I gave birth to my son at the end of October and, now the festive cheeseboard has been polished off, I'm feeling ready to fit back into my pre-pregnancy clothes!

Goal weight is 60kgs and current weight is 64.7kgs. However, as muscle weighs considerably more than fat I know realistically I have more than 4.7kgs to lose.

Plan is to stick to a 1,700 calorie a day diet as I am breastfeeding so don't want to end up with too few calories. I will also be going to the gym 3-4x per week - I am not in the UK so feel very fortunate to be able to do this.

Creating this thread for accountability (for me) and also to see if anyone is in a similar position.

I made it to the gym today for the first time since Friday so feeling good. Currently making a turkey mince bolognese for dinner this evening and have grated in loads of extra veggies. I'm tempted to turn it into lasagne but go easy on the cheese. Bloody love lasagne!

Hi @Tier500, congrats on your little one!

I’ve also gained a bit I think and I’m very far off my target. I had a sore throat (not Covid!) so I have definitely eaten a bit too much ice cream to help soothe it Blush I haven’t eaten excessively today but will be back on track tomorrow counting calories and making sure I actually move a bit more.

The lasagne sounds like a great idea, Well done for making it to the gym, I’m really missing not being able to go.

Well I weighed myself this morning and I’m at 69.2 without having done anything 🤣. I’d love to do some proper exercise - jealous of your gym going @Sairafina! I’ve got my 2 year old as well as the baby so fitting in stuff just for me is hard. I might try to go for a morning run in the next couple of weeks if I can persuade DH to take them both together.

We are both massively comfort eating atm as it’s one of the main ways to relieve boredom and treat ourselves in lockdown! Any suggestions of healthier treats welcome!

My arthritis has started again so I'm yet again comfort eating. Fixed the pram puncture and went for a two hour walk in the woods behind us though, through four inches of snow, lots of deep puddles and dragging it/her through some impressive mud. Was lovely being out. Did get a call from my gp saying I need my thyroid checking so bloods tomorrow

Mind If i join? :)
OP, i had my daughter end of October too! She is my second.
I piled on the pounds throughout lock down! I had painful hips and I was eating like crazy! Probably through the stress of it all. I'm normally around 63.. ideally I want to be 60. Right now I'm at 69!! But after i had her i was 82 so alot has come off already! I was like you I really started focusing on it January 1st and I've lost about 10lbs since then.
I refuse to buy more Jeans! I will fit back into mine!
I am also breastfeeding. I really haven't been calorie counting.. I should I know. I get a bit obsessed with it, I had an ED as a teen and I dont know if it's good for me. But I'm definitely a little eating too much still. How has 1700 calories worked for you?
I have been working out using Nike training apps almost every day. I feel like that's working!

@micc we sound really similar on current weight, target weight, and babies! Mine was born early Nov, baby 2, I’m 69kg and aiming for 60. I haven’t actually taken any steps to rectify this yet but today is the day! Also bf. I was eating a massive bowl of porridge every day as oats are good for milk supply but now swapping to Greek yoghurt with some nut butter as I know that carbs in the morning are terrible for me and weight gain. Will also cut out my afternoon cake this week and see if I can fit in a run or 2.

Sairafina · 12/02/2021 12:27

All weights and measures the same for me today which I can hardly be surprised about when diet has gone out of the window this week! Sometimes breastfeeding makes me ravenous and no amount of chopped veggies will scratch the itch in the same way a bar of dairy milk will 😂
Welcome along @micc and congrats on your DD! I haven't been as religious with my calorie counting as I know roughly how much is in what I eat and I try to only eat my calories so have black coffee, la croix and water for my fluids.
Off to the gym this morning for a leg session - wish me luck!
