That’s good to know ItWastheBest. I’ve been feeling so hungry these past few days, but prob haven’t been drinking as much. How long do you plan to keep going for? I’m into week 2 now.

ItWasTheBestOfTimes · 18/06/2020 20:46

First goal is to do 12 weeks TFR, then probably drop to 2 packs and a 200cal low carb meal for another 8. Hopefully I’m at goal then, whSt about you?

AnastasiaKrupnick · 18/06/2020 22:51

I started thinking I’d just try one week to kick start things — thinking it was going to be much harder than it is. Almost can’t believe I’ve done it. Now I’m tentatively planning 8 weeks and then drop to 2 packs and a meal. But I’m still sort of expecting my resolve to crack so feel nervous about setting goals. If I can convince myself not to notice I’m doing it then I can’t self-sabotage. How do you keep your motivation?

ItWasTheBestOfTimes · 19/06/2020 07:55

I’ve done this before pre DC and maintained until pregnant with DC1. I’ve needed to lose the weight I gained over 2 pregnancies and 2 lots of maternity leave, DC2 is 12 months and I’ve started so many times and given up in the first few days. This time I just knew that i was in the right place mindset wise and I wanted to lose weight more than I wanted food. Now I’ve done almost 4 weeks it’s easier to keep going than to have a cheat meal etc as I know from experience that once you’ve eaten carbs it’s difficult to stop it becoming a full on binge and difficult to get back on it straight away.

Suzysuz · 20/06/2020 09:28

First day for me! I'm feeling in a better headspace and really wanting to lose weight and not eat that biscuit whereas I had been in the 'I want to lose weight' said whilst eating that biscuit Smile

Had the vanilla shake this morning, defo needs to be cold and is kept the water in fridge plus ice.

I'm doing meal replacements for breakfast and lunch and a low cal low carb dinner, will see how I go, know it won't be as fast as just the meal replacements but that's fine.

Had a look at the exante Facebook groups but it's a bit like the AIBU board on there!

Skyfatlass · 22/06/2020 07:27

Had my first weigh in and I’ve lost 5lb so not awful but I really think I’m not drinking enough water so going to try and up that this week. How’s everyone getting on?

ItWasTheBestOfTimes · 22/06/2020 07:56

Yeah good thanks. Have you tried adding flavdrops to water? I don’t like the taste of water without flavouring and whilst the water flavourings are nice they work out quite expensive. Flavdrops are nice and last a lot longer as you only need about 10 drops to flavour a whole litre.

Suzysuz · 22/06/2020 08:15

Day one my stomach was not happy and quite a few toilet ventures Blush the milkshake went down okay but the bar made me a bit icky....

Drinking lots and I use a soda stream for fizzy tap water which helps and drinking a pint water with each meal

Day two I had mega hot flushes! I thought I it might be the menopause or something! Nausea and foggy head too, so think that's all part of carb detox

So far today am feeling better, head okay and tum doing okay so far Smile

Skyfatlass · 22/06/2020 09:34

I’ve it done water enhancer from exsnte which is really nice @ItWasTheBestOfTimes but it’s more that I just keep forgetting to drink, Confused maybe I need to put a reminder into my phone.
Well done for getting through the weekend @Suzysuz! Fingers crossed you’re through the worst of it now.

AnastasiaKrupnick · 23/06/2020 11:14

Hi everyone, end of week 2 here and I’m kind of freestyling a bit. 2 days last week I replaced a shake with a healthy (ish) meal. Otherwise not snacking but drinking tea and coffee with semi-skimmed milk and probably not drinking enough water. Weighed this morning and no loss for the week — weird. My body just wants to hold onto the weight! Or else I confused it with the meals? Anyway, just trying to stick with it and see if it shifts eventually. When I did slimming world I’d often only lose every other week too. Finding it very hard to avoid the odd meal because the kids are now asking questions about why I’m skulking in the kitchen.

Well done on the loss @Skyfatlass, great start @Suzysuz and @ItWasTheBestOfTimes I’m totally in awe that you’ve kept it up so well. @Bubblemonkey I hope you’ll stick with us — it’s still a big thing to do the 2 packs + meal.

Bubblemonkey · 23/06/2020 12:42

I’ve fallen off the wagon but somethings clicked this morning. Did a lemon cheesecake shake which was pretty grim this morning.

AnastasiaKrupnick · 23/06/2020 14:35

Next order I’m just going to get a load of vanilla shakes — they’re never going to taste good, so may as well for for the plainest possible option. Good luck @Bubblemonkey it’s all about what’s happening in your head

Suzysuz · 23/06/2020 16:53

I didn't mind the vanilla shakes Blush I think I have really low expectations which has helped Grin
However I let myself look forward to the maple pecan flapjack one, I did not like that.... managed to eat most with a cuppa but it was not nice....
I warmed the double choc bar up today, that was quite nice.

Is anyone doing anything fancy with their packs? I can see people making all sorts on Instagram etc with them, I'm not quite motivated to do that (unless it's really easy!) plus just trying to keep it basic and simple right now.

