5 stone to go

Droppingdown · 03/03/2021 15:05

It’s time I tackled the excess weight and got back to where I’m happy! I have set my initial goal at 12st, which is half a stone under the top healthy BMI for myself at 5”10 and will adjust accordingly once I’m there until I get to where I am happy
CW:17st 1.5lb
GW:12st
5st 1.5lb to go!

I’ve always been active, but the last year with a baby, toddler and working from home instead meant I wasn’t walking as much as I’d usually do, and my pre baby 4-5 gym classes a week haven’t been on since March. My youngest is no longer breastfeeding so it’s time I got myself back to a figure I feel happier with, and healthier to boot!
No set diet, just a case of 10,000 + steps a day, les mills on demand classes and spinning from home and stopping snacks, counting calories and plodding through the pounds.
I am posting here to keep myself accountable but if anyone wishes to join me in slimming down along the way you are very welcome Smile

Well done on the treadmill @Aria2015. Hope you feel good for doing it.
Just back from my morning nursery run & dog walk, easy way to get three miles and a decent hill in before work. Now to coax myself onto a spin class.
Yesterday wasn’t an amazing day food wise, whilst I don’t think I ate enough to gain I definitely wasn’t cutting any out.
But today is a new day, and I don’t need to turn a bad day into a bad week 🙂

Everyone is doing well!
Food wise I’ve not faltered at all but finding I’m hungry!
Please give me some feedback.
B-50g no salt sugar muesli with S/S milk
L- wholmeal pitta with boiled egg and salad, fruit with a dollop of organic Greek yogurt
D-chicken breast with a mixture of veg with either new 150g new potatoes or a small portion of brown rice.

A few cups of tea with semi skimmed milk throughout the day. Average calories 1400.
Getting over 12K steps a day though.

picklemewalnuts · 10/03/2021 07:33

I'd suggest a protein breakfast rather than carbs- and generally more protein. Two eggs rather than one at lunch time.
Swap muesli for a chunk of cheese, 0% fat Greek yogurt and fruit. You'll feel less hungry with less carbs and more protein.

Slimming world gives you a chunk of cheese and a glass of milk every day for calcium.

I find that I'm less hungry if I don't eat carbs at all. So a weekend cooked breakfast- low fat sausage, bacon medallion, egg. Mushrooms tomatoes- lasts ages before I'm hungry. Have toast with it and I'm hungry again at lunch time.

Imkindreally · 10/03/2021 21:20

I made myself a promise I wouldn’t weigh in until Saturday... and it’s driving me mad. I’ve made peace with the fact I’ll likely have gained purely from rehydrating myself. I have huge sensory issues and so spend all my time dehydrated to avoid the loo Blush I’ve been drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day since Monday which I’m proud of

Droppingdown · 11/03/2021 02:47

@Imkindreally just think how much good you are doing your body though! Well done.
Admire you waiting until Saturday too-I skipped a day yesterday and was twitching.

@Rallyaround looks good to me, I’m a firm believer of having what you want if it fits in your count. Feels less of a strain to me

picklemewalnuts · 11/03/2021 07:34

Well done, I'mkind. It's very helpful to be drinking plenty. I got bad constipation from accidentally getting dehydrated. It still hurts two weeks later Sad

I do weigh every day. I couldn't live with the uncertainty otherwise! I seem to be pottering along at a lb a week. I'm never hungry though- well, only in passing or when it's nearly meal time. It's more that I crave the junk sometimes- crisps, chocolate bars etc- and sometimes I wobble and give in.

buckeejit · 11/03/2021 21:06

I'm also better without many carbs when I'd've had carbs at every meal & snack before! I've had some rice every day for the last 5 days though.

I make full fat Greek yogurt & love it but might try a full fat/semi skimmed mix next time, the ff stuff is filling though & im not hungry.

@Imkindreally that is great about your water intake/I've let mine slip lately but find taking supplement tablets In the mornings-vit d, magnesium & vit c, makes me down an extra pint!

It's so hard a habit to break checking the scales. I try to remember that unless I think I've lost many stones in a couple of days there's no point as I've a long way to go before I can relax!

picklemewalnuts · 12/03/2021 14:02

My weight loss has slowed right down. I don't know whether to wait a couple of weeks in case it's just lagging, or go full on for a few days to kick start it.

Imkindreally · 13/03/2021 10:45

Weigh day update

Mon 8th 227lb
Sat 13th 233.5lb

Droppingdown · 13/03/2021 11:09

@picklemewalnuts if you know you are eating less than expending give it a bit of time to catch up, always seems to go in waves.

Admiration for those cutting carbs, I couldn’t do it!

