burn off the extra snacks if I don’t stay strong. X

Came across this thread and wondered how everyone is doing, I’ve got 5st to lose, currently I have decided to initially cut all the crap out, crisps choc etc, and make better choices but have had so many false starts I’ve lost hope! Hoping you can share your tips