AnastasiaKrupnick · 23/06/2020 18:20

I meant to say the vanilla are my favourite — I don’t find them completely vile like some of the fancier ones. Vanilla, banana, strawberry all ok in my book.

Have never even thought of gussying up the packs! My mind has just been blown by the idea of heating up the bars!!! Tend to just think of the shakes as fuel. Tbh I quite like not having to bother with food.

Suzysuz · 23/06/2020 19:04

Same here Smile but putting the double choc bar in microwave for about 15 secs made it a little warm and I quite liked it.

There's a lady called kates.losing.it on Instagram who has lost loads of weight on exante and she does different types of recipes with the packs, not for me right now but maybe in future....

Skyfatlass · 24/06/2020 10:06

The chocolate shakes are my favourite and I’m liking the cereal bars but not the stodgy bars, I can’t handle the texture. Good tip to look into how to use the packets in different ways though!
I’m having a good week so far, the good thing about this heat is I just don’t want to eat a lot anyhow.
How are you doing @Bubblemonkey?

Suzysuz · 25/06/2020 08:46

Wow it's hot ā˜€ļøā˜€ļøā˜€ļøā˜€ļø
I've seen people freezing the shakes
into ice lollies Smile

Skyfatlass · 28/06/2020 09:32

I’m so glad the heat wave is over!
How’s everyone getting on?
I did a sneaking weigh in today and have lost another 5lbs! So I’m cuffed with that!
I weighed myself a day early however as I’ve got to go have a bbq at family members today for their birthday so I’m going to try and low carb as much as possible but I can’t promise anything but I’ll be straight back on the diet tomorrow! Just can’t let family know I’m dieting as every time I tell them I’m trying to loose weight they go on and on about it and I can’t be bothered with it, I seem to do much better when no one in real life knows, so I’m just going to keep quiet for now.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

MortyFide · 28/06/2020 09:45

Can I drop in? I'm just at the end of week 5 - Iost 10 lbs in week 1, virtually nothing for 2 weeks, then 5 lbs over the last 2! So roughly a stone in a month. I have a BMI of 36 and 5 stone to lose.

I'm generally (subject to variation) doing 2 packs a day plus milk and sweetener in tea, the odd light babybel, no sugar squash in my water, and I eat a 400 cal meal (usually just a couple of chicken breasts). So I'm averaging 800-1000 cals a day, although my dog walks give me 150-200 cals daily so I may be netting 800 or below.

It's given me the shits and constipation in equal measure, but once the cravings fall away and your body gets used to the weird delivery of fibre it gets easier. When I plateaued for 2+ weeks, I had a roast dinner and some chocolate one Sunday, and the losses started again after that!

I'm also perimenopausal and taking HRT, which presumably makes some difference.

MortyFide · 28/06/2020 09:47

Oh, and a PP was right about the Exante Facebook groups - utter chaos. I only stay for the bun fights.

SpiritEssence · 28/06/2020 11:47

Hi I'm starting this tomorrow as got my box coming today. Any tips anyone please

SpiritEssence · 28/06/2020 11:49

I'd also like to have a low calorie evening meal I was thinking salmon with veg. So.may start on 1200 plan

AnastasiaKrupnick · 28/06/2020 12:28

Hi everyone, I’m almost finished 3 weeks and have lost 7lbs total. Finding it OK and generally doing 3 packs a day + milk in tea and coffee. 3 times so far I’ve dropped a pack and substituted a low calorie meal and I’ve got into the habit of having a small salad bowl once a day at either lunch or dinner. Don’t use dressing on the salad, but include a small portion of pickled veg for flavour.

Weight loss is OK, I’ve dropped from BMI 29.2 to 28, but less than I expected. Any thoughts on what I’m doing wrong? Just ordered a load more packs and plan to keep going — although will prob take a day off for DS birthday in 2 weeks.

I just want to lose the weight and find this easier than SW, WW or other complicated diet plans. It is also breaking my bad habits, like grazing through the day.

Suzysuz · 28/06/2020 14:17

I've just finished my first week, am doing 1200 ish (I say ish as think lower some days), have lost 5.5lb which I'm happy with, won't be as high as those doing 3/4 packs a day but I want (and need!) an evening meal, I keep it low carb.

Tips from my first week

  1. defo drink loads of water! If in doubt or feeling hungry, drink a big glass of water, you will be peeing loads but will adjust

  2. keep note of what you like / don't like, some people seem to prefer shakes, others bars, others meals

  3. prepare for ketosis side effects, day 2 and 3 I had a foggy headache, queasiness, felt shattered and baking hot! Drink lots of water and you will get through it

  4. prepare for side effects from the bars/shakes/meals, I found I was okay with the shakes but the first few bars gave me an upset tum, others find some products block them, again your body should adjust

  5. mix ice with the shakes, they're nicer when very cold (I keep the water for them in fridge too)

Suzysuz · 28/06/2020 14:24

@AnastasiaKrupnick It sounds like you're doing everything right! I've heard some refer to 'woosh weeks' where the loss catches up and drops off so fingers crossed you may have one coming otherwise it's still a good steady loss Smile
I'm the same in that I really want to do well on this, I don't have time or the energy to deal with counting, points etc it's just where I am right now.