Morning all.
16st 10.1lb for me today.
4st 10.1lb to go!
Not dropped since Friday but expecting a stagnant few days/week courtesy of AF due.
Hope you’ve all had a good weekend!

picklemewalnuts · 15/03/2021 07:12

Morning Dropping! I'm going to start weighing twice a week, Saturday and Tuesday. I think I'm at that slow spot where seeing the scales hover every day is undermining! 🤣

Imkindreally · 15/03/2021 08:24

I’ve realised mine says 233and it’s 223 Grin I lost! I lost Grin

picklemewalnuts · 15/03/2021 09:41

Oh, well done!

Droppingdown · 15/03/2021 19:29

@picklemewalnuts good luck! I just can’t do it! I try to skip a day but it’s like I need to know. Hopefully things move again for you!

@Imkindreally that’s great news! I hoped it was a typo but didn’t want to ask Grin

OP posts:
picklemewalnuts · 15/03/2021 20:50

Yep, and I failed first time out! I was on the scales before I remembered!
Still tomorrow is official weigh day. Then I'll put them away until Saturday. If I move them, I'll realise!

buckeejit · 15/03/2021 21:04

I've 2.5lb off today, woo hoo!

Re the scales, I ended up buying new scales as my old ones didn't show 0.5lb, just full lb. The new ones are renpho bluetooth linked to fitbit & show 0.1lb variation, which is a bit much & I don't want my weight logged each time. Also it just shows lbs not stones and lbs so needs brainwork which I'm lacking in the mornings! Anyway, this is a roundabout way of saying my weighing is less now that my normal scales are downstairs. They're still in the hall so I still step on if I'm close.

I'm considering putting the scales in a cupboard and only getting them out weekly, or in the long term probably monthly. The adult part of my brain knows that I need to lose for a long time but the normal part, just wants the quick win!

picklemewalnuts · 18/03/2021 11:49

How's everyone doing? I'm feeling reasonably upbeat today. One lb at a time, it's coming off.

SmednotaSmoo · 18/03/2021 11:57

//waves// can I join?

Enough is enough, and I’ve started at 100kgs which is just too much, but makes it much easier to count %loss! I usually weigh in stones and pounds but obsess about “good” and “bad” so much.

I would like to lose 10kgs by my 40th birthday, which is 16 weeks away. I’d still be obese but a hell of a lot more clothes will fit and hopefully I’ll be able to look at my image on FaceTime/Teams.

picklemewalnuts · 18/03/2021 12:11

Hello Smed!

It's good to have a goal. Have you measured yourself? I find that reassuring, I measure again if I haven't lost weight one week, and have usually lost cm at least.

Droppingdown · 18/03/2021 13:03

@picklemewalnuts going well here Thankyou, seems to be moving down steadily. How’s your week?
Hiya @SmednotaSmoo! Sounds like you’ve got a goal in mind & something nice to work towards. Good luck and welcome aboard!

Just finished our lunch, feel like I need a nap now! With us both working from home we’ve been eating our main meal in the day whilst the children are at nursery. Today was a HelloFresh pork & black bean burritos with rice and an avocado salad and it was heavy going. Lovely though

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.
After a busy day and a night with little sleep I was craving something sweet this evening, decided to try jumping on the baked oats bandwagon and oh my. It was like eating cake straight from the oven. Felt like a real treat but far less unhealthy than the chocolate binge I was craving. 16st 7.2lb this morning so feeling optimistic for Monday being closer to 16st than 17st!

OP posts:
buckeejit · 20/03/2021 21:12

Mmmm, I'm still eating my delicious granola & will have to downgrade to baked oats when they're done-have you a recipe to share?

I'm back on the wine but had half a bottle on Paddy's day & the other half last night. On glass 1 now & will split between tonight & tomorrow. After a lax week last week, I've been mostly better this week but haven't logged any food & may have gone over calories. Will start logging again on Monday but still managing my 10k steps & eating lots of veg. Parents are coming for Sunday lunch tomorrow so roast beef & dessert & bakery buns all to be scoffed. Lord help us!

I go through periods of 'this isn't so awful' and then 'ffs, when will this boring healthy eating end?!' A lot of my clothes are now fitting better but I'm going to get rid of a lot if I don't love them as have too many & even having taken over a small spare room, there isn't enough space. I want to be a capsule wardrobe person but have always needed clothes in 3 sizes at least (not using the smaller sizes in ages).

Non scale victories / my bed that I'd previously broken Blush no longer creaks when I sit on the edge of it.

LottyNotty · 21/03/2021 09:11

Can I join you all too please?

After losing 21lbs during lockdown one, I have now not only regained it all, but an additional 3lbs as well. So disappointed in myself. But trying to pull my very big girl pants up and start again.

I have a similar starting weight to you @Droppingdown and I am also turning 40 soon @SmednotaSmoo, 13 weeks for me, so a good target date to at least shift some of it (again!)

Starting Weight: 17st 4lbs
First Goal: Under 16st
Ultimate Goal: Anything under 13st

SmednotaSmoo · 21/03/2021 09:39

I’ve been good all week and rarely snacked (and then only fruit). Six days on it looks like I’m down 2kg... hello @lottynotty, fellow 81-er!
