@FatCatThinCat a loss is a loss. And I'm very impressed that you can leave half a stollen in the cupboard from one weekend to the next.

Another good loss, @WobbleWhenIRun. I'm completely with you on not being able to buy tempting things and have them in the cupboard. It makes me sad, but I think my shopping rules (no multipacks of crisps, no whole cakes, no family packs of chocolate bars, no packets of chocolate biscuits etc) are going to have to be for life. I can't see any other way to keep the weight off.

And it's not just any old stollen. It's an authentic butter stollen (no marzipan) all the way from Germany. I can't stand marzipan and therefore hated stollen. My German friend was most offended and assured me that proper stollen doesn't have marzipan and is delicious. I didn't believe her so she sent me one to prove it. And now I'm happy to admit I was wrong as the stollen she sends is the nicest Christmassy treat I've ever had. Thankfully she sends me one every year now. I may have released custody of my chocolate hoard to my family but they're not getting near my stollen.

@WobbleWhenIRun our eating issues sound so similar. My mum was a secret eater. We all knew, of course, but we pretended not to. She'd eat in the kitchen in the evenings, and we stayed away. By my early teens I was sneaking food to my bedroom and eating it there, and enjoying it much more than eating in company. It took me quite some time to learn to feel comfortable eating with other people, and even longer to start enjoying it. These days I do like eating in company, but not as much as eating on my own. And like you I've been doing the extended periods of dieting followed by periods of uncontrollable eating, for decades in my case.

Your stollen sounds wonderful @FatCatThinCat. Definitely not for sharing. Grin

115.7 kg for me today. That's a 1.4 kg loss. Very happy with that as I had a bad day one day after a bad nights sleep. I'll be enjoying the rest of my stollen later!

WobblyWhenIRun · 24/01/2021 11:39

Week 36

Start weight: 276.8lbs
Current weight: 217.4lbs
Weight change over last week: Nothing!!
Total weight lost: 59.4lbs

Firstly, it's me - WobbleWhenIRun. I had an issue with my account so have had to register a new name. I am now Wobbly Grin

Second - no weight loss for me this week. Not even a tiny bit :( I have eaten to plan so it's not that. I guess I'll just chalk this one up to the diet gremlins and press on, in hope, next week.

Well done @FatCatThinCat - you were owed that weight loss, having had it [ahem] 'stollen' from you last week.

I'm here all week, folks! Grin

Try not to be disheartened Wobble. Sometimes the scales just have to show their evil side. They'll get over by next week.

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin I can't top that, but well done @FatCatThinCat on a terrific result this week. Enjoy the rest of your stollen. @WobblyWhenIRun I think you're right about the diet gremlins - if you've been on plan it'll right itself and you'll have a big loss to post next week.

I have a NSV to report. It's very cold here at the moment, and this morning I was moved to try on my size 12 coat that I'd thought I'd never be able to wear again. It fitted - loose, in fact, over two jumpers. I think it's probably cut on the generous side for the size, but last time I tried it on back in October I think, it was tight over a t-shirt.

FatCatThinCat · 30/01/2021 08:38

114.9 kg today. That's a 0.8 kg loss for me.

morningtoncrescent62 · 30/01/2021 22:09

Congratulations @FatCatThinCat. Did you finish your stollen last weekend? Or do you have more to look forward to?

FatCatThinCat · 31/01/2021 10:21

No, I finished it yesterday. So now I'm torn between being sad it's all gone and glad it's all gone.

morningtoncrescent62 · 31/01/2021 15:07

GOAL!!!!!!! It's a 9lb loss for me this month - I know the first few pounds are due to losing the post-festive water-retaining bloat, but I'm delighted all the same, especially because I wasn't fully back on weight loss plan until the second week of January.

This means I'm 10 stone 6, which is near the top of my goal-for-life weight range of 10 stone-10 stone 7. And it's just about inside the healthy BMI weight range for my height, at 24.9.

My intention for the foreseeable future is to keep going with monthly-weigh-ins, last day of the month. Whenever I get to the top of my goal range, or exceed it, I'll spend a few weeks back on weight loss plan to get back down to the lower end of the range. In that spirit, I'm going to stay on weight loss plan for February rather than go straight onto maintenance plan right now.

I'm well chuffed but also nervous because I've been here before, many times, in my yo-yo food-addicted life.

FatCatThinCat · 31/01/2021 21:05

Fantastic news Mornington. No wonder you're happy. Well done.

WobblyWhenIRun · 05/02/2021 20:17

GOAL!!!!!!!

Flipping hell - that's really marvellous @morningtoncrescent62. Well done on getting there.

I will be watching with real interest as you transition into maintenance to stay there. I really hope (and believe) you'll do it, so I intend to learn and steal all your tips.

114.5 kg today so a 0.4 kg loss. A bit disappointing seeing as I've been really good this week. But still, it's a loss so I'm going in the right direction.

FatCatThinCat · 13/02/2021 08:28

Am I the last one standing on this thread?

113.8 kg today so a loss of 0.7 kg. Very pleased with that after a difficult week.

I hope everyone is doing well even if not posting anymore.

morningtoncrescent62 · 13/02/2021 12:23

I'm still here @FatCatThinCat! And congratulations on this week's loss. Hope others are managing to clamber back on the wagon after Christmas and New Year - always a difficult time.

FatCatThinCat · 20/02/2021 09:08

0.2 kg gain for me this week. :(

morningtoncrescent62 · 20/02/2021 11:49

Sorry to hear that @FatCatThinCat. Were you anticipating that? Or is it just one of those things, bodies being a bit idiosyncratic.

FatCatThinCat · 20/02/2021 12:05

I'd had a bad week sleep wise which means I have less control over my eating. Then yesterday DS was up at the crack of dawn, shouting his head off gaming and pretending he's one of these shouty youtubers. So yesterday was an awful day, eating biscoff and nutella straight out of the jar. So the gain was expected but still depressing. Next week will be better!

morningtoncrescent62 · 20/02/2021 19:00

Sorry to hear about your bad week. If yesterday was a biscoff and Nutella day it's quite possible that your gain is water retention and will come straight back off again with a day back on the wagon.

I wonder how @WobblyWhenIRun is getting on. I miss her.

WobblyWhenIRun · 20/02/2021 19:23

I'm here fellow fatters!

I thought it had all gone dark on this thread so checked less and less, but I am here. Thanks for tagging me back in mornington

Last week's results were...
Start weight: 276.8lbs
Current weight: 215.3lbs
Total weight lost: 61.5lbs

The loss rate has really slowed up after Christmas, though. I was starting to get a bit scale obsessed so have decided to try and cut back on weighing myself all the time so the next weigh-in will be at the end of the month. It was just getting me down see all the 0.1 up, 0.2 down, 0.1 up etc.

In a NSV I had a run around the village during the week. This was my first public run as normally I run at 6.30am in the dark, lonely woods with the dog. This was the first time I have felt ok in running gear to go around the streets in the village. I even ran past the bin men and didn't feel a bit silly Grin

Sorry to hear you've had a disappointing week, fatcat. Lack of sleep is the biggest thing that will push me to eat, too.

Here's to a new week...

FatCatThinCat · 20/02/2021 20:10

It does seem to be much harder to lose weight after Christmas. I think we all need some sunshine.

ShopoholicIn · 23/02/2021 13:57
