Any Team RH members on here?

Hi, I just signed up to team rh last night, biggest I've ever been and as a woman in her mid 40s I'm mindful of how unhealthy all this fat around my middle is!
Been thinking about team rh for a while, I like his no bullshit approach but appreciate it isn't for everyone. I can't do any eating plans where certain foods are banned so this seems great and the calories are generous too. Anyway if you're a member please let me know how you're getting on, I'm about to go out for my first walk!

I've gone back to team rh recently after another failed attempt at weight watchers. My diet isn't that bad and I don't have loads to lose so I can't lose weight with "free" foods. I'm slowly but steadily losing and it's actually sustainable!

I appreciate it's not for everyone but I'm another who can tune out the borderline abusive approach from the coaches. If anything I find it encouraging! I also know that it's mainly not aimed at me as I have a reasonable level of activity already.

They aim to teach you about nutrition, exercise and meal planning and if you actually do watch the videos on sign up (or just at your own pace), they do that really really well. Ideally you shouldn't have to renew your membership. It's a much better plan than following a low cal diet that results in you binging. I also LOVE that they get people into resistance training. Building muscle does mean slower weight loss but it HELPS with fat loss and it's a really healthy thing to do, for women in particular.

To be honest the basic premises of their method is what lots of other coaches do as well (but it doesn't sound like they apply them very well) but there are many more coaches out there who can give you proper support than just abuses and take your money at the same time.

I tried it for a while and it did work, but I got sick of weighing everything and forcing myself to eat more protein. Plus DH got fed up of me not getting home until 7 because I was doing my steps on the way home. I think it works best if you eat artificial food like protein shakes, and I couldn’t stand those.

Wait! What! They're going to drop me into enemy territory?!

Grin I wish it did that too!

Backs quietly away from redavocado, counting the steps as I go......

What is the premise of their system? I have toddler weight to lose. I'm not going to sign up as they sound like they are the opposite of supportive and the Tattle threads are illuminating! I've found the similar lack of empathy or understanding with other wellness/fitness influencers (although not the abuse...), they don't have normal jobs or working hours or commitments and can spend every hour or anytime they need for nutrition or exercise and it's part of their job. Then they tell you that if you can't make it work, you aren't trying hard enough. If I told work that I can't come in on time as I need to exercise, they'd laugh at me after asking me to reconsider my priorities! I bought an online health course and stupidly didn't get around to looking at it before the cooling off period ended, then found it was a complicated system that needed you to spend loads on gadgets that I had neither the time, money or headspace for.

End of the second week for me and I'm 7lbs down so far.

I'm consistently meeting the calorie and step numbers, now I'm going to start working towards the macros.

How's everyone else doing?

MisgenderedSwan · 21/03/2021 09:48

I'm 3 and 1/2 weeks in and 10lbs down! I'm amazed! Also feeling much better and healthier. I'm making better food choices but don't feel particularly limited. Even counted my wine calories last night and factored them in and woke up with a loss this morning (I know they say not to have alcohol but it was a glass online with friends). Instead of eating a family bag of crisps for supper I have a protein yoghurt with fruit or cereal. Regularly hitting 15000 steps but just dropped my workouts to 3 a week as it was just too much to fit in with work and dc.

Fiftysixthnamechange · 21/03/2021 13:53

5.5 pounds down now in a little over 3 weeks, dropped down to 0 workouts as work is insane at the moment but managing my 15000 steps everyday easily enough. Hitting my water and fibre targets too but still not my protein! Edging closer though so I'm hopeful I'll crack it this week! Eaten so much lovely food over the weekend and still lost, I'm loving it.

Good luck for the week ahead!

redavocado · 23/03/2021 06:39

Sounds like everyone's doing really well!!

I got a barbell a few weeks ago and my weight loss has really stalled since then. I know it's part of the process and I need to be patient but it's frustrating when I'm consistently hitting all my goals! I do feel fitter and healthier so fingers crossed the scale starts going down again soon. Smile
